Turkish man assaults Pattaya restaurant worker, leaving him in a coma
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
This is an indictment of both your imagination and the low quality of Thai people you apparently prefer to associate with. The Thais I know are all very respectful and not going to squirt someone that obviously doesn't want it. Maybe if you stretch your imagination to include Thais that don't fit your biases it will make your life better. -
Sales of Alcoholic Beverages During Songkran Soar by 30%
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Actually, Western thinking is "let me come here and take advantage of low prices from the exploitative labor market, then turn around and complain that their society doesn't put more effort into fair social practices while insulting every native Thai along the way." Thai thinking is "let me get what I can from these invaders from the Empire, as long as they are raping my country." -
Finnish man accused by neighbours of insulting Thai people
wealthychef replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I just asked for a link, no need to be rude. -
Removing corruption from politics is an endless project and somehow nobody ever accomplishes it. This is another place where I have to remind folks that Thailand is not unique in its corruption. The problem is that the vast majority of those with the real power to correct it are neck-deep in it, in every country I know of at the moment.

Finnish man accused by neighbours of insulting Thai people

I'm confused by this relating of events. How could Jarae's loud speaking be misinterpreted as anger towards them if he did not engage with anyone? Something is fishy here... of course. There are always multiple angles here. When something seems this odd, that generally means there is something missing from the story... not saying he at all deserved this horrible treatment, but there is more to this story I think. -
Seven Deadly Days of Songkran Road Accident Update in Thailand

I'm also curious how road deaths compare to pollution-related deaths in Thailand. Distraction? -

Maybe the researchers and I have a different understanding of what "most" means. -
Aussie dad gets into fistfight with monkeys on Ko Phi Phi in Thailand
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
These monkeys are super aggressive, I can attest to that. Something I did set off one of them and he got very aggressive and chased me off. Only reason I didn't fight him was I didn't want to be the guy caught in a video fighting a monkey. ???? But they are very aggressive and I advise people to stay away from them. -
Will Thailand’s Long Term Resident Visa work for you?

Interesting, thanks. I'm still trying to figure out the place for me, so appreciate you sharing your ideas. -
Will Thailand’s Long Term Resident Visa work for you?
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Interesting, OK, yeah, I didn't leave the USA because I couldn't afford it, I left because it'a an authoritarian cesspool of ignorance. ???? So LV and San Antonio sound dreadful to me. Manila vs. Bangkok: I don't know why anyone might prefer Manila, with its horrible traffic and pollution. Oh, wait... LOL. ???? -
Will Thailand’s Long Term Resident Visa work for you?
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Oh yeah, where would you go? I make $80k in my pension and I don't qualify because I can't prove to the Thai government that my pension is real. But I love the culture and people here. -
Will Thailand’s Long Term Resident Visa work for you?
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would expect this is mostly corporate employees who spend money like it's nothing, or wealthy people that just are looking for a bit more convenience at any cost. No normal person is going to do this and I assume that's by design. -
Foreigner Found Dead With Slit Throat In Pattaya

Unlike all those virtuous Western women that are famously well above any sort of gold digging or treachery, good point. </sarcasm> -
Whoops! Avoiding cultural faux pas when visiting Thailand
wealthychef replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What possible faux pas could be made around the importance of music in Thai culture? Being too quiet? Not liking driving backbeats? Failure to dance like nobody's watching? -
Thai health officials worried about growing number of fat kids
wealthychef replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, in the USA we went through the Fat Ass Revolution in the 1970s and 80s I think. So we are way ahead of Thailand here. -

It's a calorie surplus, whether from sugar, fats ,or even protein. The quality of your diet can change the ability to process calories somewhat, but the bottom line is that for purposes of gaining weight, it's all about calories in minus calories out. Exercise, nutrition, etc, are all ways of modifying these two quantities.
