  2. Pattaya, August 24 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : On Monday Morning at Pattaya City Hall, over 250 local government officials attended an anti-corruption seminar which was opened by Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya and presented by Khun Nopadon, the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Commission Region 4. It was stressed that strict enforcement of anti-corruption legislation would mean that no one, regardless of their position in society would be able to avoid the law and it was the responsibility of local government leaders to ensure that corruption is not permitted within their area of responsibility.

  3. Hello all.

I would like your help please..........

My wife and I will be visiting Pattaya in a few weeks time with our two children aged 2 and 5.

I was wondering if you might know of places to visit for family days out for the times we are not on the beach.

    Thanks.... slippery

The underwater world is great for both you and the kids... i loved it that much i went twice and enjoyed it just as much the second time :)

  4. hi there,

does anyone know where I could buy Potatoes that would be good for English Chippy type chips please?

The ones I have tried seem to have too much sugar and go brown before they are cooked. I am looking for the ones that cook all the way through and stay soft not crispy, just like the ones back in England.

    thank you

Buy the usual Thai style potatoes, cut them into chip size pieces. Boil them for 10 minutes. Let them cool then put them into the fridge until cold then fry them as normally would.

Crisp on the outside and soft in the middle ... mmmmmmmmm :)

  5. Sausages and Bacon - Mr Moo, beside Big C on Sukhumvit and South Pattaya Road.

Music - Central and 2nd Road Corner - group of bars with a band playing at the back.

Leo Blues Bar - Soi Wongamat (18) Pattaya-Naklua Road (every night except Sunday)

Pops Place - 3rd Road - opposite Four Seasons Place - past Xzyte heading to South Pattaya Road

Tattoo Bar - between Soi 2 and Tiffanys (near Ibis Hotel)

Red and White Bar - between Soi 8 and 9 Jomtien

Utopia - Soho Square Walking Street (the Climax Band)

    Hotel - what price range?

Seems you know Pattayta well. Will have a look at Mr Moo's shop.

As for price renge... up to 550bt but woundering if there was any spacials on such as buy one day get one free. Heard a while back that with the recesion and low season that hotels were desperate so hoped someone might know of low price's or specials. Tried using google but no mention of special low season discounts.

Leo's blues bar sounds like what i'm looking for... will give it a go.... thanks for that, Carl.

  6. I stayed at Qeeen victoria soi 6.A nice hotel, and the food is good.I don't know if you know about soi 6 ,but it's A wild street.

Iknow soi 6 well, lived in Pattaya for a year before moving to Phetchabun (5 years ago). Queen vic has great Sunday lunch's but never ventured there after 8pm :)

  7. "wheres the best place to buy packs of fresh sausages and bacon?""

I'd suggest S.S. Sausage on Naklua Rd. ( the extension of Pattaya 2nd Rd. north of the dolphin roundabout at North Pattaya Rd. ( Pattaya Nua Rd. ) -- Only a few blocks up on the left.

From a Pattaya Today newspaper review:

"S.S. Sausage company on the ocean side of the street opposite Soi 23. This place sells turkey, lamb and other small goods which you may not find elsewhere. I would suggest that sausage connoisseurs (there are quite a few in Pattaya) would be impressed with the range of products on offer."

Cheers for that, looks good and will give it a go. :)

  8. Does anyone know of any hotels that are offering specials or discounts due to it being out of season and low on tourists.

Also, wheres the best place to but packs of fresh sausages and bacon ? I live in Phetchabun and they dont have any western style food outlets :D

Also, where apart from soi2, beach road and walking street are there decent bars to go to with live music but reasonably priced beer? :)

  9. ^ Try searching this forum for Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (or BPH) and you will find plenty of reasons NOT to use them.

Cheers for that. Had no idea.

I've used them twice, once went to enquire about laser eye surgery. They said i needed to be 50 years old but they'd do it anyway (i was 44yrs old at the time). After ringing my sister in England, who's a hospital manager, she said that they shouldn't have said that as my eyes were not ready and would change again after the surgery making it useless.

Guess thats what makes using this forum soooooooo good !!! :)

  10. Hi John, ever thought of a Siberian huskie ? Lovely dogs, very friendly and i'll have some puppies ready in around 3 months. I live in Sri Thep, about 10 minutes from you so you could come and see first if you wanted to wait that is.

    Regards, Carl.

Hi could you give me some information about the pedigree, and when they will be ready and of course how much.

Will all inoculations be done prior to picking them up?

    Thanks

They are full Siberian huskie (not mixed at all) but dont have documentation. I sell them for 6000 baht each. A Thai guy just north of you usually buys the full litter and takes them to Jattajack market in Bangkok where he sells them upwards of 10,000baht each.

The bitch has just gone into season and the dog has done his job :) so usually 3 months from now. If your interested let me have your number or e-mail address and i'll let you know when they're ready and you can have the pick of the litter. If you want to see some photo's of the parents let me know and i'll e-mail you some pics or if your passing you can pop in and have a look.

All the inoculations will be done, always have,

    Regards, Carl.

  11. Does anyone know where to find a Golden Retriever or Lab puppy in Petchabun? I live near Wichian Buri, and just finished building a wall around my property. Like to have a decent dog for my young (4 1/2 yr) daughter.

    Thanks in advance

    John

  12. I had it. Aches, pains, fever etc but after a few days was OK. Take plenty of water and something like Ibuprofen. Keep in isolation for 1 week from the start of symptoms or 3 days after symptoms stop, whichever is the longest.

If your children get it then the treatment is the same unless they get so bad and irritable that they will not even let you cuddle them. In that case, take them to hospital. NOT Bangkok Pattaya! Try Pattaya International or the Navy Hospital at Sattahip. But from what I hear no hospital in Pattaya has any supplies of Tamiflu!

    Chris

Chris, why NOT Bangkok Pattaya hospital ? Seems very modern and uptodate so whats the score ?

  13. Thats just what i've been looking for. Started learning to read Thai but it blew me away. Do you have any other online learning site addresss's ? Been here 9 years and have yet to learn to read more than one word in Thai (baht). I used to live in Pattaya but now live in a village near Phetchabun where there are no Farang and no schools to learn Thai. So ANYTHING you can send me will be a help.

  14. Firstly, there is enough stress, in fact, approaching cardiac levels, without the smart ass comment brigade entertaining themselves with their own perceived wit and repartee. So please don't post if that's you, just resist the urge this is a genuine problem.

The last payment is due on my house today (from me) 550K Bht will release another 1 mill from the bank, the house will be complete in 4 weeks with a full crew in there from tomorrow. A friend who has owed me 15K sterling for a while, promised me faithfully he would transfer me the money yesterday. He did not and is currently 'uncontactable' :) . I have had 24 hours of wailing women, crying and sobbing, about the shame, the loss of face blah blah, and whilst the businesman in me can take a hard pragmatic view of everything the heart in me empathyses with them fully, over letting our excellent builder down. They (Wife and MIL) have been making frantic phone calls without success (funny thing about Thai culture I have learned, they all want Good luck, but hate to see the good fortune of others and love to see when it goes even slightly wrong for others!), so it is going to be down to me to fix. For what is a trivial amount of money relatively speaking, this has caused a lot of problems, and currently I am unable to find extra cash to cover this for approximately two to three months, as I thought the issue was solved.

Any idea's from those who have lived here a while. I cannot go to the bank, but they will release considerable equity on the property once it is completed, that is guaranteed. I need 550K and want to repay in three to four months and am willing to include a 15-20% return rate. The amount of money can be secured here in Thailand. Any ideas? Every positive reply will reduce my blood pressure 5 points.

I don't know if there is any help out there, sorry for the diatribe, maybe I have written so much because I don't have another person to talk to in my own language. I feel a bit isolated at the mo, at least Thai Visa can serve as an agony Aunt :D Can anyone help the Widows Son.

Hi, i'm new on here but have a solution for you. try this phone number - Kay McDonnell on +66(0)81 737 0552, they advertised about a month ago on Thaivisa in the housing section offering 'fastcash' (i'd give you the URL but 'they' wont let me :D )

I've checked and its still advertised posted by 'Kay'

Hope it helps... and they speaka da lingo :D

Hope it helps, chin up and all that :D
