Correct, but the "postal" agent does everything for you, they do all the photo copies etc till stuff is 100%......THEN they take your stuff to Trendy where there is no ploblem...

Yer, decided already thats the best way, not too expensive either as it would cost me around 3000 baht in traveling expenses, and, as you say, peace of mind too.

The British Embassy does not issue passports in Thailand so an Embassy visit is not necessary.

You have to go to the UK visa application centre, address below :-

    UK Visa Application Centre
    The Trendy Office Building,
    28th Floor,
    Sukhumvit Soi13,
    Klongtoey-Nua, Wattana
    Bangkok
    Thailand
    10110

They check everything and forward it on to Britain, this is from the official GOV.UK website.

  3. My passport runs out in just over 6 months. Dont want to drive from my home in Phetchabun to the British Embassy to renew it as its quite a toll on my old bones and i find Bangkok driving really stressful. So, i looked on the internet for services that do it for a fee (all were 5000bt) and there are a few.

So, was wondering if anyone has used the service and can let me know their experience and recommendations. Plus any advice using them would help.

Does your PP expire july 17th, Mr. Carlosm? Mine's about to expire as well. I'd like to learn about Phetchabun immigration policy on this.

If you go visit them they probably offer you an alternative. It's a decent immigration office.

Mine expires on the 18th July, they rang me and were quite abrupt with me about my passport expiring in 6 months as if i'd done something really wrong, will find out tomorrow and if appropriate will let you know.

  5. I do my 90 day reporting by post, have done for over 12 years. My passport expires in 6 months and 6 days. So, thought i'd get my 90 day renewal in and apply for a new passport. Sent off my 90 day renewal off 10 days ago, today got a phone call saying that i cannot get a new 90 day extension as my passport runs out in 6 months. They want me to go in tomorrow and talk to them but am not sure why. Phetchabun is a decent immigration office so i know its legitimate but cannot see a problem.... or is there one ?

Plus, is 6 months before my passport runs out to short a period to renew ? (I haven't left Thailand in over a decade and probably never will).

Firefox Quantum messed up my internet banking with Tesco Bank (UK). The bank recongnised it as a new browser and cleared the relevant cookie or security feature. This can only be fixed by receiving an OTP to a UK phone number. So I will have to fix it next time I am in the UK.

Fortunately I have the security feature on my tablet also so I can use that for UK internet banking.

Unless your tablets using FF ... lol

  7. Downloaded Chrome but the entire setup is in Thai. The settings are all in Thai and as i cannot read Thai its useless for me.

Can anyone tell me either hoe to download Chrome in English or how to change the default language.

I've searched for 'download Chrome in English' but the download still comes up in Thai... very frustrating.

  8. I've got a snooker hall. Went to see the police at the Amphur. Quote 'as long as you keep it quiet and there is no alcohol on the tables you'll be alright'. Staff wearing suitable clothing, no music etc etc.

    Common sense really !

Since 2014 when they stopped the mail in applications  you have to submit your application in Bangkok. Go through the steps here for info. https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

You can apply as early as you want to. They will add up to 9 months of passport validity left on the old one to the new one when it is issued.

Best not to wait any later than 2 months before it expires. The normal suggestion is to get a new one before it has less than 6 months since many countries require at least 6 months of validity on entry.

    Thanks !
