It is very noticeable that none of them show a photograph with the power cable, which one assumes must dangle from the rear view mirror to the cigarette lighter in all eternity.

    Not a great solution

The power cable comes with all of them, it tucks in easily round the top of the windscreen, down the door rubber, behind the glove compartment and out next to the cigarette lighter.... took me about 10 minutes.

    Great solution !

Do not believe most Thai would know what diet coke was - the sugar free version here is Coke Zero and is served at McDonalds so it is known.  There is also a Coke Lite but have never seen anywhere and have not tasted.  Other than perhaps green tea do not believe there is much choice here normally, and even less demand.  But Coke/Pepsi/EST all have sugar free versions now so perhaps in another decade there was be something other than cola.

They know what diet coke is, i never said they didn't, they just dont want a drink without sugar.

  3. I'm trying to find a supermarket that sell sugar free drinks apart from coca cola (i have bad reactions to caffeine). Its crazy out here for sugary drinks.

I (my wife) own a snooker hall, in it there are 2 display fridges full of various drinks, all full of sugar. I recently tried putting small bottles of diet coke in. One month later and they still haven't been touched.

I like the Thai whiskey 'Hong Tong'. Usually drink it with soda and a large splash of Sprite. But recently noticed it was affecting my teeth so looked online for a supermarket selling sugar free drinks. Apart from cola and soda with a hint of flavor (yuk), i couldn't find any.

So, has anyone seen any 'diet' drinks and if so what ?

^^^ Great choice... Out of the box it’s menu is all Chinese so don’t try to set anything up with the devices menu... get the app on your phone and sync them together (Many YouTube apps will show you how)... then the setup is a breeze as the app is in English!...

Thanks, though i this this one states it has an English menu, if not i will follow your advice, cant wait to try it out.

    Thanks for all the replies.

Having considered this a lot it appears that the 3 main ones mentioned, T626SE, G1W and the Xiaomi Yi  are all very good for the price. It was a coin toss as to which one but went for the Xiaomi Yi  :-

    https://www.lazada.co.th/xiaomi-yi-dash-cam-full-hd-1080p-adas-wi-fi-gray-sandisk-microsd16gb-class10-98mbs-ultra-29810989.html?spm=a2o4m.prod.reccomendations-list-item_page-bottom.2.650966996qaSxF&lzd_rec_event_src=UN355ELAB2R3ICANTH&lzd_rec_event_dest=XI482ELAAHQYB1ANTH&strat=viewed_viewed&pa=item_page.bottom

This one has the bracket to attach to your rear view mirror and the 16GB card which are obviously very important.

Will write a review when i get it in the next few days.

    1years warranty too.

  7. O.K. ..... after seeing so many posts that involve dash cams saving people, who have them mounted, from lairs and con artist's i decided its time to buy one. So, opened up Lazada.com and typed in 'dash cam' into their search engine thinking i'd get a few hundred to filter down to the one in my price bracket..... got over 22 thousand to chose from. Mind blowing and very confusing. Thought that the one most people ordered must now be out of date (like mobile phones) so again, dont know what to think.

To put it mildly, i'm not too camera savvy. Basically i'm looking for a dash cam thats got a clear picture and if the sh*t hits the fan and i need it for evidence there's no confusion over what happened. Not too interested in lane alert or the car infront too close alert etc just really clear play back and idiot proof.

So, all opinions as too the latest model and a price tag around 2000 baht. Tried googling it but most of them are too expensive or not available over here.

And basically, everyone reading this who hasn't got one should click on 'follow this' and eventually buy one... like life insurance, you dont want to think... wish i'd bought it before it happened !

Correct, but the "postal" agent does everything for you, they do all the photo copies etc till stuff is 100%......THEN they take your stuff to Trendy where there is no ploblem...

Yer, decided already thats the best way, not too expensive either as it would cost me around 3000 baht in traveling expenses, and, as you say, peace of mind too.

The British Embassy does not issue passports in Thailand so an Embassy visit is not necessary.

You have to go to the UK visa application centre, address below :-

    UK Visa Application Centre
    The Trendy Office Building,
    28th Floor,
    Sukhumvit Soi13,
    Klongtoey-Nua, Wattana
    Bangkok
    Thailand
    10110

They check everything and forward it on to Britain, this is from the official GOV.UK website.

  10. My passport runs out in just over 6 months. Dont want to drive from my home in Phetchabun to the British Embassy to renew it as its quite a toll on my old bones and i find Bangkok driving really stressful. So, i looked on the internet for services that do it for a fee (all were 5000bt) and there are a few.

So, was wondering if anyone has used the service and can let me know their experience and recommendations. Plus any advice using them would help.

Does your PP expire july 17th, Mr. Carlosm? Mine's about to expire as well. I'd like to learn about Phetchabun immigration policy on this.

If you go visit them they probably offer you an alternative. It's a decent immigration office.

Mine expires on the 18th July, they rang me and were quite abrupt with me about my passport expiring in 6 months as if i'd done something really wrong, will find out tomorrow and if appropriate will let you know.

  12. I do my 90 day reporting by post, have done for over 12 years. My passport expires in 6 months and 6 days. So, thought i'd get my 90 day renewal in and apply for a new passport. Sent off my 90 day renewal off 10 days ago, today got a phone call saying that i cannot get a new 90 day extension as my passport runs out in 6 months. They want me to go in tomorrow and talk to them but am not sure why. Phetchabun is a decent immigration office so i know its legitimate but cannot see a problem.... or is there one ?

Plus, is 6 months before my passport runs out to short a period to renew ? (I haven't left Thailand in over a decade and probably never will).

Firefox Quantum messed up my internet banking with Tesco Bank (UK). The bank recongnised it as a new browser and cleared the relevant cookie or security feature. This can only be fixed by receiving an OTP to a UK phone number. So I will have to fix it next time I am in the UK.

Fortunately I have the security feature on my tablet also so I can use that for UK internet banking.

Unless your tablets using FF ... lol

  14. Downloaded Chrome but the entire setup is in Thai. The settings are all in Thai and as i cannot read Thai its useless for me.

Can anyone tell me either hoe to download Chrome in English or how to change the default language.

I've searched for 'download Chrome in English' but the download still comes up in Thai... very frustrating.
