  1. since this is my first time buying  a new car in TH, need some suggestions of what sort of free goodies shall i negotiate for ? for suzuki swift they offered me 10k THB discount , free 1 year first class insurance , film and that's it.

is there anything i'm missing that i should ask for ?

    thanks

  2. thanks for the suggestions. i'm leaning towards suzuki swift and will wait till motor show in dec to check for any promotion. GL/MT is good price just 480k THB. I also like yaris a lot but manual gear version is little expensive with very average interior perks.

I'll mostly drive in Bangkok hence looking for eco. occasionally i may go for long drive perhaps to samui or chiang mai from bkk. now this is where my concern, can swift take the long drive in hot sun without engine heat and other problems ?

    thanks

The manual should be fun to drive...but you may also want to consider a jazz mt. It's about 560K baht. Much more power (117 vs 91, but heavier), twin airbags and all round disc brakes....it won't be as economical though;) The jazz has good room inside too, and the seats fold flat.

Did you have to wait long time for your swift ? the sales girl told me 1 week but sounds pretty unlikely to me.

You won't get 16 km/l in the city. Right now, I'm on gasohol 95 and I've run the fuel consumption meter for 1500km+. I'm getting 15.7km/l. This is mostly driving in Nonthaburi in mixed traffic and two trips to Ratchaburi return. I've also used E10 (14.6 km/l and 14.2 km/l, each on two 1500km trips). E20 is a litte worse. I'm sticking with gasohol 95 as the performnace seems better, as is the fuel economy. You will get abut 20 km/l on the highway at a constant 100 km/h. I have the cvt and the manual version gets better economy. If you like manuals its the one to get. Probably the worse thing about it is the road noise - its more noisy than my honda civic, but still not bad for a cheap car. Change the eco tires too. The suck. I put on 205/50/16 on the stock rims and its much better under braking and in the wet.

thank you so much. word of wisdom in your post. surely will help me to purchase suzuki. right at this moment, i'm leaning towards swift manual gear . I may pull the trigger this coming december and would like to check the motorshow for promotions.

it is also annoying to see they don't offer top models on manual gears.

  5. thanks for the valuable inputs guys. It seems mirage is not so popular and not recommended.

Today i went to suzuki showroom and checked out swift. i loved it. felt solid and not cheap at all. The manual version quite inexpensive actually. But they didn't let me test drive it. They said none of the swift are allowed to test drive which i felt little funny .

anybody has any idea the 1.2 lit fuel efficiency of suzuki ? the sales girl said averge 16km in the city.

    thanks

  6. I'm not sure if they have more eco car in this range beside these three models. I need a car that is fuel efficient. I'll be mostly driving in Bangkok, occasionally may tour outside. It is just me and my wife. i have test driven the new Mirage , i loved it. lot of space and technically sound the most fuel efficient. I also i have seen on youtube their entertainment system comes with "android play" which is rare for this range but not sure if it is available in Thailand. i'll wait for motor show in dec.

Yaris, this model has been there for a while now but i'm not sure if they will have redesigned model for 2017 ? same as march, i have seen the new micra in European retail which looks drop dead gorgeous. But i doubt it will be available in Thailand this year as i need to replace my car this year.

so what you guys suggest if any of you are current owner of these cars? any suggestions are welcome.....

    cheers.

  7. my car is over 10 years old but well maintained . so not sure if it is open loop system . i assume it's a injector based.

so like one poster suggested, i should just clean or change the injector ? is it going to help? surely i never changed or cleans injector ever.

    it doesn't sound too expensive.

thanks all of you who dropped by. really helps. :)

  8. Hello All,

my car runs smooth on LPG. But it's been a while since i drove my car on fuel . i have automatic LPG system which means the car starts on fuel.

however, i'm noticing when i fully drive on fuel the acceleration is not getting the force like it used to and it is cluttering a bit. The moment i switch to LPG, it runs very smooth and picks up very well.

before taking to garage, it would be great if i have some idea about the problem otherwise they will just rip me off. i assume it is some dirt.

    any suggestion would be appreciable.

    thanks

  9. Hi Transam

u were right. i went back home and opened the hood only to find out the wiring connector was disconnected.

The guy forgot to hook it back.

my car is smooth as silk now.

thanks so much for your help mate. You saved lot of my money.

before i used to use Shell engine oil. Then i changed to sports english oil recommended by my garage. Then i noticed i was not getting good mileage as before so i flashed it and got back to Shell engine oil (after using for 3 months, 5k km)

could that be a problem? however, when engine is hot, it seems to run okay but not as good as before.

Oil no problem. Sounds like cold start enrichment (choke) is not working. Might have a wire off. There should be a sensor on the air filter tube with a wiring connector on it. Check it has been reconnected or wiggle it about, disconnect and reconnect.

  12. Difficult to say without looking under the hood. How old was the air filter ? Did the guy blow the crap out from the inside out. If not he might have compacted the crap.

Take the air filter out and drive the car round the block. If it is OK then buy a new filter, if the same, will need investigation.

PS. Did you put fuel in at the same time ?

    hi,

no i didn't put fuel at the same time.

the thing is my car was absolutely fine before this guy touched my filter.....my filter is 4 months old. i didn't notice how he blew the crap.

my gut feeling is when he was unscrewing the hose, he mistakenly messed up with fine-tune screw.

    thanks,

  13. Hello experts,

yesterday i went to Shell (rama 9) with my 15 years old car to change the engine oil.

The guy also took out the air filter to blow clean the dust out of it. not only he took out the filter but also the entire hose pipe which is connected to engine.

    Everything seems okai .

but now when i drive, i feel 1st and 2nd gear not getting the power. It is backfiring when i accelerate.

Today morning when the engine was cold, it started alright but it didn't drive properly till the engine was hot.

what could be the problem here?

did the guy reassembled the filter improperly ? or he messed up with the engine tune?

The car was running really smooth before i went to Shell .

    any advice appreciated.

    thanks
