  1. hi,

hope you guys doing great. : )

    some questions:

    1. i know the difference between manual and automatic LPG system, but does it has any difference in engine performance?

    2. i have noticed from my friends LPG system that his top speed decreased after running the car for 2 years, is it because of the dirt inside the engine?

Do we have to clean inside the engine every after some specific miles?

    thanks.

  2. all the good locations are taken. you can consider having a shop at "second MBK" which is on process on rama 9 road. Or at Abac (Assumption University) Bagna side. I have seen many good spaces there just outside the campus. not many expats there but loads of students with high spending power.

  3. 3M Di-Noc is arguably the most popular/highest quality, plus plenty of DIY videos on YouTube to help you get a good result.

R-Style in MBK/Pathumwan have it in-stock (www.rstyleracing.com) and no doubt a google.co.th search will find you some more vendors ;)

Note that Thai's call it Kevlar, even though it's not.. they won't understand what you want if you ask for carbon.

thanks so much. I didn't know the kevlar thing. i'll try to search in that shop but i reckon it would be pricey.

i'll have to search near srinakarin if they have any......

  4. You should be able to pick one up at the larger toll booths around town (after you pay your toll, there is the highway police building on the left, they have them in there).

I was told last week that I had to wait until the 17th, and haven't had the time to pick one up yet. Toll-booth operator says it takes 10 mins - fill out some forms, pay and get your pass. I don't know about the ID requirement but I'll ask when I go in there.

Just wondering (if you see this) whether you were required to have a Thai ID to buy an Easy Pass. I haven't gotten around to going out an buying one yet.

Looks like you can now buy them at Kasikorn Bank branches as well:

you just need the passport copy....they won't photocopy for you.......you also need the bluebook and a form to fill up..problem for me was to fill the car registration number as there was some thai alphabet...anyway, i asked the lady next to me ......

i bought my one at rama 2 high way. they have a nice drive way and plenty of place to park...the office is very small though.

  5. My gas tank in the car is pretty old......i have noticed last checked in 2005. it's kind of worrying me.....do they have any service in the LPG shop where they inspect the whole system and gives us green signal or certificate perhaps?

yesterday, i was watching on Thai news and saw a car has been blown away while filling gas.....not sure what is the reason....but it's pretty scary.....

does anybody has any idea what precaution we should take while driving on LPG?

  6. i have been using lancer ECar from 1993 with LPG for last 3 years without any problem. I have never driven on petrol. i don't think it even works. I start my car on LPG and i drive 80km every day.

But i make sure that i change the engine oil/filter every after 5k Km. I clean radiator every after 6 months. I check for leaked gas smell and i check the gas pipe every week just in case.

i don't even use coolant just simply water. never had overheat problem.

  7. Thank you all for help. To answer questions John is from Northern Ireland and he did go to embassy and they would not help him. Part of his problem is he still thinks it is the 1800s . He refuses to deal with computers and emails and such and only uses post office which takes forever to get mail back and forth from UK. He now is just recovering from dengue fever and went to border run to Laos and luckily got free double entry visa. maybe they felt sorry for him too. I have tried to make budget for him but he cannot stick to it. he rides bicycle and takes songtaew sometimes so not too much travel expense. frankly even despite low income he should be able to survive much better than he is doing. I think he spends too much money on telephone calls, dogs and farang food. Actually, with the way the current exchange rate is going, I may soon be in same boat as John. maybe I will start borrowing money from him.

i have been following this thread but never posted.

off topic, Leininger, did anybody tell you how wonderful writer you are? have you ever considered writing blogs or something?

You must have read a lot of books in your life.

  8. i haven't tried Peptein yet. but i do have interest.

i go to gym regularly. I used to take protein shake but i find it too expensive in Thailand.

so i was thinking Peptein as an option. but i can't read the nutrition value.

i was hospitalized once and my thai friends brought me BRAND-bird nest. i had it but it didn't see worked on me.

only red bull works on me and i find it genuine.

  9. Hi,

my topic sayz it all. i'm very confused about Peptein drink. I tried to read nutrition information on the peptein bottle but it is all in Thai. i guess it's an energy drink and it has so many kinds. Little expensive for a drink actually.

what is the health benefit of this drink?

  10. Hi,

i have recently paid 50% advance for an engine swap. My car is from 1993 Mitsu lancer and has just 1.3cc Engine. I'm getting 1.8cc DOHC probably from 2004/5.

    my questions:

    1. i have asked the garage guys not to touch the LPG system as i want to take it to dedicated LPG garage only. They will install the new engine on normal fuel system. My new engine should be EFI but old engine is carburetor, so wondering, can i still use my old LPG system?

    2. They will change the information on Blue book but what about my insurance? i have 3rd party+ insurance valid till December. how do i change the info on that? will they change it?

    thanks

  11. There are ppl who believes in these scams.

few months ago, i went to Bkk bank to exchange some dollars. There i saw a Thai man, sitting next to me, sending some claim money which he won (?) from a lottery.

He had photocopy of emails from gmail with his lucky number. Also address where he needs to send the money around 59$. The guy didn't look that rich but i could easily read his face thinking how lucky he is .

these scams requires to send small amount of money (59$) to claim the price and that's how they make money.

i wanted to warn that guy but he can accuse me of secretly checking his papers.

Felt really bad for him as when i saw he was paying 59$ in Thai Baht with so many 20 baht notes....

  12. i live in one room apartment. i have got a new mitsubishi AC, TV, small refrigerator and a small music system. i have hot shower but i don't run everyday.

I turn on the AC every night for about 10 hours a day.

Last month my bill was whopping 2300 baht. i think it is too much. They are charging 7 baht an unit.

the rate is roughly 3 baht per kwh, or 3.5 with tax and other charges

my apartment owner is making money charging me 7 baht an unit.....but i have noticed most of the apartments charges this much unless it is a condo....
