  1. i recently went to LPG shop to tune it. they tuned it and since then it has gone really economical. I drive a lot but still it is not consuming lot of gas which is really making me happy.

However, i have noticed my car won't start with oil like before. i swap between gas and oil for better performance of my engine.

    what could be the problem?

    thanks so much,

    regards,

    Sunny

  2. hello, i'll be flying to Usa this weekend for my training for the company. Since this is my first visit to USA, i'm pretty excited and scared at the same time. I heard immigration officers are really tough there. Even though i have all the papers and business visa but just need to know if there is anything i'm missing. I'll obviously have my passport, wp, driver license, invitation letter, hotel booking, leave letter from the company etc.

do i need any health certificate or something? any tips? what is the thing that i can't carry with me.

i'll really appreciate if anybody shares their experience.

i'm south asian and will be in chicago.

    thanks so much,

  3. you better study here in Thailand if you want to stay here for 1 year +. There are many wonderful universities here offers great programs which would be very handy for your future. This girl friend of yours, won't stay with you for long if you don't have cash. At age 21, i assume you have nothing, no cash and no college degree. You don't even have money to buy return ticket.

i don't think the airline authority will let you board without a return ticket if you are on tourist visa. I suggest you better have a return ticket so that you can just return back home in case of emergency. Trust me, anything can happen, this is Thailand.

  4. this is the exact problem i'm having with my 95 lancer. It takes lot of efforts to start the engine but one of my thai friend increased the race and now it is somewhat ok but consumes lot of gas.

nevertheless, the car is smooth while the engine is warm. I took to the repair shop but by the time i get there, the engine is hot and it was a hel_l explaining to them. so i gave up.

  5. i am going to check my LPG tank tomorrow after reading this :D

    ((

    Interesting reading.

I had my installation done at a licensed LPG installation shop in Satthu Pradit area, doing mainly taxis. After the professional installation, I was required to take my car (Suzuki Caribian) to the Land transportation Department at Chatuchak for inspection and registration.

I was under the impression ( :o TIT) that all conversions had to be inspected for leaks and quality etc.

Has anyone else had to take their vehicle to LTD and have Green book marked

yes after installing i had to go to mochit for road permit. I needed a LPG certificate from the shop and showed at Mochit.

  6. thanks a lot Han. Well, so that means the valve in line with the black pipe is the high-speed (or power) right? what i understand from the cooking cylinder that if you increase the knob it fires a lot and cook faster. Some times the dish get burns.

will it burn my engine coz the valve is set too high? Otherwise my engine is not starting. While on halt, rpm remains on "1" so i guess this is normal .

once again, thanks so much for explaining.....i can feel the breathe inside me now.

i live my Rama 9. I don't mind driving far just to find renowned LPG station where they are willing to help me.

  7. thank you so much hans. I'll check whether i have safely valve or not. Please recommend some repair shops if not so trouble.

While returning from office, i couldn't start my car. It was not battery problem as the headlight, stereo set was working perfect. I tried for 20 mins still no luck. Then this thai guy came and he increased /untied a spring knob from the lpg motor. Then he also did something with the accelerator string and then my engine started.

not sure what was the problem as i have noticed often i have problem starting the car from cold engine like in the morning after long gap.

so that spring knob from the lpg motor on top of black pipe, does it has to do anything with safety?

then i came back home and saw the burning car on TV. guys this is freaking me out. i'm scared to drive now.

    please help.

  8. sorry to open another lpg thread, but this is freaking me out. I just saw on thai news on TV and showed some burning cars road side caused due to LPG. Even though i don't understand thai much but it was obviously showing the cause of the fire was due to LPG. Later they were showing some gas station and shops.

I want to check thoroughly my LPG system. I want to make sure it is safe. I went to lpg shop but these guys are busy installling LPG on cars rather giving me time for small money. Often they give me a bad look when i go there to tune or check lpg. They just give me 5 minutes and sayz ....chai dai, mai me panha.

How does they understand in just 5 minutes?

is there any suitable and renowned shop where i can check my whole LPG system?

  9. after taking gas from the petchbury lpg station, having some problem with my car. while driving today i heard a crank noise coming from the lpg motor up in front. Even though the car moves alright, but that noise from the lpg motor keeps coming. however it is not affecting the performance of the car. But is quite loud.

I quickly changed to oil and the noise was no more. i'm now scared to drive on lpg.

While taking gas, i noticed the "gas man" mistakenly switching the red tape at the cylinder. he should switch the green one.

is that could be the reason for the cranky sound?

    please help..

  10. Aww dam_n. I just bought my d40 earlier this month for 15k.

So what are you upgrading to?

Have bought a D300. I still love my D40x though.... so light and quick to grab and snap away. May keep it if no takers.

    Have fun with your D40.

    HI Ducuti,

    please check your private msg.

    thanks

  11. yes thats right. Yesterday the rama 9 lpg station was closed at night ..usually i feel up from there every time...then headed towards rca side for fill up and that was closed to due to less supply. then they told me the only station is open on petchbury road. well, i went there, long queue. But they did a favor to me as i was the only private car rest were taxi and i could fill quick. Charged me 11.25 baht / litre but i'm glad that i go lpg.

i sense a serious shortage of gas in the coming months.

however, i thought i just heard from the radio that they are going to setup LPG price for vehicle to 18 baht per / litre active from next month. Not confirmed.

  12. Look here:

Under working in Thailand - work permit.

thanks for your quick reply. well , the info i got from that site was for ppl who wants to apply WP for the first time. As i have valid B visa till next year , i just need to extend my WP. i guess i won't need those list of papers again.

couldn't find any appropriate pages where it states the correct paper for WP extension only.

    thanks so much anyway.

  13. Been in the same situation myself. For the first couple of times I did it myself and vowed I would never do it again. Mine is due for renewal July and this time I will use Sunbelt as I couldnt take the same hassles again

could you please tell me what i have to do? i have no other option except to do my by myself...

i think you cant do it at the ONESTOP office if your company payup is less than 30million..that place is for companys with 30 million upwards..i just went there last week to apply for year non-b visa...i think you need to get a 90 days non b visa first, then the workpermit will also give you a 90 days extend...only after that can you apply for a year... i do not know about farangs..but asians all have to go back to their country to apply for a 3 months non.b,then get a 3 months workpermit, after which, with all documents, try to change it to a one year visa,if they managed to change it,then the work permit will follow the visa dates...

i have non imm B visa valid until next year. i have work permit and i need to extend it this month. Usually our HR does all these but as you know, they leave the job without any notice so i'm in trouble. Hence i thought i should do it myself.

All the papers of our company are correct. 70 thai staffs are working with only 2 foreigners. so i'll let my ppl prepare the papers.

however, i just need to know the list of papers which is needed to extend.

    thanks in advance.

  14. i just installed a new compressor and dryer coz my previous one was burnt. but i'm still having the same problem. Although it gets cold, at 120km plus i notice a white cold smoke comes out from the AC. The air is cooperatively hot.

Last time when it happened, i turned the AC high and i lost my compressor.

    what could be the reason?

    thanks.

  15. Dear All,

i have one year business visa . And WP which is expiring on the 21st of June. All these are handled by HR but she suddenly quit and i have to do by myself as i can't rely on the new one yet.

i'll be continuing with my current job and wish to extend my WP.

    1. i have collected my WP from the din deang office, can i extend my WP at the ratchada office?

    2. what documents i need to show them? so that my office can prepare.

    3. how much does it cost?

    thanks in advance,

  16. You can, but it will be expensive.

If they re-use the tank / piping, count on 25,000 -30,000 Baht for the new injection system!

I personally think for that money you are better of putting in the 1.8 liter engine, and keep your current evaporator system.

Quick question, how old is the current installation? And was it new when installed?

These evaporators do wear out after a time (maybe 75,000 km) and then you're engine will not run properly and burn more LPG.

They are not that expensive to replace! (around 4,000 - 5,000 Baht I think)

my Lpg system is about 6 months old. u are right, i should change to 1.8 lit .........well, i'll do it later this year. But before that i want to get the best out of my 1.3 cc.

    thanks for ur support.

  17. i had to take 4 time written exam in order to pass. it is fairly simple but the problem is the English. i don't know who translated it but it is difficult to understand what is the question asked.

i couldn't find any online thing but there are few kiosk outside the testing hall. you can go early and try there. if you fail, make sure that you see the correct answer for next time.

i'm experience is based on mochit, bkk.

  18. i was going to post issues with AC. i was driving to bangkhen beach and on the high way i saw white cold breeze coming out of the Ac. i didn't care. while at 120km suddenly my car engine has shut off. lucky that there were no car behind , i could safely park on the left side. after that i could turn on the engine but just when i put the Ac on, i heard a crack sound the engine got shut again. later i just drove without Ac.

when i came back to bkk they said my compressor need to replace. all together they charged me 4500 baht for ching kong compressor, dryer with 3 months guarantee.

i don't know why it happened. how do i take care the AC? ............

  19. with my lancer 93, 1.3cc, i can drive 350 km with full tank in bangkok. I spent about 550 baht for full tank. So it's about 1.5 baht per KM. I was thinking of swapping my engine to 1.8 cc. The mechanic guy told me the gas consumption would be less compare to 1.3 cc. No idea though.

talking about the LPG tuning, i'm feeling i'm not getting full power. When i start my car it vibrates a lot but after few acceleration it gets better. i want to drive both in LPG and Petrol depending on the situation.

But it seems if they tune it for the LPG purpose, the petrol part doesn't work properly.

Can anybody please shed some light about the LPG tuning? Do i need to change/clean the filter/injector often? How much do they charge for lpg tuning?

    thanks

Since you have a traditional LPG mixer, you loose power, both on LPG and petrol.

This is because of the "injector", the metal ring in your air tube somewhere, is restricting the airflow.

LPG is a less powerful fuel then petrol. However it has a much higher octane number then petrol (around 120, compared to the 91/95 of petrol).

This means that most LPG installers will advance the ignition, which gives more power. You can only advance the ignition when the octane is high enough of the fuel you use.

That's often the reason you get problems when switching back to petrol, the ignition is advanced so much that the engine starts pinging when running the 95 octane petrol. No problem with the 120 octane of LPG!

Tuning the LPG system is easy, and should be done every 3 months. You can do this very easily yourself!

In the small black tube running from the evaporator (the big round thing with all the tubes connected to it) to the injector (as described above) has a regulating valve in it.

    Start engine.

Get the engine to run at around 3000 RPM, get somebody in the car to help you out.

Keep the gas pedal at exactly the same place.

Slowly close the regulating valve until the engine starts to slow down, then open back up again about 1/4 turn.

This should give close to perfect tuning. Opening the valve more will only increase consumption, it will not increase power!

On the evaporator is also a regulating screw, adjust this one to regulate the LPG going to the engine at idle. (Just put it where the engine seems to run the smoothest).

Putting a bigger engine inside might not really increase economy in the city a lot, but you'll have much better power. On the highway at 110 kph economy will increase!

The main problem on an older 1.3 liter engine, is that you already do not have a lot of power to play with, put in an old style LPG system and you loose 10% of that little power on top. This means you constantly pushing your engine to the edge, just to get around, making your engine wear out faster and also use a lot of gas!

thank you so much. it was very knowledgeable. Really good to know all these. i think i still can't do the tuning by myself. somebody needs to show me first. but thanks anyway,

so what can i do now? can i add new LPG mixer module for better performance and get that 10% for the time being?.....
