  1. with my lancer 93, 1.3cc, i can drive 350 km with full tank in bangkok. I spent about 550 baht for full tank. So it's about 1.5 baht per KM. I was thinking of swapping my engine to 1.8 cc. The mechanic guy told me the gas consumption would be less compare to 1.3 cc. No idea though.

talking about the LPG tuning, i'm feeling i'm not getting full power. When i start my car it vibrates a lot but after few acceleration it gets better. i want to drive both in LPG and Petrol depending on the situation.

But it seems if they tune it for the LPG purpose, the petrol part doesn't work properly.

Can anybody please shed some light about the LPG tuning? Do i need to change/clean the filter/injector often? How much do they charge for lpg tuning?

    thanks

  2. i have LPG installed with 1.3 cc engine (93 model). I can make about 350 km with Lpg which costs me around 550 baht in the city with heavy traffic.

Recently i took my car to the mechanic and he told me that an engine with 1.8 cc will consume less LPG than my current one. Simple math shows he is wrong. I was thinking of swapping my engine to get more HP.

but does it really consume less LPG if the cc is higher?

  3. Hello all,

everyday i drive from Rama 9 to Daokanong in the morning for work. I take two high way to reach my destination. I was thinking of picking up my two friends and drop them at Silom. Since i can't drop them at silom road itself so i was thinking if it is possible to release them on the highway at silom exit and they can walk down. Their office is next to Holiday inn.

i haven't seen anybody getting down on the high way and walking down. though i have noticed at victoria monument side ppl getting down walking from the VAN.

usually it is heavy traffic during the morning time at silom exit. I see some highway police standing at that exit. my thai is not the best otherwise i would have asked them.

  4. support.jpg

i have seen many ppl using this equipment in their car. But i'm not sure what is this called or how this helps the performance of the car. Can anybody please shed some light regarding this?

i'm having few more problems such as:

    1. My car is manual gear. The clutch has gone really hard to press. I get tired while in the traffic. how do i fix it ?

    2. for last few days, i have noticed the light of the gauge meter has gone really dim. I can barely see the speed meter at night. Even though the head light and others are functioning well. what do i have to do here?

    my car: lancer 95.

    thanks so much.

  5. Sounds like one of your vacuum lines(hoses) has come off somewhere. Open the bonnet(cold engine, or you will get some nasty burns) and try to search for any loose hoses.

Typically smaller lines like 1/4", but there are a few larger ones as well like the brake servo assist vacuum line. Pay special attention to the intake manifold and the hoses connected to it.

If you can`t find anything, start the engine and listen for that "hiss" you mentioned.

    Good luck!

The hiss sound i get only when i drive........feeling helpless here. i hate car and computer problems..:o..

  6. i have just had my service done worth of 17000 baht from the mitsubishi service center in srinakarin. But ever since, i'm feeling my car is not as smooth as it should be. The mitsubishi guy said i have some problem with the lpg system and i should check it at the lpg center. But i didn't feel the problem before i gave to mitsubishi service center.

The engine is backfiring. When i accelarate, it pushes hard and shakes forward. But after i drive for 5 km, car gets smooth. But on neutral, sometimes the engine shuts off automatically. Even when reversing , the start goes off. Whenever i try to change from lpg to oil, it never starts. Even if it starts, i see lot of white smoke coming out from the exhaust , but the smoke doesn't appear while on LPG.

while driving, i hear lot of "ssssss" sound. Sounds like gas is passing even though i don't get any smell. I dont' see any leak as well. Gauge meter indicates gas is not leaking. Just i feel engine is having hard time getting the gas. i don't know....

The race, torque and speed is quite low now. I changed a new set of timing belt, new brake pad and many other things has been changed.

what should i do now? i feel i'm being cheated.......

  7. Hi all,

i have just made a good service. the mitsubishi guy told me that i've problem with my Lpg system. I hear lot of ''huss" sound while driving. the race of the car is very low and the speed could hardly reach to 110km even though the engine just has been serviced properly with timing belt set.

The guys said the gas is not passing to the engine properly hence the race and the speed reduced. not sure about this information. i don't get any gas smell while driving . even when i open the bonet i don't see any leakage or smell.

    need your idea..

  9. That gauge is OK.... but you say it used to be lower than that....so something has CHANGED........

before you spend money do a few basic checks.....

NB - BEWARE of hot water under pressure when opened or examining the radiator.

    Check

water level....is it low? Has it changed suddenly or over a long time?

If suddenly and there's a new fault ....

If a long time is maybe just acceptable water loss which would go unnoticed until the level is low enough to register a difference

Check the radiator rather than the transparent overflow bottle....just top it up....if needed....if not, this is not the problem...

can you SEE water coming out....check when HOT or parked - don't mistake air con drip.

are you getting WHITE smoke (steam) in the exhaust - this means water in combustion chamber - a leaky gasket. - garage job...

Radiator - air flow cools the water as it passes through the radiator.....IS IT OBSTRUCTED in any way? have you modifies the front end of the car...is there a dead animal across the radiator....anything that obstructs air flow.

have you fitted /changed anything on the car that might use more power? .....e.g. air-con, a trailer.....driving with the hand brake on...two fat passengers??

Under the hood/bonnet...can you see any traces of dried up sprays of water or leaks from the hoses?

and if possible chuck out the thermostat and run it without....if the symptoms go then buy and fit a new thermostat. (It will run fine without, but a sticking thermostat will cause problems)

Once you have checked all the easy options and this is an older car, go to your local mechanic....parts are quite cheap in Thailand and the bonus is LABOR - this means fixing a car is an economic possibility!

Hi, thanks for your tips. it was the fan.....stopped working...while i checked i saw it working but when i took to the service center, it wasn't working anymore...i had my radiator clean.

and about the coolent liquid...is it safe to put with the water? i heard it disturbs the engine......can i just buy from the shop and put coolant by myself?

well, it was not cheap..i spent around 17000 baht to change many things since it is an old car....

  10. yes, got my problem solved with 17500 baht from mitsubishi service center in srinakarin.....they were friendly..not the best english but she worked on it..u know the talking dictionary thing......she had shown all the problems in the car.....shown what has been replaced ...and gave my old parts back...gave me 3 months parts guarantee under 5000 km. .....change my belt timing set cost about 3500 baht.....altogether took around 3500 baht for labor....

they told me they will change the seal kit for power starring but after thorough check, they said it isn't necessary to change. There are some other parts they quoted but didn't change as they thought it is not necessary...

so far i'm happy with my car performance but it was quite expensive for an old car........however, it was necessary for full d-check.

  11. Its actually not that expensive given the number of parts and the labour involved (I got a quote from honda for my airbag sensor - almost 16000 baht!!). Do take your list and costs and ask at a few other garages (they will also want your business so they might just replace things that really do need replacing, so the cost might get lowered). The timing belt is important so make sure it's checked properly and replaced if necessary. You have 219K on the clock, so if its on the original belt (or even the second belt), it should be replaced. I've seen 100K intervals for the timing belt to be replaced. Fixing the tierods should make your suspension feel better...tighter.

great....thanks for the tips...i was confused about this belt thingy.

  12. well theres 2 ways of looking at it, if you want to keep car in my mind!

    get it done

well aint too much money and sometimes its better the devil you know, but that includes a service etc so not that bad of a shock, but not shopped about!

just get done the heating problem

Motor radiator cooling fan 5790 baht

    Hose radiator lwr 112 baht

    Hose radiator upr 266 baht

    clean radiator 400 baht

looking at it, maybe only that then, get service done later!

only problem with putting things off they tend to get worse rather than better and can cause more problems!

ie if they not making work up (is common in uk) End assy tie rod 2280 baht 2 piece maybe they bad to which if i read it right you could lose ya steering, but maybe only have a split in one of the boots which is common on older cars, not 100% right but no big deal!

i would be tempted to turn up at garage and ask to see all defective bits on car first, brake pads (in uk are a bounus item ie) they not that thick to start with so depends how low, centre wheeels thats i would think wheel alienment, very rarely even carried out (uk)

clean radiator, well thats not a big job and prob wont get more than a top up!

timming belt, have you got any previous paperwork stating if this has already been done and how many miles ago?

go take a look sunny and id prob just get fan done, and belts if they look cracked and put them in promise land to return at at later date!

let me know how ya get on mate!

thanks Cris......i really wanted this. Well, when i bought my 2nd hand car... a friend suggested me to keep another 20 grand to fix it. Well, i go today evening..they will explain me the problems..........

i really appreciate your support. This forum rocks!!

  13. Chri ...could you please tell me how much it would cost for a heart surgery in pattaya hospital?

i just got a fax from the mitsubishi center ....stating my car has lot of problems ...........my car is lancer 1993..i bought for cheap price and the owner said he had hardly any time for service.........well, i just had hot radiator and this is what they quote to me.

i don't know i should spend this much money for this old car........but for the time being, can anybody suggest which one shall i got for to reduce the hot...

  14. "i might need your support again once they quote the price to me."

no, car will be fine, You, will Need These help

    !!

    :o:D :D :D

oh dear!! do you think they will over charge me? .........at least i don't expect them to charge me extra.......as it is mitsubishi service center with show room.....and i guess i'm dealing with the manager there as she is the only one who can speak english........jesus! i hate this problems..

  15. thanks for the reply guys. i have noticed when i put water, after driving about 1 hour, the water reduces to 50% and the engine gets hot. Not only that, when i park my car after driving, i notice all the hot water pressures out from the cylinder.

However, since the local mechanic always try to rip me off, i thought it is time for me to give to mitsubishi service center. I have taken my car to srinakarin mitsubishi and they will check and let me know the estimate cost for whole d-check.

i might need your support again once they quote the price to me.

    thanks so much..

  16. Dear all,

since yesterday night, my old lancer is getting hot while drivin.....i have no idea why...i checked the water level and filled with fresh water.........it seems two of the fan was functioning ......AC is as cold as before...still i can see from the meter it is fluctuating .......it usually remains on 50% but now it as going as up as to 80%. ......even when i drive on 5th gear.........

my car is on LPG and i don't use oil much..just when i start it.

i'm getting worried about it. I'll take it to mechanic but before that i would like to know what's going on...i have noticed they always try to rip me off even though i'm coming with an old car....

now i have to drive back home driving at least 20 km on the high way.......

    suggestions please?

    car.jpg

  17. thanks for your reply guys. YES..it feels rock hard inside the car.....i guess it's the suspension problem............i better take my old car to authorized mitsubishi service center and have it checked properly. since i don't know anything about engine, i better spend few couple of thousand baht and have it checked from the trusted source.

any idea mitsubishi service center near Ramkhamheang?

really..you guys have been very supportive...i appreciate it.

  18. What even confuses and puzzles me more is how all the Indian tailors get work permits and visas. Most are younger guys under 50 and they stand all day touting for business.

most of these touting ethnic Indians are thai citizens. they don't need work permits and of course they don't need visas. as simple as that.

    WRONG!

how many of them are thai citizens? ......i'm bangladeshi and i have seen many of them at khao-san road tailor shops. All of them has their WP. You guys are mistaken them as indians. I still wonder how they get their WP as they never told me clearly, i make my suit and shirts done in very cheap price from these friendly guys.

yes, many indians in silom road who are broker for gems and jewelry. who hardly can speak a single word of english and has no education what so ever. How do they get WP?

Or perhaps, it's easy for bangladeshi and indians to get visa/wp as these countries doesn't make big fuss for thai citizen to enter their country. :o

  19. didn't want to open another thread regarding this..........my friend was refused to provide wp3 letter from the labor ministry stating he doesn't have work experience.......

do they required 1 year work experience to obtain wp? ..........is it a new rule?

didn't happen in my case coz i got new wp in january...

Since Feb 22nd, everything to do with the Labor Deot is more strict. A new sheriff is in town.

    www.sunbeltasiagroup.com

so that means it could be true?..........jesus!! what else is "new" here.............they are getting more strick.......then how the new graduate from international university will work here?
