  1. I can watch a movie any day, anywhere. I can only look out at the gorgeous scenery on the rare occasions I'm in an airplane. I hope I never lose my fascination with the size and beauty of what's below me in favor of some lousy, censored junk that Hollywood puts out. That said, I usually go to the back of the plane and look out the portholes on the back door so I don't disturb those around me and get those stares. Kind of sad, really.

Your point is taken. Like the majority of air travelers you are also clearly the sort of person who places more importance on not disturbing others than a simple urge to look out of the window. Whatever the view.

After all, watching a crappy movie disturbs no one else, drunks talking loudly, the frequent pissers* in a window seat, the daylight blind openers all have one thing in common - They have made a mental decision not to be concerned with the comfort of others...

I really can't believe anyone is stupid enough to open a window blind and leave it open, flooding the cabin with light without thinking 'F@#K everybody else, I paid for my ticket and I'll do what I like'....

I do feel sorry for parents travelling with unruly kids. There is not much they can do, or much those around them can do. However, I do suspect the parents may be to blame in the first place.

Writing with minimal experience: My sisters have playful and noisy kids who are apparently remarkably well behaved on flights, because they are told to play quietly - to be honest most kids on a flight are the same. Like the oaf who opens the window blind, the unruly kids are few an far between – we only really spot the naughty ones, not the good ones.

I’ve once sat in business class behind a couple with a 6 month old baby. Each time the baby cried the parents carried it off out of the cabin, we could still hear it, but the noise reduces. Each time the baby cried it was fed or the parents did what they can to comfort their child. Again, a lot of this comes down to education and consideration for others. I’ve seen other parents of young babies just let their child lie there and scream – this I can’t tolerate, at least do something, i.e. bottle, dummy, take them to the galley etc… (obviously difficult when landing or taking off).

*I call them that as they seem pee to such a frequency they must be collecting air-miles for each journey to the toilets.

Babies cry mostly on take off and landing because of the cabin pressure variations :wai:

  3. Frontline has been around for ages, and ticks are getting immune to the chemical 'fipronil' that is used here.

En-Dex 4000 contains the chemical 'ivermectin' and that's what kills parasites on animals and humans too. You can find a dog shampoo with this chemical and it works just as well too. This works if Frontline does not work.

I have tried giving crushed garlic in the dogs food and found this effectively prevents parasites too. No chemicals needed. Feed 1/2 teaspoon of crushed garlic twice a week for 4 weeks, and then a weekly 'maintenance' does of 1/2 teaspoon.

Alternatively you can feed garlic powder that can be found in most supermarkets. Give same dosage.

And NO, your dog does not smell of garlic. 5555

Oh! Forgot to add that ivermectin is fatal to sheep herding dogs, like the collie and sheepdog breeds. Also do not administer to kittens.

What about smaller breeds of dogs like Jack Russell etc?

Our Jack takes half a tablet a month as indicated in the directions (5Kg half tablet) Go You Jacks!!

  4. Sorry i shouldve mentioned it was Skype interview over the phone, the guy looked Thai.

The are asking me to send $100.

As i suspected this looks like a scam, i will not be sending any money and will not be taking any offers of jobs from them.

Thanks again, i just wanted to double check my suspicions.

Wise move, I've worked through Agents for years and yes initial interview is with the agency so they are happy with the candidates' abilities.

But the employer has always required an interview albeit phone or in person.

I have never been asked to pay agency fees, these are normallypaid by the agents' customer.

  5. Thanks for the replies. The job was advertised on a TEFL site. I applied through it, the agency then emailed me to say they had put my CV forward to the company who the job would be with. I then received an email from the company asking when I could schedule a phone interview with them. I had a telephone interview and then received an email from the company to say they were offering me the job and they were passing my details back to the agency in order to process my application. The agency requested that i pay the agency fees before they will process anything

Initially i thought that it was a scam but wanted to find out if anyone had heard of either of these two companies before i did anything.

The job on offer is for an administration manager.

Thanks again for all your help.

A phone interview serves to create a short-list, you should be requested attend a formal interview.

Somthing wrong, don't send any money, anyway how much are the "Agency" asking you to send?

  6. TiT...

Obviously, the government doesn't know what's going to happen at all.

There's lots of water in lots of places. A lot of it has to come through Bangkok.

I live out in Krungthep Krita area. I have sandbagged around my house and with the elevation of our village, I should be good to about 100cm to 150cm. Above that, it's just going to come into the house and there will be a lot of damage, which I imagine wont be repaired for a long time.

I'm just going to err on the safe side. Worse case scenario that I am considering is 2-3 metres of water that we have seen upcountry. This may sound ridiculous but I don't trust anything that's coming out of the media right now.

    Good luck all....

    Pedro

I live on Krungthep Kreetha also. Apart from minor flooding on the main soi (same as every year) the sub sois are generally dry so far

I live on Krungthep Kreetha Yaek 7 but am working in Seoul presently so don't have a clue what is happening there,

Please would you update this post or PM me if KK starts to sink.

    Thanks

    Paul

  8. A Court-issued warrant is required for police to enter all private premises, unless there is a crime taking place in plain view.

This would be the proper legal way to do things.....but when did the BiB start following the requirements of the law ?.....

Happened to me, they came knocked on my door, showed a court issued warrant tossed the place and found nothing. Said thank you and would I sign the back of the warrant, apologized and left.
