  1. I've never seen a Farang reading a classical book in a beer bar.
  2. You would welcome these penalties to every country in the world, cos even with harsh strict policing and cameras everywhere and harsh penalties, UK has over 80,000 DUI a year and USA has roughly 1.5 Million DUI's in any given year. It's the nature of the drug, it's a drug that many people want more of and more and just another and one more for the road. Zero tolerance, death sentence for offenders, life without parole for wine gums, Bananas have Alcohol, 50 year sentence per banana maybe, crucifixion for eating Bread also ?
  3. Obviously some controls are needed regarding DUI of a lot of drugs that impair, prescription drugs included. Alcohol is socially acceptable even though it is responsible for so many deaths and social problems, violence etc, drinkers don't like to label it a drug, but it is a drug, a dangerous one at that. It's so easy to have 2 beers, then wonder if you'll still be safe when you've had 3, had a big meal, maybe be alright with 4, maybe even 5, oh to hell with it, give me another, I'm not drunk, I'll be ok, I'll take the back roads etc etc etc......It's that kind of drug, it dehydrates you so even if you are drinking loads, you'll still wake up with a dry mouth, more please, I'm thirsty, tricky drug is Alcohol, more and more and more, then you are drunk and convinced you're ok, everybody can see you're drunk, but you convince yourself that you're not. I've been there.
  4. Let's face it, not many countries are really serious about it. Or there would be a Zero Tolerance policy and massive repercussions, and that just won't happen in most countries.
  5. About 1.5 Million DUI's in USA any given year, seems they don't learn either. In the UK 85,000 convicted of Drink Driving in England and Wales alone, they just don't learn. Nearly every Farang I know who drinks and has a motorbike or car drinks and drives in Thailand too. They do it in countries where the penalties are harsh, you think they will not do it in Thailand ? So it's not a them and us situation i.e. Thai's are bad and Farangs are good, they are humans, mostly, and humans drink and drive ! If they Deported and blacklisted Farangs drink driving, it would put an immediate stop to it If a Thai was facing 20 years in Jail for drink driving, that would put a stop to it. But it's not going to happen, so just like USA and UK, drivers will drink and drive, both Thai and Farang. ( Of course no member of this forum would ever do it) I mean the rest !
  6. What's that supposed to mean, these are mainly Tourists in Wong Amat, plenty of Thais too, but I noticed Most Thais wear Masks, and most Farangs don't.
  7. I live in Wong Amat, believe me, many, most Farangs are not wearing masks, why would I make it up ?
  8. Globally there are about 1.3 Million road related Deaths and 10's of Millions of Injuries, best not to drive anywhere on the planet, and don't forget to wear a mask, don't poison yourself with Alcohol or be stupid enough to smoke cigarettes the last 2 alone kills Millions each and every year.
  9. Be careful out there chaps, ThaiFriendly isn't so customer friendly now, many Covid cases amongst the regulars, Idiot Farangs walking about with no mask, why don't the police start fining these people, 1000 first offense, 10.000 second, 100,000 and deportation 3rd. Happy New Year
  10. If the government had any balls they would have banned the sale of Alcohol for the entirety of this pandemic.
  11. Nearly every Farang I know who has a motorcycle or car and drinks Alcohol, drinks and drives, they would think twice about it in their own countries, but in Thailand nearly all do it. Yeah yeah, I know ThaiVisa members are different.......right.
  12. Oh and by the way, It's not just Thai guys dropping their girlfriends off to a Bar or GoGo, many Farangs had girlfriends earning the money too. Again, it's a generational thing, her Farang boyfriend wouldn't have been 70 Years old, but hopefully for her , her customers would have been, I had a friend a German guy, 26-27 good looking guy, blond slim, blue eyed, girls loved him. His Gf worked in Sabailand in Pattaya and used to give him money everyday to go out for a drink, he was broke but she loved Rudi, she went with the other guys for only one reason, it was a job, she said it meant nothing to her her heart belonged to Rudi I had a Friend who came to Pattaya to find an Old White Guy to help her pay for University, OWG's she would call them, funny, they meant nothing, and she carried on with her life and is now a Government Teacher far away from her previous life that is now deleted from her memory.
  13. In the west they can choose not to work, get pregnant as teenagers' and know that the government will have to take care of them, knock out a few more kids and get a bigger house, everything paid by the taxpayer. Now if they didn't have that situation, the Nanny state to fall back on, how many do you think would do anything to feed their families ? My Grandfather was in Germany in 1945 at wars end, many German woman had to do whatever it took to put food on the table.
  14. Yup, I had some Old guy telling me all about Thailand, the people, the women situation, the horrors of driving here and not to do it, he was telling this as a 73 year old who had lived here for 3 years, of course he didn't know I had been here 30 years, I just let him carry on until he had exhausted every put down of Thailand and Thai people ha had in his repertoire, then I dropped the bombshell, he said no more about the subject, I sympathize with him and understand where he himself is coming from, but we looked at Thailand completely different, cos his experience started as an old man, mine didn't so I'm not bitter and twisted.
  15. Exactly, 'My Friend' claims to have had a 3some yesterday with 2 such people from that very site, they arrived on a Vespa one of the girls owns.
  16. Kratom in the coffee, I don't know what I'm typing about, but it seems to make sense to me ???? Nothing personal, Happy New Year.
  17. I reckon you are in the came here young many years ago category and never left, like myself, you have a very similar attitude to my way of of thinking, I came here in 1990 and was 35, and I stayed. So the way I look at things here is completely different to a guy that came here in his 60's or 70's. I have no idea, but you do have a good understanding of Thailand as opposed to many on here who don't appear to have a clue. You have seen many different aspects of Thailand through actually living it, not reading about it, by experience, I could be totally wrong though, but that's how you come across. Happy New Year.
  18. You ain't in Switzerland where the poor are looked after, here in Thailand things are a little different. BangkokReady ? You sure about that ? No disrespect, but you don't appear to have a <deleted> clue about the real world where poor people struggle to survive with no help from Governments if they fall on hard times, they do whatever to survive, just like they did in your own country before the State Taxed the <deleted> out of everything to be able to look after the unfortunates in society.
  19. Let the families starve, that'll teach them for daring to be poor, is that your answer ?
