More toxic hypocrisy from the general who pointed weapons at his own people...in order to hijack their government and steal their country.

Maybe because China has already bought Thailand outright….and now the Chinese are just selling houses to each other.

"Multiple opposite statements? Confusing the issue? Even when educated?" Where does this nonsense come from? It seems that a desire to be hailed as some sort of expert can be obviously more important to some than having a solid grip on the truth. Making up reasons to vent aggression when certain facts are not hailed as holy, universal divine truth, is not only silly...it's dead wrong!
By the way....what are these multiple opposite statements? I made a couple of basic, straightforward and factual posts. Simple facts. No editorializing and no conclusions as to current Immigration policy.
My Nov10 post > I entered in 2006 on an O-A and have been doing uninterrupted extensions in Bangkok since then.
I did my most recent retirement extension last week (7 Nov) at CW. No one asked about insurance. The extension was approved for the normal one year.
I then obtained a multiple re-entry permit the same day. Again, no one mentioned insurance.
Both procedures were virtually identical to last year.
Other than the long wait...it was a painless day.
But it seems to outrage some people who are not prepared to accept anything that doesn't necessarily meet simplistic and preconceived notions of Thai Immigration procedures.
Snide, baseless accusations of me 'trolling' this topic are blatantly ridiculous. Just because I related that I was issued an extension on 7 November on a long series of extensions that began with an O-A visa? An experience that someone may have taken as some some sort of threat to their own self-appointed, loudly announced status as 'resident expert' If someone is so determined to be an expert than it might be advisable to be more careful, more perceptive and more analytical when attempting to identify facts
It doesn't make sense to be irrationally outraged and take great exception to the fact that I refused to alter my very simple and very factual experience...even after being offered the "education" that was so grandly offered....as well as to provide the 'verification' so arrogantly 'demanded'. It even came as a surprise that I was not offered 'altitude adjustment.
I'm terribly sorry I missed the appointment of the TV Lord High Verification Authority and Supreme Arbiter of Truth. But it's probable that some others have also not yet received this news.
In the meantime, with Immigration policies and procedures in a state of flux...maybe we should do a better job of considering news that doesn't necessarily fit a certain mold.

As that is counter to so many other experiences are you absolutely sure it was an OA initial visa ??
And as there are many trolls making it hard to get accurate info could you post images of the visa, extension stamp, etc with any identifiers removed. Are you freaking serious? I know damned well what visa I entered the country with. And I'm not going to play any silly 'show and tell' games with you. You're free to believe me or to not believe me. Up to you.

I initially started with an O-A. I successfully did a retirement extension and got a multiple re-entry permit yesterday (7 Nov) at CW. No one so much as mentioned the word 'insurance'. Everyone might want to calm down some...until there are more facts and fewer speculations.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
Trying to find a US based mail forwarding business. Someone who can forward certain mail, scan and email other items and destroy/shred junk mail. A street address, telephone connectivity and overall reliability are important.
Especially interested to hear from anyone with personal experience to include potential problems, other things to be aware of, and any general observations regarding this process.
Specific recommendations via PM will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Neither the French nor the British were able to secure the appropriate work permits...and since all of their personnel had to leave every 90 days…effective colonization became exceedingly difficult and ultimately impractical.

so someone just told me today that they have changed things at CW. This person said that she went there yesterday around noon, and they have already finished 300+ numbers. Can someone who have recently been at CW confirm this?
I was there for a retirement extension this morning. Don't know about passport transfers but three hundred people by noon sounds off. Maybe depends on how you count.
The check in process was better and they’re getting people into the system faster…but then it goes into the usual slow motion. And they’re still insisting up silly things like drawing maps and making repeated runs for copies that waste a lot of time. There were also a generous number of agents doing their typical queue-jumping…which wasted more time.
I saw the IO at 0915 but didn’t get my passport back until after 1100…so the overall ‘hurry up and wait’ factor was similar to last year. The staff are still very much obsessed with minutia.
On the bright side…the Re-Entry section was very fast…and best of all……there were “NO TIPS” signs all over the place.

Of course it's permissible. Especially if you have an elaborate collection of graphic tattoos that you know everyone will want to admire.

Okay…you say you have no problem paying for repairs to her car. Yet you seem unduly concerned with what might happen if you don’t.
Sorry, but it sounds as if you’re looking for an out.
If you were responsible and you promised to make good, then answer your phone and keep your word.

If you’ve ever done military time then you might consider a ‘wai’ as similar to a salute.
It is initiated by the lower ranking person and acknowledged by the higher ranking person. This is why Thais laugh at foreigners who 'wai' the waitress; it's like the colonel saluting the corporal. The most common indicator of rank is probably age and you shouldn't initiate this with someone younger than you. If you want to 'wai' someone then find an elderly person deserving of respect.
However, since we're not part of their system, it's probably better not to initiate...but it is polite to respond.

The next time you leave the country maybe carry your old passport with you. Although everything has been transferred your TM 6 will still show your old passport number. I was in this situation and the Immigration official (who seemed somewhat new) was a bit put off by the discrepancy. Although it was not a real problem, having the old passport in hand helped to resolve things.

Apologies for drifting north...but for those in Bangkok....

I disagree with the generalization that Thai people are not bothered by such things, many are as they will express in private BUT they know their culture and know that the little noodlle must not question or confront the big noodle (sen yai or pu yai) they just endure as do we.
i think you're right. However, a factor here may be that a lot of locals have grown up and live in very close quarters. So they learn at a young age to put up with other people's ....um...idiosyncrasies; and the associated auditory consequences. it's one of those 'facts of life' you can't change, so you just deal with it.
Then there's always the (vitally important) issue of not wanting to step on someone else's (especially those of higher rank) so-called merriment/enjoyment.
Along these lines a lot of people appear to have developed an ability to essentially 're-tune the frequency' and not be overly bothered by otherwise invasive and irritating noise. A survival mechanism of sorts.
I've asked people to show me how it's done, but they just smile.
A 'How To' book on this would be a best seller.

Initially you mentioned throwing the old passport away. Even if you concluded you had no use for it, throwing it away might not be the best way to dispose of it.
Thai tourism: Free visa is the answer for yet more Chinese and Indians in 2020, minister

Brilliant…absolutely brilliant. Hundreds of thousands of Indian billionaires are eagerly waiting for an opportunity to visit Thailand…but are put off by the cost of a visa. Eliminating this cost will clearly solve the problem once and for all. Once again, keen, insightful, and bold Thai tourism analytics saves the day.
