@Peciacake and @Alotoftravel have both bought one. So hopefully they will reply to this or you could message them.

I sat in while @Peciacake did a test drive and I was very impressed with how much car you get for the money. He hasn't reported any problems since his purchase

Everything is fine so far except for the issues on steep mountain trips. This was mentioned in this youtube . Not sure it is all J5 but I certainly experience it like Bjorn.

@Peciacake Any feedback after living with the Jaecoo 5 EV for a few days?

I have the car for just over a month. The only peculiar item is the car makes a bed creaking sound at sharp turns . I experienced it during my mountain trip (mon jam) here in chiang mai.

according to jaecoo , this is normal as esp was in play . I will need to look at my dashboard in the future when this creaking sound happens again .

it was alarming when the bed creaking sound occurred. Jaecoo said it is safe to drive as this is the norm.

  3. No the dealer did not ask for the deposit because he is not providing me the red plate .

i am not sure if i get any DLT receipt at the time i pick up my car as he said as a foreigner i will need to show the original id/yellow book when i get the registration. He did confirm i will insurance coverage at drive off but will verify when i get the receipt of the car purchase for my cashiers cheque.

Process is always changing in thailand and wanted to check with you all with  driving off the a newly purchased car with no red plates . Thanks

  4. I finally bought my first ev car today in chiang mai , jaecoo 5 ev max. I have a a question about redplate , registration of my car and appreciate your thoughts.

Previously i bought a car , the dealer would give me the red plate while they registered my car . Once registration is completed, i would get my blue book and I return their red plate (and get my deposit).

However, i was informed today that i will not get the red plate. I will be provided a document of new car sale that would allow me to drive the car. I am to return later where the dealer will register and provide me the blue book.

Just checking this is all good to ensure  proper insurance and legality to drive without red plate.

    Appreciate your comments. Thanks

  5. Update from from the Social Security Administration

We are writing to inform you of important updates regarding mailing services in Thailand and the submission of Social Security forms.

Temporary Suspension of Thailand Post First-Class Mail Services

Thailand Post has temporarily suspended its first-class/standard mailing service to the United States due to new customs deposit requirements. However, courier services such as DHL, UPS, and other partners of Thailand Post remain available. While these services may be more expensive, they are reliable options for sending official documents to the United States.

    Social Security Forms Submission

Given the mail disruption, we recommend sending completed and signed SSA-7161/SSA-7162 forms directly to the following address via courier with tracking capability (e.g., FedEx, DHL, UPS):

    Social Security Administration

    U.S. Embassy – Manila

    Attention: FEQ

    1201 Roxas Boulevard, Ermita

    Manila, Philippines 0930

Please note that forms cannot be submitted via email or fax.

If you have further questions or need assistance, please contact the Federal Benefits Unit in Manila or visit the SSA website for guidance.

They give you a T-Box from Jaecoo.

    1. Notes:
    * Check car status: Check important car status information such as battery level (for electric vehicles), mileage, and cabin temperature.
    * Remote control: Remotely control certain functions, such as:
    * Pre-conditioning: Set the desired temperature and pre-activate the air conditioning before boarding to ensure the car is at the right temperature.
    * Activate heating functions: Heat the seats, steering wheel, or windshield (depending on the model and equipment installed).
    * Turn on/off the lights and horn: Makes it easier to locate the car in large parking lots.
    * Check tire pressure: Check the tire pressure of all four tires before setting off for safety.
    2. Notes:
    * Notes: View charging status information, including the remaining time to fully charge.
    * Charge schedule: Set a charging schedule in advance to match the charging schedule. Off-peak electricity periods
    3. Notes:
    * Find your car's location: You can check the current location of your car on a map (e.g., Google Maps) and navigate to it.
    * Set up a virtual fence: You can define a radius around your car. If the car moves outside the designated area, the app will immediately notify you.

I assume this T-Box, is an application installed on my mobile , perhaps it is Box i attach to the usb port. This box is what is required to connect to internet. Not sure.

My TBox mobile  app will connect to Car via internet (thus require internet connectivity, sim embedded in the car. As I said, my salesperson has no clue that it has internet nor mobile  app. Thus also said no OTA for system upgrade, I guess when the car arrives, it will be apparent.

I did call in their service center but they are not prepared to service anyone, part of a new organization and learning the ropes. (my bad as seek help in English).  Just wait to get the car

in my opinion, the byd sealion 7 awd is a great car and i love to drive it ...

Appreciate if you can your share your experiences with the sealion 7. The dealer told me software is an issue for this model  and also be prepared to wait longer for spare parts as it is currently imported .

I test drove the awd version ( no premium to test drive ), I am leaning towards awd anyway  ( only 100k more ) but online reviews indicated that the premium was preferable , drivability /control and non overpowering unlike the awd performance which has dual engines 4.9 sec.

    I appreciate your inputs. Thanks

The reev version looks interesting but not much information of the total cost of ownership, Is this version cost less per Km driven than the BEV)?

Real life experience question for reev future owners, is do i need to fill gasoline if i have always have battery left?
