'm in CM on retirement visa for 2+ years now.  I don't have any tax deducted on my normal savings accounts.  Bangkok bank only deducts tax from my fixed deposit account interest payments.  I have provided my Thai tax ID to all my banks and requested cessation of tax withholding

    Gambloor,

Where and how did you obtain your tax id in chiang mai? Thanks for your info.

  2. I was informed by my bank that if I have a Thai tax id, they will not withhold taxes when they issue my interest.

i was not able to search for this information in asean website  . I would appreciate any information how I can obtain and where in chiang mai. Thanks

Well, a US Form 1040 has line items for my Air Force pension, for my Social Security, and for conventional (taxable) IRAs. Also, other line items for income acceptable by BoI, namely dividends and interest (and I would believe capital gains is acceptable, as one of the "other" forms of income solicited by the BoI). So I would think this snapshot of all my taxable income would be, in full, acceptable in satisfying the income requirement

Yeah in our 1040 , the line #9 where it states total income which lists all your drawdowns , interest/dividend , ss, capital gains , etc.

need to show 2 years worth

  4. For me, the 10 years visa started on the day notification letter was approved .

I received my letter Oct 4th.

i have 2 months to get the visa stamped , Dec 3rd, if not , I start the process again .

And my 10 years visa expired Oct 3rd, 2032 per the letter .

. Of course this might change when I really get my passport stamped next week in Bangkok boi.

A note to my self is to get the 5th year renewal requirements since we have been approved for 10 years and paid 50k upfront .

    Hate surprises …

  5.  I did forget to  ask whether or not the annual visit to Immigration for reporting can be negated by exiting the country just prior to year end and then returning just after the end of the first year and so on......
    /—-//-//—//——

i did ask, yes it is negated if you exit the country but I forgot to ask if i can use the current 90 days online for yearly visit if we do not exit the country.

    never ending questions

I would.  I called this morning and confirmed mine.  Then downloaded the two forms and completed them.  I just returned from having my photos taken.  Everything is copied and ready for my appointment tomorrow.  I will report back then.  I know someone was going to pop in today, maybe they will report back.

Here are links to the two needed forms.

    Thanks for the forms.

Will make appointment after i uploaded my updated insurance. Boi accidentally gave me the notification letter which they later retracted (i did downloaded it before they removed it)

I just think it is interesting that my 10 years visa started on my preapproval email and not when they issue the visa stamp nor when i submit my insurance. So clock is ticking i guess .

New today, went to the LTR BOI App to check the status of my application and instead of clicking check status I clicked the LTR button on top and this popped up.  Never had that happen before.  I was looking for the pop up with the phone numbers to call someone about the funky e-mails I have been receiving since no one else has been getting them.  Here is the latest pop up

I’ve also gotten this pop up but have not received any emails from BOI.

I thought we could go to our local Imm office to activate....? If LTR requires a trip to Bangkok, no thanks. Two hours to renew my current retirement extension at Chiang Mai Imm beats a roundtrip, with possible night overstay, to Bangkok -- not to mention peeing in a cup while in gridlock traffic.

    You could use e-visa platform:

Once the applicants obtain a qualification endorsement letter from Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), the applicant can apply for the Long -Term Resident Visa (LTR) through our e-visa platform.

  9. ThailandRyan or anyone who is granted approval :

Have a gotten any info what we need to bring to immigration to the annual check up ?

i am thinking they would want to see our

    1) insurance certificate for another year or $100k in bank for the insurance

    2) ?

    3)

i assume that in the 5th year , we should need to show income again, BOI or immigration ?

I am trying to think all that is needed so that our initial 50k baht fee is able to see all 10 years worth .

it would be nice to have this info before coughing up the fee . Any feedback would be appreciated .
    Thanks
