No dash cam but can fit what you like no warranty issue

Did you mean you can add that small BYD camera and splice into their

Wiring harness (video install instructions ) without impacting the car warranty?

  2. Anyone know if the ByD seal moved to one pedal brake driving . I know the dolphin and Otto did not subscribe to one pedal ( Volvo and Tesla uses one pedal)  i am not sure if it is better with one pedal braking , just different tech as   BYD does a similar regen process that uses the brake too for regen for a moother ride ).

TBH I don't really see the point of not getting the model with the most range / most power available. Better to have more range / overtaking capability than you may need rather than find yourself wanting more. Can't upgrade once you've bought it ...

Also I am sure the Extended range will be easier to sell if/when etc.

Yes , I am in the same camp, choosing the extended over the standard .thanks for your thoughts .

I Will pull the trigger sept 29th, however I

hope the BYD seal introduction  on sept 28 does not sway my decision .

    Haha

  4. Hi everyone ,

thanks for your feedback . I have 2 weeks to decide before I give 4k deposit .

    BKKBike09,

Can you share your reasons why you decided on then dolphin extended (160k baht more ) versus the standard .

For me,  I choose the extended over the standard is for :

    - the additional range (340 vs 420km wltp)   and power charge (60 vs 80kw)

    - ventilated seats

    - power and torque ( 15 vs 7 sec)

I can live without the sunroof, wireless charging, larger set wheels, but nice to have . Not sure if multi link suspension is better compared to the torsion .

  5. I am looking at below and asked for your thoughts to pull the trigger by end of September .

    BYD dolphin extended ( 859k )

    MG 4 D ( 769)

I believe the MG4d is a better choice than BYD dolphin standard due to MG4d larger battery /charge and RWD and only 70k more . However for 90k more , BYD dolphin extended peeks my interest to be considered . Appreciate MG owners and BYD owners to chime in.

My only known issue is what JBCchaingrai confirmed , the requirement to set drive mode and regen everytime you start the car . Thanks

Upon further investigation it also looks to be the case - praise be! - that owners can now permanently disable the 'safety' features of Predictive Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Emergency Lane Keeping. Previously these could only be disabled temporarily (start the vehicle, disable, switch off vehicle, they're all back on again).

Now it appears that, if selected off, they stay off when the car is powered back on. Switching any of them off still gives the message that it's only valid for the current 'ignition cycle', but that just seems to be a legacy message and not actually the case.

If these really all can be permanently disabled it's a huge plus. The Autonomous Emergency Braking is particularly hazardous in Bangkok traffic; I've had it activate twice when moving slowly forward in heavy traffic and a m/c has filtered through the gap between me and the car ahead. It's a full on braking action and it's more likely to get you rear-ended than to prevent an accident.  Same with Lane Keeping; if you don't indicate (e.g. edging over the central divider to see if you can overtake safely etc), it aggressively tries to pull you back into your lane. So very happy to see the back of all these 'features'.

are all your BYD settings i.e drive mode ( sport/normal ) or regen does not need to be set up when you cycle the car too  ?

this is great if you do not have to set up again everytime you get in . I am not sure but I think (mg 4 drivers can confirm ) that settings done on the screen to change regen or drive mode needs to be set up again everytime and are not set permanently . I saw on you tube that this was one thing owners hope will change in future updates.

One gripe I have with the Atto is that here in Thailand the only range estimate it shows is based on a starting point of 480 km at full charge, which is not very realistic. There's no option for dynamic range estimation. Very irritating as it's only a software tweak, and is available in other markets. Hopefully BYD will unlock this here at some point.

Somewhere I read that the technician can programatic changed to WLTP versus their starting point of NEDC even with no dynamic range est.

     420 (WLTP) 480 (NEDC)

  8. Thanks for the info . BYD dealer informed me that the price is suppose to be 1 million baht for the dolphin extended and thus might be that price once subsidies are eliminated . This can about when the insurance coverage was at 1 million instead of purchase price of 849,000 baht.

The dealer did not give much details of this subsidy that is why I asked in the forum . So basically the lower price of BYD/mg compared to Tesla /Volvo  is the tax incentive given because BYD and mg have committed to build in Thailand unlike Tesla or Volvo ex30 at this time who only enjoy less import tax for ev cars

Thought I would add my experience receiving my very first 7162.

I just received mine today (July 29, 2023). Date on form is June 2, 2023. Nakhon Ratchasima. Out in the boondocks and the post office here (a small shack by the roadside which is closed most of the time) and the post lady has a bad habit of stocking the mail and when it is convenient for her, she goes on her rounds and drops off the mail.

Based on what I have read above, it looks like I should be ok if it is received by the end of August.

Should it not be Aug 1st as the last day and not end of Aug ,  60 days from June 2nd for our 1st mailing 7162?

  10. Thanks for the url, I checked website and found that

The basic coverage $500,000 limit includes below wording  , does that mean they cover  pre existing , like high BP and cholesterol chrinic illness . Wow , good april FR coverage if that is the case. With $ 500 deduct, the insurance premium is reasonable compared to Thai with no cover on pre existing .

Hospitalization and other types of care in case of chronic illness “

    this is a good choice

  11. Hi Sheryl,

I am looking for an international insurance for myself . Since there are no broker referral for April (French) insurance on this discussion , i google and found this

    https://www.april-international.com/en/long-term-international-health-insurance
and enter info  to get a quote . Is this the same company and this how you got yours . I am an American, living long term in Thailand that needs medical coverage .Thanks
