  1. Touch wood.....i have never had a visit from immigration, or the police. Never had any problem at immigration either, nothing that going and making another photo copy didn't cure. I have never bribed them, apart from paying 500 baht for a certificate of residency, but if you don't pay, you don't get.

Do you people steal cars, or rob banks or something?

A lot of people seem to get refused for this, and refused for that, because of missing paperwork, or worse, just having the wrong attitude. Think ahead, get what they want BEFORE going there, and be hassle free. cheers.

I stay at my girlfriends apartment she rents..... What is the certificate of residency and us that something I should get.... I visit on tourist visas staying for 3 month periods but will be getting a non O visa this year

  2. So my 60 day single entry tourist visa is still valid until the original departure date. Can I on my return extend that original tourist date is it 30 days?... If I got married to a Thai during my 60 day stay could I apply for an extension on my original single entry tourist visa and how long would an extension be

  3. This is where getting tough or completely stopping visa runners has my vote. These guys stay here simply by skimming cards. My card was skimmed last year, I contacted the bank and money was back in my account along with a new card within 48 hours. Never found out if they ever caught the person/people responsible.

what rote toon do Thai banks offer clients who find money has been taken from their accounts by scimmers?.. Western banks will refund you the money stolen but I am not sure what Thai banks do in this case.

  4. Just looked on Siam Legal site who state the following....

If you are not in the country when the report is due, the counting of 90-day period before your next reporting will start again after upon re-entry to Thailand.

OK that answers that so basically I only need to report every 90 days while I am in Thailand

But as previously stated I intend travelling in and out of Thailand 3 times a year, Siam Legal state on this basis I will need a METV.... But they then go onto to say I could get a re-entry visa. Can anyone please explain how that would work for my travel needs ..

    Re-entry Permit

If you plan to travel in and out of Thailand during the year of your visa validity, you will need a multiple re-entry permit to do so and to avoid your visa from getting cancelled. Otherwise, you need not apply if you plan to stay in Thailand the whole time.

In case you find the need to leave the country for whatever reason, you can apply for a re-entry permit at the nearest Immigration Office or at the international airport before leaving the country.

  5. Just read on a visa site that if I get a marriage visa I need to ...After obtaining the Marriage Visa, the holder needs to notify at the nearest Immigration office every 90 days.

Is this correct? The reason being is that I intend to get married but will be travelling backwards and forwards to Thailand and some times I will be away from Thailand for more than the 90 days reporting span. What are my best options? A possibility is the retirement visa as I can match the requirements for that but I am not sure of the reporting span for that is it again 90 days?

  6. In the middle of April I am planning a short one week honeymoon with my Thai wife but would like some thoughts from the forum as to which local country from Bangkok they would recommend. We both like visiting places of architectural interest, places of historic interest, places of natural beauty, and of course the malls or street markets.

  7. I am needing some advice what are my best options regarding visas to stay in Thailand for 4 months. I plan to arrive in Thailand mid March and after 26 days get married in Bangkok and then fly out to Cambodia for one weeks honeymoon. Then return back to Thailand where I want to stay a further 3 months before leaving Thailand.... And will return back to Thailand about one month later... Stay a further 3-4 months leave Thailand for one month and return again for 3-4 months and repeat this cycle for about one year. I am over 50 yrs old and have sufficient finances to meet the retirement visa requirements, but at this time I am reluctant to put a large sum of money into a Thai bank but have a sufficient monthly income to meet the requirements. Any constructive advice as to least hassle options would be appreciated.

  8. I think looking at past new there were 4 bombs that exploded in Hat Yai last year so I guess the bulletin was in response to this..... I am still coming to Hat Yai in September and will judge the place when I spend a few weeks there. any recommendations on good restaurants that have live music would be appreciated.
