  1. Sad to hear of a life lost, seemingly needlessly. RIP mate.

Even sadder though, reading the speculative, insensitive garbage some posters spew out - with absolutely no facts or even suspicion of wrong doing.

Here's a tip - when you are finished typing your tripe, sit back and read it again; only this time pretend there is a real person sitting opposite you - you know, someone who would punch you in the mouth for your ignorance. Perhaps a friend of the deceased, or family member.

Then decide if you really want to make such a dickish comment.

    You know who you are...

    Could not agree more.

  2. I had exactly this situation a couple of years ago. Three months after we moved out of our old office the Landlord called me screaming and shouting that we had removed some a/c units - which we had not. He would not listen so I just ignored him. Three months later he filed a Criminal Damage charge with the Police. My lawyer said we had a 95% chance that the Courts would throw this out. However, the case would first have to go to the District Prosecutor and my Passport would be taken from me and I would be unable to leave the country until the case was resolved. This could take 3 years and longer if we succeeded and he appealed. For family reasons in the UK I could not afford to be restricted in my ability to travel, so the advice was to pay up and move on, which we did. The Police as you would expect were totally useless and made no attempt to investigate.

Advice to the OP - right or wrong - you have two options. Ignore this and it may go away but if he does file with the Police you may have to pay up but make sure you go with a lawyer and with documentation stating that you are paying as an ex gratia payment without admitting liability simply to resolve the issue.

  3. Hi guys,

I have learned about making artificial limbs with donated aluminum pull tabs. I saved alot for donation and don't know where to go. I am in malaysia.

    Thanks in advance.

I know a few people who collect these pull tabs, for that purpose, but don't know where they go.... I will see if I can find out ...in Thailand at least wink.png

I believe that it is someone at Nathon Hospital. I am 2 -3 steps from the contact but I will try and trace them.

It's a real buugger having to drink those beers just to get the ring pull!whistling.gifburp.gif

This is the link to the Prostheses Foundation which benefits from the ring pull tabs.

  4. A few weeks ago we were sitting in a bar in Bangrak, my car was parked on the opposite side of the road and completely off the road. A taxi somehow managed to leave the road and run into the back of my car! By the time we got there the rather shaken passengers had got out and the driver was driving off leaving parts of his car behind! I have a pick up and there was no damage but he had no regard for his passengers - the lady was in some shock. We got the number but there was really nothing to do. This is Samui and you can imagine reporting this to the local plod would have been a waste of time - "What damage has been done? None!" End of story.. Nor were we quick enough to get a photo of him leaving so even reporting to the Transport Dept would have been fruitless.

  5. Unfortunately islandguy it is an inconvenience for me, as I have to close my business every time that I need to go to immigration. There is nothing I can do about it though and it is not P'Nok's fault.

Yes, the papers were probably the fax that he gets from BKK.

SamuiRes, usually the 90-day report takes me 10 minutes so coming back later is not too efficient. Do you have a WP or an extension based on marriage (or retirement)? They usually do mine quickly as they know I have to go back to work wink.png

Yes I have both a WP and an extension based on marriage. I am on that side of the island at least once week so arrange my appointments accordingly so going back for me is not issue. Having close your business though I can understand is.

  6. I went for my 90 stamp a couple of weeks ago and rather than fill in the usual form was given a slip of paper on which I was asked to write my current address. This was put in my Passport which I left with them and that was it. Come back later I was told. That I did (actually the next day) and everything was ready. Seems they just matched the address to what they already had on the computer system for me and that was enough. Quite efficient for a change I thought.
