Not a Resort, a small private luxury beach side Villa. A friend had been trying to contact him for several hours and eventually asked the villa owner to go with him and open the villa and check, which they did when they found him.

It was out when I got home about 17.00 but I am told it went out about 16.00. Did not come back until 20.00. Power outages are not usually that long - 4 hours! Really annoying when a couple of hundred metres down the road, everyone has power.

Power out in Plai Laem Soi 4 for over an hour now. Flickered back on a few minutes ago but went straight off.
-
Does anyone have any experience of this since the curfew was announced?
Are the buses still running?
-
Tipping it down now in Bangrak. Much needed and very welcome.

Power out in Plai Laem Soi 4 since 19.15. Anywhere else?
Came back at about 20.45

Deposited a USD 5,000 cheque to my company account about three years ago. Was told it would take 45 days to clear and that was about right. Cannot now remember the rate I received or the charges.

I had exactly this situation a couple of years ago. Three months after we moved out of our old office the Landlord called me screaming and shouting that we had removed some a/c units - which we had not. He would not listen so I just ignored him. Three months later he filed a Criminal Damage charge with the Police. My lawyer said we had a 95% chance that the Courts would throw this out. However, the case would first have to go to the District Prosecutor and my Passport would be taken from me and I would be unable to leave the country until the case was resolved. This could take 3 years and longer if we succeeded and he appealed. For family reasons in the UK I could not afford to be restricted in my ability to travel, so the advice was to pay up and move on, which we did. The Police as you would expect were totally useless and made no attempt to investigate.
Advice to the OP - right or wrong - you have two options. Ignore this and it may go away but if he does file with the Police you may have to pay up but make sure you go with a lawyer and with documentation stating that you are paying as an ex gratia payment without admitting liability simply to resolve the issue.

Hi guys,
I have learned about making artificial limbs with donated aluminum pull tabs. I saved alot for donation and don't know where to go. I am in malaysia.
Thanks in advance.
I know a few people who collect these pull tabs, for that purpose, but don't know where they go.... I will see if I can find out ...in Thailand at least
I believe that it is someone at Nathon Hospital. I am 2 -3 steps from the contact but I will try and trace them.
It's a real buugger having to drink those beers just to get the ring pull!
This is the link to the Prostheses Foundation which benefits from the ring pull tabs.

A few weeks ago we were sitting in a bar in Bangrak, my car was parked on the opposite side of the road and completely off the road. A taxi somehow managed to leave the road and run into the back of my car! By the time we got there the rather shaken passengers had got out and the driver was driving off leaving parts of his car behind! I have a pick up and there was no damage but he had no regard for his passengers - the lady was in some shock. We got the number but there was really nothing to do. This is Samui and you can imagine reporting this to the local plod would have been a waste of time - "What damage has been done? None!" End of story.. Nor were we quick enough to get a photo of him leaving so even reporting to the Transport Dept would have been fruitless.

Just left Tesco and we could see a fire in the hills in the direction of Phu Chaweng. Seemed to be wide enough for a brush fire, not concentrated in one spot as you would probably get with a house fire. Long dry spell with little rain, I suppose it is inevitable.

We went after work on Tuesday and I was very pleasantly surprised. Easy free parking, shaded undercover. A great added asset to Samui so well done Central. Yes you will pay more for quality branded goods and you will notice the difference if you have been used to paying for cheap rip offs. But then that is your choice and you can still get the rip offs elsewhere.
Was somewhat amused by the leaflet on my car when I got back.
"English Speaking Course - Native American Speaker"
I am sure I know what they meant, but could not help imagining Thais being taught to speak Cherokee or similar!

Unfortunately islandguy it is an inconvenience for me, as I have to close my business every time that I need to go to immigration. There is nothing I can do about it though and it is not P'Nok's fault.
Yes, the papers were probably the fax that he gets from BKK.
SamuiRes, usually the 90-day report takes me 10 minutes so coming back later is not too efficient. Do you have a WP or an extension based on marriage (or retirement)? They usually do mine quickly as they know I have to go back to work
Yes I have both a WP and an extension based on marriage. I am on that side of the island at least once week so arrange my appointments accordingly so going back for me is not issue. Having close your business though I can understand is.

I went for my 90 stamp a couple of weeks ago and rather than fill in the usual form was given a slip of paper on which I was asked to write my current address. This was put in my Passport which I left with them and that was it. Come back later I was told. That I did (actually the next day) and everything was ready. Seems they just matched the address to what they already had on the computer system for me and that was enough. Quite efficient for a change I thought.

I used to fly my kids to and from Abu Dhabi on a regular basis with BA and found them excellent with unaccompanied minors. Very strict on handover at both ends.

Looking for an exercise bike for the home.
Do not want an expensive bit of kit with computers etc.
Have looked in Big C so I know what is there.
Wondered if anyone has seen them being sold elsewhere on the island?
Failing that Surat?

Anyone know where this resort is?
Their web site indicates Moo 5, so Choengmon area.

Their Facebook page as of yesterday was still promoting a 29th March opening - including some of the tenants.
Lots of the businesses listed there.
https://th-th.facebook.com/CentralFestivalSamui
but looking at some of the "construction progress" pictures not sure how they will achieve that.
I wish them luck though. Maybe 29th is an auspicious day!

One of my Thai friends is involved in this and today was a practice for a big sea rescue exercise due to take place tomorrow with high rank police, army, air force and navy in attendance. Lots of "kow towing" expected I hear!
