  1. 1. No one as yet knows but I can predict there will be a limit.

    2. There is no legal limit to the number of TV's. However, many Embassy's/Consulates already limit the number they will issue.

    3. Not a good idea. You are required to be "in country" when a visa is applied for and passports will not be returned to a foreign address.

    4. If a bank account is a stipulated requirement I would imagine it will be enforced in the same way that other visas with a financial requirement are currently enforced.

  2. Thanks for your answer. Currently, I do hold a Thai work permit. However, off late, I do not spend much time in Thailand. This year, till now, I have been in Thailand for 30-40 days max (in the whole of 2015). Currently, I am in China.

For a work permit, I need to pay myself a salary. I have been paying taxes on that. Also, the business/company has to do monthly/annual taxes and so on. Also, one needs to pay taxes on any dividends received from the Co. (if any).

BTW, I am just a co-owner. I am not the MD of the Thai Co. Hence, I do not sign any sign documents on behalf of the Co. The reason why I mentioned that I might wanna go to office once or twice a month (when I am in Bangkok) is that the office is a nice building with a cool view of Bangkok. I do not really work there as such. I could probably not go there at all & it will still be OK.

I could probably switch to Tourist Visas (spending as little time as I do in Thailand). However, I can't be bothered to apply for visas every time (with this massive crack down in place).

I am thinking my situation is more analogous to some one holding shares of any Thai co. I do not think one needs to have a work permit to hold shares in PTT for example.

I will still be paying taxes in Thailand on the dividends received from the Thai Co. (just like I do for holding shares in any other listed Co. on the SET).

That said, I wanna be absolutely sure. Maintaining a Thai work permit costs as much as an Elite visa. I just wanna switch to the Elite visa for the sake of convenience & all the privileges associated with it.

    Thanks.

    Really ?

Where do you obtain such an expensive Work permit ?

by the time you pay for a 3 then 12 month visas then company tax, tax on 4 thai staff (not to mention paying often un necessary thai staff), then salary tax, then accounting i would say this is more than the elite visa but of course it sounds like you still need a non im visa and work permit so what is the point of getting the elite visa in the first place?

Just for your information I require neither a WP nor a "non im"(sic) visa but to suggest a WP costs as much as an Elite Visa is misleading nonsense.

  3. It is not about myself get infected again. It is about I infect my wife accidentially

Your wife is at risk but no more than anyone else. The mosquito that carries the dengue virus is a different variety than normal mosquitoes, a bit smaller and a lot more intelligent. They have a preference for built up areas and human blood.

The virus can be passed on to the eggs which can even survive the dry season,a large percentage of those mosquitoes are born with the virus. The chances of you being bitten by a mosquito of the dengue variety that does not already have the virus is very slim.

One positive is that like myself you now have lifetime immunity to the strain you contracted but I have never been able to find out which strain it was, or which strains are prevalent in Thailand and which areas. I got it from a bite in a hotel in Pattaya.

    WOW!

    "Intelligent" mosquitoes ! cheesy.gif

    That is news !

Dengue in fact is carried by the ‎Aedes aegypti mosquito which has,as yet, not been proven to be "intelligent"........................

You should read some of the reports from the Australian research. They are currently doing field trials to try and breed out the disease.

Produce me one, just one, published, scientific paper which discusses "intelligent" mosquitoes

    Thanks

All strains are present here. And all parts of the country.

Any facts or figures on that. I am only interested in the number of cases of each strain that have been reported in Chonburi.

Not all diagnosed/treated cases of Dengue are serotyped so your question cannot be answered.

  5. This is the test I want with A1c ( other blood work at another time taking one step at a time and focusing now on insulin and insulin resistance ) love that in Thailand I can go À la carte and get most tests and results handed to me and then show my results to the doctor or Dr's of my choice . What a country [emoji106]

An A1c test is not a GTT which you first asked about.

    Best improve your knowledge.

  8. A "O visa" based on marriage is obtained from a Thai Embassy/Consulate no "photos" are required but you will need your marriage cert.+a copy, and signed copies of your wife's ID and housebook.

If you later apply for an "extension of stay based on marriage" (It is not a visa" photographs will be required of you and your wife in an around your accommodation including one picture which clearly shows the house number

  9. I want to do the Poipet option. But I just read "as of Sept 18th, Out/In stamps will not be issued at some checkpoints on the Thai-Cambodian border, even if you are in possession of a valid visa."

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/856633-no-more-outin-stamps-on-thai-cambo-border-for-anyone/

Now I'm getting worried. I'm running out of time, and I have to figure out what to do for a visa run.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

    Old news!

The "issues" have now been resolved.

If you have a valid visa no problems should be experienced.

What a relief. I was totally panicking. I haven't been able to find any updates on the out/in situation at all, except above. Any idea where you read the update?

    Try this

  10. Much better to obtain a multiple-entry "O" visa based on marriage from Savannakhet

No financial proof is currently required.

Penang is another good place to get a one year multiple O and it is (was) easy to do a visa run to Cambodia every 90 days and be in and out the same day.

In some consulates eg Ho Chi Min and I think KL, you need to have your wife with you and ensure that she has her proof of residence, ID card, home book, etc as well as her passport and the original of your marriage certificate or they will only give you a single entry (90 days) visa. Some like Vientiane will only give you a single entry visa no matter what paperwork you have. Its a lottery, I don't know if you actually need your wife with you at Savannakhet but you will certainly need all the paperwork.

I expect that if you were not married in Thailand you would need a certified translation of your marriage certificate.

Does anyone know if the current same day crackdown on tourist visa's has affected multiple O visa holders and if so how long must you be out of the country before returning. One day, One week, what?

There is NO "current crackdown" on those who hold Valid visas and there is no requirement for holders of Valid visas to remain outside the country for longer than it takes to make the turnaround.

Are you really talking about "visa exempt entries " which are not " tourist visas"?

  11. As far as borrowing from a Thai family the law clearly states that the money must come from overseas.

Can you provide a link to the "law" which states money must come from overseas?

I do not believe such a "law" exists .

Not sure about this one. I read somewhere, may be on Thai Visa? That a Thai wife can contribute towards the 400000 baht needed for her foreign husband to get a year visa extension and it`s acceptable that she can support her husband if she is working. But not clear on this?

    http://www.thailandcourt.com/thailand-visas-common-visa-types www.thailandcourt.com/thailand-visas-common-visa-types

Thai Legal System. ... The foreigner-spouse who has a Marriage Visa is allowed to work in Thailand ... letter or pension letter, payslip or bank statements as a proof of your funds. ... We will help you obtain an initial Non-immigrant visa (90 days) before coming to Thailand. ... Your income must come from an overseas source.

That is a link to a Commercial web site that is known to be strewn with errors.

  13. This medication is available in Thailand as "Dexilant"

It is likely only available from hospital pharmacies owing to its Thai classification ie.

    "S = Special Controlled Drug (ยาควบคุมพิเศษ)

A first grade pharmacist shall be on duty at the premises selling modern drugs. Sale to public is on prescription only. Daily purchase and sale record required."
What you are suggesting is technically illegal. However, small quantities of the medication (small = 30 days supply) sent through normal the normal postal system may arrive.

As all overseas mail arrives in Bangkok if any package is detained by Customs it is likely to be kept in Bangkok until cleared.
