Thanks. One more thing, can I extend my visa while there like I did here? I am planning on staying for a few months.
Transit visas are not normally extendable.
There is , as far as I am aware, no legal means for you to stay in Thailand for "a few months"

Double entry tourist visa
You will have to buy a new re entry permit.

Good Morning. It's confirmed. Customers of a Visa-Run who drove Sunday to Vientiane got their METV Yesterday. With that i mean, Foreigners with no permanent resident in Laos.
I'm sure, soon someone will confirm this. I got this information from my Visa agent in Pattaya. Just 2 Minutes ago. I call this Good News.
What about the proof of funds?
Yes, this is important; They ask for 200 000 baht in a Thai Bank Account and Hotel Booking or Condo Rental Contract or something similar. So, take your updated Bankbook with you. That's all. My Visa Agent is quite stressed. Obviously plenty of people call to ask the same questions.
So why would a tourist, assuming they are a tourist since they are getting a ME Tourist Visa, have money in a Thai bank account? Complete nonsense.
METV's are only obtainable in ones own country .
There is no requirement for a Thai bank account and an equivalent amount of cash held in a foreign bank is ALL that is needed.
Maybe your " Complete nonsense" remark is nonsense.

Can u clarify this point? Bring copies of your wife's ID card with her signature on it, her house registration . So does your Wife needs a House registered in her name in Thailand?
All Thai people are registered in a "Tabian Ban" (house book)
Being registered does not imply ownership or a requirement to own property.

Within the last 30 days of your current permission to stay date.
The University should be providing assistance as well as the necessary paperwork.

"Confusing" ?
What is "confusing" ?
elviajero has set the visa and extension options available to foreigners who are married to Thais
I know but it's still confusing. Why would I need something like 'extensions'? Sounds like Thai visa are as temporarily as marriages.
If you do not want an "extension" perhaps you should say exactly what you are seeking.
The options have been explained ..........................

"If I marry my girlfriend here, is this beneficial in anyway in applying for certain visas?"
Non Immigrat 'O' visa.
Single entry valid for 3 months.
Multiple entry valid for 1 year.
Each entry is granted a 90 day stay.
Extension of stay.
Any stay from any visa can be extended by 60 days for 1,900 baht. No financial proof required.
A non 'O' visa 90 day stay can be extended for 1 year for 1,900 baht. You need 400k in the bank for 2 months or an income of 40k pm.
Confusing, what does this have to do with marriage?

No one can bring actual info because consulate web sites are not always reflective of their day to day practice.
I wonder actually why we discuss Thai government websites when it just takes a minute to pick up a phone.
Because it takes about 367 phone calls and 325 emails and you never get a straight answer.
Thats the experience of many with Thai consulates.
"Because it takes about 367 phone calls and 325 emails "
Fact ? or Hyperbole ?

Those affected by these "charges " should forward detail to the Editor of the local press.
Once evidence has been assembled the newspaper will confront the Officer in Charge at Phuket immigration.

Thai Marriage Visamarriage visa half the required income or savings of 800k
There is no such "visa"
This type of visa is issued to a foreign national who is married to a Thai and meets the other requirements of the immigration bureau.Oh yeah silly me gosh it's hard to know it all but know nothing. That is a Commercial site which provides very wrong and distorted information.
Please try to find reference to this "marriage visa " on the THAI MFA site.

Yes !
A return ticket is not a requirement if in possession of a valid visa.

This rule is for new arrivals entering Thailand and report submitted within 24 hours I believe, same as in if you change address report again to the nearest immo office.
Wrong
The report needs to be made when a person takes up residence not only after arrival.
It is the same report hotels make when you check in. That is why they make copy of your passport and departure card.
Can this TM 30 form be sent by e-mail and what is the e-mail adres (for Bangkok) ?
Tks
On line (not email) reporting is only available to registered businesses.

Hi guys. Thanks for all your help so far.
So I opened a new bank account -(very difficult without a work permit I might add).
Yesterday I transferred 400,000 baht over from the UK.
Today I checked with the bank and and I have received a deposit of 399,100 baht. Somewhere along the way 400 became 399!!
Anyway, is it possible that immigration would refuse a visa because of a shortage of 900 baht? (I would think not, but this IS Thailand after all).
I could easily add another 1000 baht to tip it over, but the money would be put in locally.
Thoughts please.
/immigration will refuse an extension if the 400,000 is not in the bank for the required amount of time

Seriously?? A 5 year old child has a passport? They do that in the UK? I'm a little shocked because an American child can't have a passport until they are 16 (?). They usually attach a "rider" onto the parents passport with the child's picture and information.
I wonder where you got that information ?
Instructions for obtaining a child's US passport in the link

This was a subject of debate last year when a charge was made for 90 day reporting etc.
The. Colonel i/c of Phuket immigration made a public statement
"“I can categorically say that there is no fee for this service,” chief of the Phuket Immigration Office Col Sunchai Chokkajaykij told the Gazette.
“Both address verification and 90-day reporting for foreigners are services that we provide free-of-charge. " -

thanks oncearugge. What is the best office to get extensions? The BKK one means dedicating most of a day. I've heard Jomtien is far easier
I have no idea having never used those offices .
However, I do not believe "dedicating most of a day" is needed to obtain a simple 30 day, routine, extension to a tourist visa entry.

You should obtain a tourist visa from the Thai Embassy/Consulate before leaving NZ
The visa will provide an initial 60 day stay which can be extended by 30 days at any immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht

Hi all,
I'm planning to spend three months travelling around Thailand in 2016, and would like to confirm my assumptions are correct.
In the UK I will apply for a SETV. I will be able to stay for 60 days, and I should leave near to the end and visit a neighbouring country. After spending a few days in the neighbouring country, I can then re-enter Thailand and get another 30 day tourist visa. Is this correct? Would I need to provide any additional like proof of funds? Just planning ahead!
Thanks in advance.

There is no need to leave the country.

Listen to the video carefully. They do not say individuals can own land. They say companies can (they call it a "business benefit"). This is already the rule; nothing new. The bit about long-term visas does sound new, and also about freely moving money in & out of country, including profits.
Certainly you need to get beyond the marketing materials, do some hard research into the reality of this. Is it nothing but a pipe dream at the moment, or is thing a reality? You need info from outside sources; not from the developer/marketer.
As always ..........Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) !
There is no substitute or short cuts to conducting adequate "Due Diligence".

Not everyone can attend University, because of age and other factors.
I assume your 'because of age' comment refers to children still in primary or secondary school. Because the last time that I looked, there was no upper age limit for attending university.
I studied for an MA at Chula when I was about 50 years old..
There is no formal age limit but many people would feel uncomfortable anyway. And there can be required pre-qualification, and a substantial tuition fee. I think it is naive to say that University, In Thailand or elsewhere, is for everyone.
Who said "University is for everyone" ?
Retirement visa embassy letter...is english okay or thai translation needed?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
No need for the letter to be translated if it is to be be used in support of an application for an "extension of stay" (which is not a "visa")
