  1. thanks oncearugge. What is the best office to get extensions? The BKK one means dedicating most of a day. I've heard Jomtien is far easier

I have no idea having never used those offices .

However, I do not believe "dedicating most of a day" is needed to obtain a simple 30 day, routine, extension to a tourist visa entry.

  2. Hi all,

I'm planning to spend three months travelling around Thailand in 2016, and would like to confirm my assumptions are correct.

In the UK I will apply for a SETV. I will be able to stay for 60 days, and I should leave near to the end and visit a neighbouring country. After spending a few days in the neighbouring country, I can then re-enter Thailand and get another 30 day tourist visa. Is this correct? Would I need to provide any additional like proof of funds? Just planning ahead!

    Thanks in advance.

You can obtain a SETV which will provide an initial 60 day stay which can be extended for 30 days at any immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht.

There is no need to leave the country.

  3. In previous work with refugees, there are always those who will pose as a refugee when in fact they are fleeing prosecution and not persecution. There are very few countries in the world where a person entering a country illegally, whether they are seeking asylum or not, are allowed freedom of movement and not tracked.

My thoughts to the many killed and injured and to their family, friends and colleagues. My thoughts are with the people of France and all those affected by this tragedy. I suspect there will be a very large number of people and countries that ultimately pay for this massacre.

We just need to ensure that it is the "Right" people and countries that suffer and pay for this outrage !

  4. Listen to the video carefully. They do not say individuals can own land. They say companies can (they call it a "business benefit"). This is already the rule; nothing new. The bit about long-term visas does sound new, and also about freely moving money in & out of country, including profits.

Certainly you need to get beyond the marketing materials, do some hard research into the reality of this. Is it nothing but a pipe dream at the moment, or is thing a reality? You need info from outside sources; not from the developer/marketer.

As always ..........Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) !

There is no substitute or short cuts to conducting adequate "Due Diligence".

  5. Just one question.

Are you a degree qualified Teacher or a "teacher" who would not find employment at home ?

    Just one question.

    Is your name Richard?

Oh.... and another question. Why does someone, who has posted 300 times per month over the past 8 months feel he can be so condescending towards the OP.

This guy is having a crisis and you offer nothing. Lost In Issan may not be a NES teacher but I know he cares about his students.....a lot. He also has a wealth of experience in Thailand schools. Yes, he has a degree and he is a lot more qualified than some 22 year old with a BA in Education.

    You are an arse. bah.gif

Thanks a lot for your nice post, I really appreciate your kind words.

It's really very sad that you can't even ask - a for me very serious question- in the teaching forum without getting some nasty replies?

And for the record. I grew up in a bilingual environment, using American English and German from earliest childhood on, got a BA in social pedagogy plus teaching related experience in Germany.

I also made highly classified translations for the Armed Forces Europe from English into German and vice versa.

Why are foreigners living in Thailand the biggest enemies of other foreigners? There's so much hate on this forum.

If you don't have something to say, then please keep it for you. I was asking an honest question,

I apologize for the long post I thought it's useful to know the whole story.

So to summarize ........... You are not a Qualified Teacher.

    Correct ?

  6. Sheryl,

I understand many including myself respect your advice on this forum but I've been waiting for a medical report from Bumrungrad for 9 weeks.

They are happy to take the money but when one requires something in return they are absolutely incompetent.

I will never go to that hospital again.

I have no fondness for the "hospital" itself either. But there are times when the best specialist for a specific problem is based there, and this is one of them.

BTW it is indeed very difficult to get medical reports sent to you. Go in person and assuming all you want is copies of what is already in your records (as opposed to something that needs to be specially written up for you) and you will get it on the spot.

It's a report involving three Doctors but the hierarchy and "face" thing has delayed this for an extremely unacceptable length of time. I'm aware I can get medical records on the spot.

    Any suggestions?

I'll be going in again next week and taking it to the top.

9 weeks and waiting for a med report and they call themselves an International Hospital. BS; Mae mee kwam samarth=incompetent.

Your medical records, even those involving three doctors are easily obtained.

I wonder if your request for a "special" report was specific, comprehensible and couched in good polite , grammatically correct English ?

  7. Not everyone can attend University, because of age and other factors.

I assume your 'because of age' comment refers to children still in primary or secondary school. Because the last time that I looked, there was no upper age limit for attending university.

I studied for an MA at Chula when I was about 50 years old..

There is no formal age limit but many people would feel uncomfortable anyway. And there can be required pre-qualification, and a substantial tuition fee. I think it is naive to say that University, In Thailand or elsewhere, is for everyone.

Who said "University is for everyone" ?

  8. Just wondering how this would affect somone flying from the UK who has already booked a return ticket for 62 days and was planning to get a triple entry visa.

Will you be able to enter Thailand on a visa on arrival and then just do a couple of border runs or is it possible to get an immigration extension?

Guess one of the problems is 62 days is 2 days over the 30 day VOA and 102 x 15 day border extensions. Sorry to be specific but this is a real situation as my nephew has booked Dec 31 returning March 1st. What are his options? He is planning to travel outside of Thailand but nothing booked as yet before returning to BKK and flying home, His problem around new rules is that he is very recently self employed and dont think he had proof of £5k for 6 months of bank statements. Obviously I could transfer some money into his account but I suspect this wouldnt meet with the approval of the authoritites!

Happy to start a separate thread if this is diverging too much

    Thanks

Those from the UK with British passports are not eligible for a VOA !

    And ! VOA's only provide a 15 day entry .................

There are no 15 day "border extensions" for people from the UK or anywhere else.

If you have a return ticket dated 62 days from the day of arrival then

    1. Buy a single entry tourist visa from the Thai Embassy or one of the consulates which will provide a 60 day entry.

    2. Apply for a 7 day extension at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht

3 . Invest in a good tourist guide book such as the Lonely Planet!

  9. Sorry, you are right! My next report is on November 16th and my extension ends July 2016. My company has stated they cancelled my work permit - does this mean they probably informed immigration as well?

You employer would not of canceled your extension. I am not sure if immigration would even cancel if they did inform them.

Schools. companies and etc are limited on the number of work permit they can support so they are only interested in canceling it not the extension.

I have cancelled my work permit a month ago and fly out December 5 for a long holiday in new zealand. I have to do 90 day reporting December 2. I have a non imm B visa stamped in my passport that is dated to expire in march. my accountant said my non im B visa is not effected by the cancelling of my work permit. she has never been wrong about work permit/visa things before. I guess we will see when I go to do my 90day report early December. I have seem so many conflicting posts and replies to this topic.

If you make 90 day reports to immigration you do not have a valid "B" visa .

Ask your accountant to explain the difference between a valid visa and an "extension of stay".

  10. I look forward to the 1,000's of Muslims that will march openly in protest against this atrocity.

The lunatics who did this have nothing to do with normal muslims, if isis did this. I have my doubts.

A strong majority around the world despises those actions.

Time for people like Le pen and the likes to march.

Heil to xenophobia and closed minds.

And Im not a muslim in the slightest.

Seems that "Muslims" have a record you would do well to acknowledge .......................

The Shoe Bomber was a Muslim
    The Beltway Snipers were Muslims
The Fort Hood Shooter was a Muslim
The underwear Bomber was a Muslim
The U-S.S. Cole Bombers were Muslims
The Madrid Train Bombers were Muslims
The Bali Nightclub Bombers were Muslims
The London Subway Bombers were Muslims
The Moscow Threat Attackers were Muslims
The Boston Marathon Bombers were Muslims
The Pan-Am flight #93 Bombers were Muslims
The Air France Entebbe Hijackers were Muslims
The Iranian Embassy Takeover, was by Muslims
The Beirut U.S. Embassy bombers were Muslims
The Libyan U.S. Embassy Attack was by Muslims
The Buenos Aires Suicide Bombers were Muslims
The Israeli Olympic Team Attackers were Muslims
The Kenyan U.S, Embassy Bombers were Muslims
The Saudi, Khobar Towers Bombers were Muslims
The Beirut Marine Barracks bombers were Muslims
The Besian Russian School Attackers were Muslims
The first World Trade Center Bombers were Muslims
The Bombay & Mumbai India Attackers were Muslims
The Achille Lauro Cruise Ship Hijackers were Muslims
The September 11th 2001 Airline Hijackers were Muslims
That is just the short list compiled by a man who recognises truth !
Perhaps it is time for "normal" Muslims to oppose this Barbarity.
  11. here we have the results of letting in 1000000 so-called refugees into europe.

kick merkel out of office fast....

What nonsense. The refugees are fleeing from the same enemy that committed this atrocity.

The majority of the "refugees" appear to be fit young men who should be defending their country.

Maybe it is a mob of cowardly criminals and not "refugees" which have gained entry to Europe.

Why is Sweden now the "rape capital" of Europe ? Check it out !

  12. Sorry OP but were you not on here at the time of your WP cancelation asking for advice ? Ubonjoe wasn't around and people was giving you the incorrect advice and I told you to pm Joe. Maybe I am confusing you with someone else, in which case sorry.

    What "incorrect" advice was given?

You will have noted UJ has commented within the tread.

I assume your 'because of age' comment refers to children still in primary or secondary school. Because the last time that I looked, there was no upper age limit for attending university.

I studied for an MA at Chula when I was about 50 years old...

As stated age is no barrier to undertaking university studies.

However, a lack of functioning neurons would defiantly be a "factor" associated with non admission.

  14. canthai55

If your arthritic knee was diagnosed as being in need of replacement it is highly unlikely that a "non-traditional healer" will assist other than by evoking a placebo effect and lightening the wallet.

You should have your knee re-evaluated by an Orthopaedic Specialist.

In the mean time if you are overweight losing weight will prove to be beneficial.

  15. I wonder, will this now become a Le Pen forum?

Incompetence of standard political parties, lack of leadership and realistic visions is only helping extremist like Le Pen ...

    That's the real danger ...

The emergence and strengthening support for the extreme right in Europe is a disturbing fact

There was a politician who had foresight and warned of the dangers in 1968. He was vilified by the "hand wringers" and his career destroyed.

The full text of that prophetic speech can be read in the link

  16. I really "love" all you right wing zealots, you war hawks, you haters and Islamophobs!

    Don't you get it?

It is not the people who want to negotiate and who want dialogue, who brought this upon all of us!

It is YOU, with your drone-strikes and mortar- fire, with your endless wars, that killed every Mohammad, Abdulla and Emine in a 3 mile radius, that left whole villages or cities destroyed, men, women and children crippled or dead, who had NOTHING to do with your "problems"!

You sow wind and you reap the storm!

But go on: beat on the "PC", if that makes you feel better!

You are the ones with blood on your hands!

The only mistake made by the "zealots" was in failing to drop *really* big bombs !

Now. Why not trot off and do a bit of "negotiating" with the Barbarians .............?
