Non-O retirement Visa renewal
Jonathan Swift replied to Nowaythatsreal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have never entrusted this to an agent for the reasons you have clearly demonstrated, plus it's an unnecessary cost, it's easy enough to do on your own. Anyone who says you can't do this on your own doesn't know what they're talking about. I've been doing it for eight years. Thousands of people do it on their own. You search out the requirements online, download necessary forms from the immigration website. If there are any errors you can just come back the next day and correct them. You can make an appointment online 3-4 weeks in advance. Rather than keeping a small fortune uselessly parked in a bank just for this purpose, why not use the income method of showing 65,000 baht per month deposited in your bank? Do you not make at least that month? To reiterate what has been said, if you get this in your country it will be the O-A with insurance requirement. If you convert here in Thailand from the tourist visa you get the O. On the other hand, most agents get the job done without any mishaps, and if you're not motivated to do the work there is likely a reliable one somewhere. -
New course for Thai reporters: "How to construct sentences professionally and properly" First lesson. "was attacked from behind while sitting on a sidewalk by a German national " Was he sitting by the German National? . No. Corrected sentence: "was attacked from behind by a German national while sitting on a sidewalk" there ya go, fixed. Now go out and get that new job!

As an alcoholic who used to drink heavily but changed because of the damage I was doing to my own life, now just a few beers once in a while, I look at these things with great sadness. Cultures teach that the drinking "party life" is an admirable one rather than the dangerous one that it is, and these are the casualties of that belief system. I would guess that for every dozen or so people who can drink without overexposing themselves to major risks there is at least one or two who take their lives in their hands every time. Meanwhile ANYONE who becomes visibly drunk has exponentially increased their risk of accidents or being the target of malfeasance. I learned the hard way when both my drinking parents deteriorated severely as they got older and had very compromised health when they died, one of lung cancer; a brother who was a runaway train wreck who died at 42; and another brother who would have died had he not curtailed his drinking before it killed him. I never lecture people about it, I say very little, I can only hope that in the decades that follow the world will evolve to a place where people don't deem it necessary to be drunk in order to have a good time.

Thaksin Shinawatra’s ‘secret’ health scandal
Jonathan Swift replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"According to Tawee, doctors recommended aqua therapy to aid Thaksin’s shoulder muscle recovery." Anyone who knows anything about medicine and physical therapy knows that this is a very common way for older people to regain strength after long illness and lack of physical activity. Water activities are a good low impact non strenuous form of exercise. Those are foam covered aquatic dumbells specifically for this purpose, relatively light in weight. -
Thai doctor offered bribe to drop lawsuit in Swiss scandal

Obviously coached? Your powers of divine intuition are impressive. There's nothing about this case that even remotely suggests that. That statement is ludicrous. You overestimate your grasp of how the world works. You should probably quit watching tiktok. -
Western Engineer Assaults Pattaya Bar Women In Row Over Bill

Do us all a favor and go back where you came from. You're not welcome here. More foreigners need to stand up against people like you. -
You're in the wrong country if you're so impatient and entitled that you can't stand to wait in a 7-11 line for a few extra minutes. I'll bet when someone is waiting for hot food it must drive you batty. I myself have Parkinson's disease and it takes some time for me to fumble with money, so I step away from the register in case anyone else needs the cashier. But not once have I ever gotten a side eye from anyone behind me as I fumbled away. If it had been you behind me you might have accidentally caught my elbow in your solar plexus. What are you in a hurry for? Always got some place important to be? More important than everyone else? If you think your patience is so wrongly being overtaxed imagine the patience the Thai people have to have just to deal with you and your demanding ill temper. How you personally like to live is your business, but you have no right to project your opinions and preferences onto the way Thai people conduct their daily lives. It's their country not yours. And you don't sound like a "real man", your attitude is in fact very childish and petulant. ""real man always carry cash". Never heard anything more ridiculous. Real man means a mature adult man who can move through life unfazed by minor events. How about "real" (mature) men don't bother others over trivial things. "Real" Mature men can tolerate life's inconveniences and keep smiling. Go back where you came from, you give the rest of us happy, patient, respectful foreigners a bad name.

Foreigners and their overseas income: what next?
Jonathan Swift replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
According to what I’ve read thus far, no. But you may have to file a rax return here. But what if you don’t? How would they find out and track you down? That’s what I wonder. Are they motivated to become the FBI/IRS of Thailand? Do they have the resources to wage tax war against non complying low income expats? Or will it be a matter of so long as you don’t attract attention you stay under the radar? -

Best to do letter and bank book same day, they will likely make you show a deposit for the day of your visit. At division 1 they send me downstairs to get it at BKK Bank branch if I didn't get it just before my queue came up. Also, Preferable to get a one year's account statement which you have to order several days in advance. I've had them debate with me about using bank book photocopy pages. If I were you I would accept the likelihood of having to come back the next day. The advantage of division 1 Chaengwatthana is that all bank branches, printers, and photo services are on the first floor and make your time more efficiently spent. What I do is I order my 1 year statement, which they will email to me in 3 days, I highlight all my monthly income transfers in yellow, and I get to immigration at opening time, I get my queue number, then go downstairs to update my passbook and get the account verification letter, then back up to immigration to wait out the queue.

My gosh! Don't tell me you actually support all this "anti farang" persecution and prejudice? The double standard? [sarcasm not directed at you Mr. X] Well, these drugs can't come from inside Thailand can they? So to the Thai police - keep up the good work! -

Tinder ad slammed as an insult to Isaan women and Korat cuisine

Prosecute them for defamation. They don't care about the cultures whose pockets they seek to pick. They don't care about anything but enriching themselves. -
Tinder ad slammed as an insult to Isaan women and Korat cuisine
Jonathan Swift replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Go back to sleep caveman. Woke means evolved. The term was coined out of resentment by the narrow minded of the progress of most of us making in the direction of humanity, which forces the rest to confront their ignorance, and they don't like it. The rest of us are growing with the times and recognize and respect women and their legitimate issues. And respecting Thai culture and their ways has nothing to do with woke. You clearly don't get that. Respect for the country and its people. It's not your country, it's theirs. Tinder is a huge corporation which cares nothing of the people pouring money into their pockets, cares nothing about the cultures to whom they are marketing. Go back to Soi Cowboy where you don't have to strain your limited brain and nobody cares about your woke, and you can be as disrespectful and crude as you like to women as long as you're filling the pockets of the ladyboys and bar girls there. Go where you're on equal terms in the sleaze and streets and where women think no more of you than cattle to be milked dry. Better yet, go back to the US and vote for Trump. If you're not from the US I'm sure they'll make you an honorary citizen, you fit right in. Go to your KKK meetings. Parade around with the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers waving your confederate flag and your assault rifles. Chain your women to the stove, keep them barefoot and pregnant, republicans love that. Hope you're not married or have kids to spread your narrow mindedness to. I came here with respect for the culture and thoroughly understand and support these women and all Thai people. The whole world has moved so far ahead of you that you'll never get it or catch up. Maybe that's why you have so much resentment - nobody likes being left behind in the dust 100 years behind the times.
