  1. OK caveman, the world is not a Popeye cartoon, if he has permanent brain damage or dies of a skull fracture does he "deserve" that? Death penalty just for being an ɑsshoIe? In other countries he would be charged with 2nd degree murder. Bouncers are supposed to be able to handle such things without resorting to extreme violence. That's what tasers and pepper spray are for. That's why you have more than one bouncer. That's what 191 on your phone and the police are for.
  2. batteries go dead, they can be disabled. But as always yes too much missing here.
  3. Do you know what thermite is? It’s not an explosive. A few pounds would do little more than make a hole. It is not used in demolition. Read up: “Thermite reactions have many uses. It is not an explosive; instead, it operates by exposing a very small area to extremely high temperatures. Intense heat focused on a small spot can be used to cut through metal or weld metal components together both by melting metal from the components, and by injecting molten metal from the thermite reaction itself. [citation needed] Thermite may be used for repair by the welding in-place of thick steel sections such as locomotive axle-frames where the repair can take place without removing the part from its installed location. Thermite can be used for quickly cutting or welding steel such as rail tracks, without requiring complex or heavy equipment.”
  4. Funny thing, I’ve traveled all over Thailand the past 11 years, including Pattaya - Walking St, Beach Rd, Soi Buakao - and every other fun, interesting place north to south, and managed to never get robbed, beaten, stabbed, or arrested, It wasn’t hard, and amazingly I still happily enjoy life here without fear. I meet nothing but pleasant happy people and share laughs and stories. But then again, I’m not covered with billboard tattoos and targets on my back that signal “I’m an ldiot and deserve to be smacked around, sliced, and diced” , I don’t go roaming around at 4:AM looking for trouble, and I (**GASP**) don’t get drunk. It would seem either we’re not talking about the same Thailand, or you know nothing about the place beyond your 4 walls, tabloid news stories, and a lurid imagination.
  5. Has stupidity now been declared a mental illness? I suppose it depends on the cause - like being punched in the head to the point of brain damage
  6. Don’t forget that every young underachiever is also an “influencer” and “digital creator”
  7. Choose your rentals carefully. I have been at Ratchaprarop Tower Mansion for 8 years and they get mature well behaved renters and they enforce the rules - pool, gym, etc
  8. “To safeguard Thailand’s reputation as a safe and attractive destination, Mr Boon-anan strongly advocates for stricter tourist evaluations”. Yes, good idea, but can and will it be done, and will it help in any measurable way?
  9. Yes. But maybe this is just a premature press release for public consumption so as to appear like something practical is being done. Maybe they’re working at other measures that MIGHT work. Maybe they just don’t have the problem solving skills. Putting myself in their shoes (yikes!) I would find this task daunting. They may yet come up with something useful, but always at a cost to law abiding folks
  10. He might possibly mean that blasting through the checkpoint contributed to the speed, probably never having seen a checkpoint or understanding what they do. .
  11. Good comprehensive and detailed analysis and summary of the issues, and exactly right. Well done.
  12. The larger long trip buses in Thailand have the 2 drivers in my experience
  13. They have no grounds to complain. It just means tourists and expats will spend more money. It was up to 38 a year and a half ago, and the world didn’t end
  14. I doubt it. In most cases the mule knows. It’s not hard for them to figure out why they get paid so much for carrying baggage that isn’t theirs. But I’m not privy to statistics, so who knows?
  15. You mean the high quality tourists which exist only in their imaginations?
  16. Maybe if they make enough from this they can shut the border to Israeli IDF troublemakers
  17. To be fair, his English probably wasn’t so good either. Anyone with any brains can figure something like this out with e few hand gestures or use a translator
  18. 7-11 would make out pretty well no doubt
  19. That’s how much my apartment rent is. Good thing I’m not a boozer
  20. It has happened in the US, some of these people had to have full lung transplants
  21. Correct. If you bring in more people there will be proportionately more ɑsshoIes. It's built into the math. Hopefully they will move the midpoint needle and tip the scales enough to serve both sides of the issue. The locals are not making good money off the Israelis because Israelis are not the big tourist spenders that Thailand wants or needs. I think it's clear to everyone including the police and immigration that they are not worth the trouble. It sounds like certain groups may end up with a target on their backs the moment they arrive, which I'm fine with, no doubt others would be fine with it. This is total speculation on my part, I don't in any way actually claim to know what I'm talking about. Basically, it sounds like the Israelis may be specifically targeted for "enhanced surveillance". Then immigration may be pre-primed to expedite deportation if necessary. That's the way I would do it. Memos to all immigration checkpoints: flag all Israeli passports the moment they set foot here. Enhanced security, enhanced surveillance from entry to departure. It could be done entirely within the database and system with minimal extra cost or effort. It would be sad if hotels and hostels started to refuse Israelis accommodation when their passports were presented because they were flagged. If motorbikes were not rented without valid drivers licenses. If police memos were sent to motorbike rentals telling them that valid motorbike licenses must be produced. Real sad.
  22. We all know and agree on that, I believe that token attempts have been made, but such a change is immensely difficult and would likely take decades. As it stands, Thailand just doesn't have a lot of economic resources to offer the world, and Thai workers themselves are deeply dependent on tourist dollars.
  23. I have a name for it. "Israeli Tourist Terrorists" . Perfect.
