  1. Nobody I've met in Thailand can guess my ethnicity by my appearance. And, 90% don't know what a Jew is. They know King Kong though. I have seen N*zi symbols (not Buddhist symbols) worn with ignorance. I ask if they know what it means. The answer is no. I believe them. It's close to the counter-clockwise symbols they've seen. I give them the benefit of the doubt.

No, has never remotely been an issue. On the other hand, I have no hook nose, nor do I have horns, nor do I have a hunchback. Maybe that helps. Many Americans males get chopped, or they did in my era, so that also doesn't give me away. And, the massage workers really don't care.

Absolutely no one guesses America when they look at me. I hear Switzerland and Australia.

  2. I'm currently planning to send her to Chula on an emergency basis in an ambulance. Her local hospital sent her home with some antibiotics, an inhaler, and metformin. That's it. She can't breathe, is bleeding uncontrollably, and her diabetes is severe and uncontrolled. Her local gov hospital failed her. So, I'm going to send her to Chula in an ambulance so they take it seriously. She's coughing up green and the cough sounds terrible and is frequent. So, the situation has declined and I'm waiting for her to wake up. Thanks for everyone's guidance.

Government hospitsls are well able to manage diabetes. Many have dedicated  diabetic clinics.

They are also  usually able to manage asthma, though in the case of community or general  hospital might need to refer if the  patient has  severe respiratory distress.

Which is her registered government hospital?

Her diabetes would not  explain the heavy menstruation. She has a separate GYN  condition.

Hi. I don't know the name of her local hospital. I'll ask.

There is also obesity as part of the picture. I know that fat can disrupt hormones. I'm learning as much as I can as quickly as I can to help here. Here's what Chat GPT had to say. I'm not questioning you and thanks for weighing in. All issues must be checked thoroughly by endocrinologist.

Yes, diabetes can contribute to uncontrolled, non-stop menstrual bleeding, though it’s usually an indirect effectrather than a direct cause. The main reasons diabetes can lead to excessive or irregular menstrual bleeding include:

    1. Insulin Resistance & Hormonal Imbalance

    • Diabetes (especially Type 2) is linked to insulin resistance, which disrupts normal hormone levels.
    • Excess insulin can lead to high estrogen levels, which thickens the uterine lining (endometrial hyperplasia)and increases the risk of heavy or prolonged bleeding.

    2. PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)

    • Many people with diabetes also have PCOS, a condition where irregular ovulation and high androgens can cause prolonged or heavy periods.
    • PCOS is strongly linked to insulin resistance and unpredictable menstrual cycles.

    3. Poor Blood Sugar Control & Blood Vessel Fragility

    • High blood sugar damages blood vessels and can make the uterine lining more prone to prolonged bleeding.
    • Diabetes can impair platelet function, reducing the body’s ability to stop bleeding.

    4. Increased Risk of Endometrial Hyperplasia & Cancer

    • Unopposed estrogen (not balanced by progesterone) causes excessive uterine lining growth.
    • Over time, this can lead to persistent heavy periods and an increased risk of endometrial cancer, which can present as prolonged or irregular bleeding.

    5. Other Factors (Obesity, Medications, Stress)

    • Obesity, common in Type 2 diabetes, increases estrogen production from fat tissue, worsening bleeding issues.
    • Metformin & other diabetes meds can sometimes affect cycles, though they usually help regulate them.
    • Chronic stress and inflammation from diabetes may also disrupt hormone balance.

I see this lady https://www.bangkokhospital.com/en/doctor/prof-dr-somlak-chuengsamarn   my Diabetes was severe 3 years ago, i am no longer on medication, i just have 6 monthly check ups, she now teaches/practices in the public health system but does a day or so private work, i see her at Bumrungrad she does a morning shift there once a week.  as far as diet/exercise goes, there was little on that aspect from any of the doctors i saw. it seems here it is down to the patient  do the research, as there a number of medications available. you will have options by going private as opposed to the public health system

A pity they don't talk about exercise and diet. However, great referral. Harvard Medical School stands out in her CV.

She can reverse type 2, she may not be aware

I know. But it will need meds (not the regimen from 30 years ago), right diet, and right exercise regimen. Need all of that when referring her to hospital and specialists. I'm skeptical that all this will happen at a free public hospital.

    Thanks.

  6. Hello everyone. My friend was diagnosed with severe, uncontrolled diabetes 3 days ago (10.3). It's causing havoc with asthma, uncontrolled menstrual bleeding, and anemia. I'd be grateful for refferrals for some top endocrinologists in the Bangkok area. Thank you very much!

I agree ....  I associate a Brit as white, fair skin and who was born in Britain originally ... same with American,  Aussie's,  and anywhere else.

When I see a Mohammed or Abdul .... I immediately say they are from Saudi or Africa or Middle east ...

I don't care what passport they own.

By this reasoning, African Americans are not Americans. Nor can any Asian be a Brit. To summarize: Only Anglo-Whites can be British, American, or Australian. The 19th century wants it's memes back.

Hopefully this warped and dangerous trans ideology will fade away, now that a backlash is taking place in the US and elsewhere.

    It's been around for millenia:

Central to ancient Lakota Sioux traditions, the legend of Mato, the Two-Spirit bear-guardian, embodies the essence of spiritual harmony and wisdom.

In the lush islands of ancient Hawaii, the mahu played a similar role. These people embodied both masculine and feminine qualities, which connected them to the divine forces of the natural world.

In ancient Rome, the Galli served the goddess Cybele. These priests, who often renounced traditional male roles and embraced feminine attire, were believed to channel the goddess’s energy through their androgynous identity.

The Hijra of ancient India have long held sacred roles, often connected to the goddess Bahuchara Mata. The Hijra’s ability to embody both masculine and feminine traits was seen as a reflection of the goddess’s transformative powers.

"Gender roles were fluid in pre-colonial societies. Words to describe up to six different gender variants, beyond the binary of male and female, have been found in 155 Indigenous nations of North America."— Kelsey Klassen, “Two spirits, one struggle: The front lines of being First Nations and gay,” Vancouver Courier

Maybe it will fade away soon.

I wish people.would stop calling africans and middle eastern people British. They are not, never will be and never have been. There is more to being British than having a plastic passport that can be taken away at anytime

You're gonna lose that battle, buddy! Deal with it!

Recent projections suggest that white people may become a minority in England by the 2060s. A study from the London School of Economics in 2019 indicated that under a 'no Brexit' scenario, the proportion of the population identifying as non-White British or Irish could rise to 41.9% by 2061. Similarly, demographer David Coleman has projected that the White British population might become a minority in the UK between 2056 and 2066.

Another option is a ToyotaSure used car dealership. They may haggle, depending on how much unsold inventory they have.

Most auto mechanics in Thailand know how to work on Toyotas, and their reputation for reliability is well-earned.

I am very satisfied with a late model Mazda 2 I bought from ExpatAuto.

Does it work to go the last few days of the month to get better pricing because they must meet quotas?

Interesting. Finding the Thai expert would be hard. I'm sure there are but finding one you can trust?

Do you live in Bangkok?  What model and type of car?  To answer your question about One2Car - they are fine but you can get a better understanding of price using FB market place as well.  Many to most cars listed on FB are posted by dealerships.  I bet you could find a solid 2022 Toyota Yaris for example that would fit your budget.  https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/112843885396090/search?minPrice=300000&maxPrice=350000&query=toyota yaris&exact=false

If I were you, I would look online for a week and talk to dealerships only.  I bet a viable option considering your lack of mobility will avail itself.  I would help out if you lived near me but the odds of you living where I am are very slim.

You are very kind. I'm in Phuket. I'm getting a lot of excellent leads here!

Get out there, have a look around, narrow down your options to the car you want. look at more of them, test drive, get a feel for the seller...   If its a 'tent' (second hand forecourt) they are lying to to you... If its a direct seller (i.e. a family) they are more likely to be selling the 'regular car' and moving on to a newer car - there is less likely to be an issue with it - look for full service history from a main dealer.

I have very limited mobility. I can raise the budget if needed. I just started researching. My intention is to buy a certified car from One2Car, have it delivered. End of story. If it works, I'm good. I can walk limited distances.

  13. Hello friends. So, I want to buy a decent used car and my tentative budget is about 340,000 baht (flexible). I want to buy from a well-known website that offers certification of their used vehicles and a 1-year warrantee. I think that I'd benefit from having a Thai car expert negotiate on my behalf. I think that the dealer shouldn't know a farang is involved at all. A Thai will get a much better deal. So then ...

    1) Where can I find such a Thai person to negotiate for me?

    2) Is One2Car a reliable site? Is their certified used car program legit, or is it a marketing gimmick? Looks good to me.

My idea is to complete this all online. Thanks for your thoughts!
