TM30 and 90 day reporting on a PE Visa
Presnock replied to esclub's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For what one has to pay for an elite visa, it is strange that they don't provide any assistance in advising holders what are the benefits and responsibilities. LTR is much cheaper and we know where we stand on all the issues. I think so anyway. -
I spent 10 years of my life as a Vietnamese linguist, 2 years in VN, been in Laos during that war, lived in Rocket City (named for incoming rockets) for 18 months and enlisted right out of HS in 1964. I have lived and worked around the world for another 36 years and have seen the changes in the US culture/society created by some of my generation but mostly those younger generations who don't seem to want to volunteer for anything especially the US military. Yeah I hear all of you talking the US involvement in so many different locations - in most, the US was not alone but it was a conflict brought about by the UN and many of your countries also sent your military to those foreign lands. Many conflicts exist due to the borders drawn up by other westerrn countries that do not fit in with the locals so much so. A perfect example is Afghanistan - ruled by terrorist and used as a training ground for other terrorists. English couldn't fix them, Russians got their butts kicked, US went in with other nations. Women for 20 years were treated as humans, allowed to go to schools and fill in any jobs, then the great negotiator - Trump negotiated with the Taliban to leave. He gave Biden a short leash to do that and the military heads did little planning except for fleeing the country and leaving it up to the Taliban - immediately all women were kicked out of any jobs they held, no schools for females, women could only be examined by a female doctor etc. and back to the stone age. The US found out that you can't win the hearts and minds of certain religious peoples if your are western and believe in equality of the sexes. Now, the Afghanis continue to suffer and wonder what they did wrong to deserve the Taliban I guess. While living around the world, I kept notes on livability after retiring. Thailand came out number 1 with the PI as number 2...I don't like cold weather, and still think that Thailand still suits me better than anywhere else, but if push came to shove guess I could go to the PI or GOD forbid the US. Good luck to us all.

Thought I saw something on this previously. The ad showed a BB gun of some type, and when folks sent their money for it, they got a copy of that photo for their money, not the real gun as the ad never said one would get the actual gun, only what was "pictured". Hang him high and make him provide names of the the deliverer too!

I agree wholeheartedly - Biden too a dodger. I am a VN vet and have noticed a change in the US society even from maybe half my generation. Those replacements in VN were many from my generation but they differet totally in political persuasion. I could never be a Democrat, and as I aged slowly at first, I lost interest in many of the Republicans running for office too. I worked overseas for he government and we used to laugh about local politicians and corruption, thinking that the US was better than that. Were we ever wrong! Then if one still is not convinced about politicians look at recently, the US Congress had a bill outlawing insider trading by congress folks and they couldn't even get enough votes to floor the bill for consideration. They have all learned how easy it is to get rich as a politician. Originally their jobs were only part time but once they learned that they could all become rich it became a career. Now once elected, their only concern is to fill the campaign coffers for the next election, hell, shut down the government so we can show folks who is in charge here! Look at every bill passed and check out the pork barrel additions whether or not it really has anything to do with that particular bill. This has been going on forever I guess and I along with my fellow citizens continued to consider candidates offered by the big pharmas and international businesses because they learned that by putting their people into the seats of government, their wallets were protected and fattened regularly. Oh well I learned many years ago that I had no power to change any of this. I could financially live in the US but couldn't put up with most of the neighbors. But, it definitely is not even close to being the best but is far from being the worst country for people. Right now, just as the EU countries are being swamped by illegal immigrants that not only want freebies they want to change the western countries to better fit their old countries - not sure I understand this but the US is being invaded from the southern border and too many of those do not like the US as a nation, but they do like the freedom and freebies being provided by the Democrats. A very scary situation for sure. I feel sorry for my kids and relatives as most of them feel exactly what I have expressed here.

Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Presnock replied to wmlc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
well until the govt cancels the royal decree of the LTR, that tax on remittances is a moot point, And as I mentioned previously my earnings are solely a US govt pension so unless they also terminate the treaty with the US in the DTA, I won't have any assessable income even if a tax-resident. NOW, if they plan on doing away with those then I would ask nicely for my cost be refunded...then I would reconsider based on how much it might cost me to remain or leave this country that I still love living in. But until the day comes that they decide to take such drastic action that will in the short run as well as the long run will decrease funds generated by the revenue department instead of increasing them. Just for this year, when we are shown the tally next year, and they break it down by groups that pay it will be interesting to see what part expats show. I think a drastic drop but...who knows. -
Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Presnock replied to wmlc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
exactly! that is what it is best if one educates oneself on the current laws. IF one is paying taxes every year anyway then there should be little change. A difference could occur if one's income is below the lowest level or if one has income that is counted different in one's resident country as opposed to the that persons tax residency. Fortuanately several generous individuals have taken their free time to try to educate as many on this forum as they can. At the same time, "agents" seem to be chomping at the bit so to speak in hopes of being needed when that tax collectors come around. Good luck to all! -
Yeah Donald also went a couple of years without paying any taxes - claiming losses while being the self proclaimed best businessman and negotiator in the world. The richer the slimier in my opinion...they mile the system and pay lawyers and agents to scam every possible loophole to avoid paying any taxes or very little compared to the average JOE. Even Warren Buffet every year at tax time talks about how screwed up the tax system is when he pays less taxes than his secretary has to pay each year. I personally have heard him claim this many times in interviews.

Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Presnock replied to wmlc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Well I for one would not be intimidated by not knowing my financial situation in relations to this or any other new tax laws. They can claim all they want but I am well aware of the laws concerning my finances so all they have to do is change the laws and THEN let us know. Until then I am relaxing and enjoying life here without worrying about something that may or may now ever happen here. Good luck to all. -
Totally unacceptable. I would write to you VA office HQ and ask if there a particular problem with late reimbursements. I am not familiar with your program but I am a retired US govt employee who has medical insurance through the US govt and at the new year, they changed the overseas agent and since then I have heard similar stories to their reimbursement. I hope mine is due to new on the block so to speak. good luck on getting any satisfaction.

Suzuki to Halt Car Production in Thailand by End of Next Year
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
same thing in the US - that is why the govt is taxing Chinese-made EV 100% which of course the Chinese are complaining loundly! They think they can get around it by producing EV's in Mexico or Canada, and then selling them in the US. -
Land Dept Revises Guidelines for Foreign Ownership of Land

I have always been an advocate for reciprocal laws between the US and foreign countries especially for land/house ownership, businesses, taxes on non-citizen tax residents, etc. -
Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Presnock replied to wmlc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Well I think the US CRS and OECD decisions were also to catch tax residents who were not paying any taxes on their income as well as the money launderers too. I sympathize with those low-pensioners that were below their home country tax table and who will be caught by this latest scheme if it comes to fruition. Good luck -
Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Presnock replied to wmlc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Until we see if this will come to be in the foreseeable future, we just wait...right now my LTR does in fact stop any tax if the DTA was not there next year on remitted pension funds into Thailand. Good luck to all..., who knows what government will even be in place next year? -
TRUMP as the Greatest Negotiator every (just ask him) did all the negotiations with the Taliban and set the stage for the earlier withdrawl that Biden the braindead couldn't figure it all out plus poor senior military caught in between the two. Never forget, those 20 years of US troop presence meant that females of all ages were able to go to school and escape the evil replacements. As for the Chinese, I just recently read that a Chinese student was caught using a drone to photograph a naval shipyard in the US. According to reports from immigration, the abundance of Chinese males of military age are pouring into the southern border in record numbers. Biden and co. useless anyway, can't get the republicans to work out a deal on the immigration. Our congress is just about useless except for comedy skits. All they seem to care about is getting re-elected and not on attempting to fix all the problems the country now faces. My opinion anyway as I do not like Trump nor Biden - both useless except causing big problems.

LTR also has no 90-day reporting to immigration so that procedure is out as well as current Tax ID law. -
Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Presnock replied to wmlc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
well, they would have to change the current tax ID law as it says one needs to get a Thai Tax ID within 60 days of remitting ASSESSABLE funds into the country. Since some of us IAW DTA's and current visa, like me, they won't have any assessable remittances so no need to file an income tax form nor get a tax ID. Now, yes they could change the current tax law on ID's and yes they COULD go to world income taxes here in Thailand but....TIT and who knows what will be the next scheme or the dropping of this scheme. Best of luck to all!
