  1. Earned income although taxed in one's home country even if that country has a DTA with Thailand, may still be taxed by Thailand if that person is also a tax-resident in Thailand and tax credits can be given for those taxes paid in one's own country but if the Thai tax is higher than that paid to one's own country, the higher amount could also be paid to Thailand i.e. if your country tax on your earned income is 20% but that income is higher in Thailand and the % is 10% higher, then you might have to fork over an additional 10% to Thailand. That is why one must read their country's DTA to see which country exempts any income from foreign taxes or if the tax-resident in a foreign country must pay secondary tax too. Best to read all the documentation from the revenue department of Thailand, where one can also find all the DTA's and read that for your country to get a better understanding. If still not fairly sure, check with some of the tax agencies as they might give a shore (15 minute) free consultation and some advertize tha they will figure your tax situation free but when doing the tax forms, will then charge you. Good luck.
  2. And what about all the other time the the PAC's gave her big bucks too and just recently admitted it so that it wouldn't be an issue for the finance folks that hadn't reported it.
  3. the operative word here is hypochondria.
  4. Long after her husband was out of office and not campaigning.
  5. Michelle's payment was not when she was a presidential CANDIDATE and not for campaign funds supposedly as Melania...and with Melania even after Trump lost in 2020 she continued to receive money from the superpacs....BTW wasn't originally reported as required but just recently...
  6. As others have written in the news, very rare that anyone of a presidential candidates family receive campaign contributions from a superpac...she has done so many times.
  7. But she is now very rich and upon divorce will find a younger more virile hubby or companion.
  8. Well, googling that, the only thing I can find is that Melania has reaped quite a bit of money from the superpacs. Can you cite one article of proof for the other wives' receipt of campaign funds for rallies?
  9. Well, based on what I read in the article, the local officials should be able to identify this animal easily since he has been partying with the auntie and others for some time apparently. Need to string this guy up for a while. A 3-year old....bad enough if adult is raped but for such a youngster to have her life probably destroyed mentally. But too many Asian countries and others don't seem to be bothered a whole lot about RAPE. Maybe because I have 2 daughters I am extremely unforgiving for such a SIN. But I do believe that everyone should be against this animal trait in any person.
  10. I checked the Revenue Dept webbsite, google RD tax alerts etc, regarding this issue.,...as for same year earned (post 2023) the RD linterpretation of the tax law only says that even if an elite's income has been taxed already, when remitted into Thailand that person is required to file for taxes too in Thailand and can be offered tax credits for taxes paid in one's home country. So, seems to me that thre is no special exemption for the elite visa holder when it comes to taxation on income. Since the elite holder also more likely has a higher income, the taxing percentage could be lower in another country as oppo Thailand so the holder might have a Thai obligation too.
  11. If you truely believe that, find any story about any previously wife of a presidential candidate being paid to attend a rally. She is just a gold digger from the gitgo, a paid "escort" for the rich brought into the US and grabbed a real idiot. I would definitely like to see how much she is being paid just to stay with him now. She is no better than KH, a toy for the rich politicians.
  12. especially since he claims to be so anti-immigrants...also he claimed that he was outlawing "chained migration" where the family of a sponsored person also can immigrate legally - (except for convicted felons) at the same time he allowed Melania's parents to immigrate too (father was a convict). But Trump feels he is above all laws anyway so in his ind he can do no wrong - try to find sometime when he admits to any wrongdoing.
  13. In addition as noted, it states that if your country has a DTA with Thailand even that earned in this the same calendar year is exempt - I think that they believe that the individual paid taxes on that income in the country that has a DTA with Thailand. I could be wrong but it sure seems strange that they even brought up the taxation bit. ANsd, we must recall TIT and next year might be worldwide income taxation and it will be interesting to see how they handle all the exemptions if they are still valid. Best of luck to all.
  14. Because less than qualified (lots of reasons, laziness #1)people fail to do their jobs in a professional manner. This attitude and perfoirmance is the main reason so many citizens do not appreciate govt (all levels) employees! That is my opinion anyway. On top of that, whenever someone writes an online registration of any type, it should be all inclusive of necessary details. If a driver's license is used for voter registration, then a citizenship question should be part of the online registration - 98K for sure in fault! What a stupid error for no reason. No wonder so many MAGAites believe all that Trump says be it true or false. And yes I am well aware, she is no better than him. We the citizens will be the losers again! That is my opinion too.
  15. The DirGen can determine if an LTR holder does not meet the qualifications for holding such visa, then for that year the remittance is not exemted from taxes. This is a correction
  16. KHUNJEFF - I just reread the royal decree and I was mistaken in my original comment about the DIR GEN could drop it...but only if any of the qualifications were not met then for that year the remitted funds would not be tax free. MY mistake maybe due to old age and a rough day. Sorry.
  17. I think that when I was reading in the revenue department (English) and read the royal decree about the exemption and it mentioned something about the DIRGEN could stop the exemption. I will check again and advise if I was incorrect.
  18. Actually, they cut the LTR visa cost in half as they couldn't get the numbers of buyers that they wanted. They don't lose face as long as they are getting money,.
  19. Yessir, I agree somewhat, in that they willl have to rely on self assessed incomes and while they won't have complete data on all people, will only go after for possible audit or quick check for documentation proving non-assessable income and they will probably determine this by a certain amount of income as they just won't have the manpower to do every expat as well as every new Thai that gets added to the tax rolls. MY opinion anyway but sure hope it doesn't come to more paperwork - that is one of the reasons I got the LTR was to lessen having to do the paperwork which just seems to increase more than decreases. Good luck to all.
  20. Totally agre with you on this. I think that the DIR GEN according to the royal decree exemption for the LTR could drop that exemption but that she really doesn't have that power as it rests with the senior folks of the govt due to the ramifications. As such, and based on how they seem to be really trying to get more people to come here and SPEND money, the govt may decide to let that exemption remain for now. In addition, since the elite visa is now overpriced based on benefits, the govt may also drop the price back to what it was previously. My opinions only of course but sure hope they decide to provide something for the expats who have been spending lots of money for them and their families here and many of those for quite some time...like me 20+ years, house, cars, schools - daughter still in local college. But bottom line is TIT so who knows what will happen. Best of luck to all.
  21. That is because DTA are treaties between two countries and if one country decides they don't like it, they have need to advise 6 months in advance that they are cancelling it. But i think that the DTA with Thailand and the 61 countries will remain in effect and from all that I have heard the DTA will override any local tax law. AS for the exemption by royal decree, it states that the DIRGEN of the revenue department could wipe that out too but I also don't think that will happen unless they grandfather all those already with an LTR. Hopefully, the Revenue Dept might make a clarifying statement on the worldwide income taxation plans but...who knows, daily it seems more and more complaints about the current government from other branches of the government so who knows if they will no fade away and a new govt might come to power with really different ideas. Best of luck to all.
  22. expattaxthailand.com advertises a DTA - UK/Thailand webinar in the near future., It is free, just register with them and they will give you a date/time. I did the US pension remittance webinar today and it confirmed all that I have learned to date about my finances/taxes. Plus they give a 15 minute free consultation on one's taxes too.
  23. To expats re some agent info: expattaxthailand.com - provided a webinar today on pensions of different countries - some exempt due to DTA's others not which by now most of us already know. They mentioned that if one has no assessable income (i.e. only have exempted govt pension or social security) then one does not need to get a Thai tax number nor file any tax form. In addition he said that they will give one a 15 minute FREE consultation on one's taxes so if not too convoluted then should be able to help folks. They also have tax prep help, 75K, 12K and 24K depending on how much help is needed. They also have webinars set for DTA's and other tax filing issues in the future. One can contact them and register for the webinars (FREE) via computer (ZOOM). I notice someone has asked about the 800K for visa if it is taxable. Normally, if it is in the first half of the year, and then the person remitted it into a Thai bank, unless the person stayed 180 or more days that calendar year, it wouldn't be taxed but if one did remit the 800K early in the year and stayed the 180+ days, then it would be taxable. Some bit about the source of the 800K pre 2024 savings or whatever - a good question for one considering depositing the money to check with someone who might know for sure. He also said that his office has all the DTA's with Thailand if folks wanted to check on their particular country. Goodluck to all!
