  1. If only he had listened to King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud. https://jinsa.org/ibn-saud-fdr-future-of-jewish-state/
  2. It wasn't negotiated between the Palestinians who occupied the territory, they were sold down the river. https://www.un.org/unispal/history2/origins-and-evolution-of-the-palestine-problem/part-i-1917-1947/
  3. There's the No.11 blue bus that departs from the Southern side of the moat near the Chiang Mai Gate. Chiang Mai to Doi Tao using Highway 108 passing through Hang Dong, San Patong, Chomtong and Hot. No luxuries but extremely safe. Top speed is about 30kmh as they have limiters installed, so you get to see all around you rather than a blur whizzing by. Around 4hr to Hot, 5hr to Doi Tao. There'll be lots of friendly locals who flag the bus down and hop on and off going between the small markets along the way. Expect an occasional bemused look, as not may foreigners use or know about this route. The fare to Chomtong is about 40THB.
  4. Throughout the decades (late 1970's to 2010), Enjoying the delights of Thailand as a teenager through to progeny, was never a problem for a genuine "Western Tourist" who had Baht in either wallet/purse. Times seem to have changed though, and the attraction to Thailand has produced mass tourism. Now with an avenue to enforce laws for "Supplementary Income" to offset their required "Monetary Subscription Repayment" to be a "Policeman" seems to be more than evident.
  5. Had a small tear on Page 18 of my Passport caused by a hole from a previous staple. January 2023, Thai Vietjet wouldn't allow me to board my flight from Da Nang to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. Had to buy a new ticket and depart a few hours later on an Air Asia flight to Don Mueang. Travel insurance wouldn't cover this cost (Policy - Loss or Damage requiring replacement and associated costs).
  6. Humpty Dumpty. The Grand Old Duke of York. Sing a song of sixpence. And even Mary, Mary Quite contrary seems to have a dark past. They were satirical, subversive folk songs about historical events or the despised conduct of leaders. Behind these, lie darker tales of cowardice, greed, immorality, cruelty, religious persecution, execution, sickness, and death.
  7. Days are counted in a Calendar Date Form - from 00.00.00 until 23.59.59 for any particular day. not "24 hour periods". Day of arrival until day of Departure, Example, would be arriving on the 1st September with departure required by 30th September. To my thought pattern that is 30 days.
  8. Exactly. Final response upon this thread, Ducks in a row, take that shot while standing on firm ground. Fortunately, my ducks are sorted, Opal has no immediate desire to return to a notable family from the Chiang Mai Province and my debate was between BritTim and I regarding legalities under Section 12. I brought in Section 12 (appendix 10), However Section 12 (appendix 2) raises grounds for rejection to any who try to garner the System. Having 20,000 Baht on your person under Section 12 (appendix 9) does not override appendix 2. The days of having an old Cavalier attitude have well since passed. Trying to live long-term in Thailand is not really functional unless you meet the ever escalating stringent criteria. At the end of the day, any person using a "temporary pass" to Thailand, being an SETV, Single Entry Tourist Visa, or any other entry such as Visa Exempt, Visa on arrival etc, persons should determine for themselves are they a tourist, are they looking to be resident, or being nomadic, trying to get their long term stay sanctioned
  9. Please provide details of the "Internal Announcement" and all relevance "Ministerial Regulation" that you are aware of. It will then provide adequate database inclusion for "Asean Now" Most foreigners in legal hot water are normally on overstay, have an improper visa in relation to their true intention, or a dodgy ED or volunteer visa. These are multiple issues to this discussion regarding any semantics of "Denied Entry" I stand aside.
  10. I cannot comment upon this inclusion upon the "Legislation" being introduced except being a firewall beyond imminent focus.
  11. It is an interesting point due to its inclusion within Legislation. With enforcement under Section 16, Does any person know if there is a current "Edict" with listing of published individuals and/or groups by the Minister, or is this an authority transferred unilaterally to the "Competent Officer" screening entry.
  12. Denial under Section 12 article(10) Which then incorporates the embodiment of Section 16, providing ample grounds of discretion. The House always wins.
  13. Looks quite easy to make if unable to source locally. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/user/380526/recipe/chermoula-paste https://www.nzherald.co.nz/eatwell/recipes/chermoula-paste/7QIMXQHVFGTS5FV6VKF5VK3C7Y/
  14. When I was 17, I went to Pattaya back in the late 1970's with my eldest brother being 21 and a friend of age in between. R&R from work in Saudi Arabia. Had a ball, but got the clap, penicillin shots back at the base in Riyadh. The previous year, was introduced to Thailand along with Dad and Mum, my two elder brothers and younger sister. Dynamics were three rooms at the Montien Hotel. Room 1: Dad and Mum, Room 2: Mike & Dave (Elder brothers), Room 3: Me and my younger sister Sandra. Short term room rental when needed at aged 16 was possible. My elder brothers were left to fend for themselves in Bangkok "as planned per the itinerary", because after 3 days in Bangkok, Dad, Mum, myself and Sandra carried on the tour to: Hong Kong, Seoul & Tokyo. The rest of this bi-annual escape for me was then an introduction to Culture, Temples, Cuisines, Don't sweat the boy will be fine, expect a go-fund me page if he hasn't got funds.
  15. Introduction of funds from overseas that have been remitted to Thailand within your union would be subject to a 50% split unless expressly deposited into your sole account as required by Thai Immigration. Albeit, "Monies Earned in Thailand" as opposed to "Introduced Funds from Overseas" placed into the relationship dynamic would be classed similarly. I would try to remove Lawyers out the equation (both hers and yours if able) and negotiate directly
  16. Updating the thread regarding our tracked valuation median. Opal and I are currently at NZ$595,000 which is down from previously the previous posted figure of $630,000. This now represents, from our peak at NZ$840,000 as historically posted, equates to an overall 41% shaving within two years.
  17. Facing oncoming traffic in the absence of a footpath is mandated by many countries under law / rules or recommendation. NZ: If there’s no footpath, walk on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic. If possible, keep off the road, or as close as possible to the edge of the road. UK: If there is no pavement, keep to the right-hand side of the road so that you can see oncoming traffic. USA: If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible. Thai: PEDESTRIAN shall walk on the footpath or road shoulder. If there is neither footpath nor road shoulder, he shall walk along the edge of the way on his right. (Fine not exceeding 200 baht). In the case of Thailand though, chances are even, you'll get bowled over by a motorbike going in the wrong direction ????
  18. 25/2010 Charoen Krung Rd, Wat Phraya Krai, Bang Kho Laem, Bangkok 10120, Thailand AKA, Thai Massage Alley. Personal favorite, Massage Thai Authentique, right on the river bank.
  19. Nothing works the same way for holders of passports issued from various countries. Your example of Vietnam, I traveled under a UK passport, walk through, visa exempt. Opal was adamant she would be travelling under her New Zealand passport which incurred three attempts via digital format to finally get the Visa at a cost of 45US$. I had told her she could be Visa exempt using her Thai passport, (selective deafness). Any impediment that extends time clearing your point of entry is detrimental from a tourist point of view. The math says at Suvarnabhumi, processing would need to be 2 seconds per passenger to keep the flow (reduced pro rata by the amount of kiosks open for this "arrival levy collection"). 10 kiosks gives 20 second process.window 20 kiosks would give a 40 second process window etc... I envision longer queues than experienced by persons paying respect to passing of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey. Alternatives. Pay in advance when purchasing ticket selectively. Would be nigh on impossible by most overseas airlines as they have to abide by their National Laws & Consumer Laws which would be applicable covering discrimination etc... I reiterate this appears to be a knee jerk reaction without any critical thought regarding consequence. My 2 cents worth, (and I can say that as I am a slave to NZ$ economy).
  20. Stop looking at projected revenue grab. Devil is in the detail. It is not an extra NZ$14 per passenger from a tourist. After a long haul flight queuing up for a an extended time to pass through Immigration then queuing up for another extended time to pay this levy, is a non starter for my next SE Asian visit.
  21. Continually flying in and out surely puts you in the exempt category after obtaining a re-entry permit valid against the legitimate "Visa issued and any extension " you use for entry, then you should join the queue after immigration for your refund. The necessity of a "Border Run" should be a one off situation to avail time to meet criteria. You say you are on a "retirement visa" yet "flying in and out 3-5 for work". I wish you well, I do care about the many hypocrites abounding Thailand which we've all known about, yet never pressed to redress.
  22. Agree. It is a knee jerk reaction by "Politicians" to boost maybe "coffers for ambiguous purpose" without thought to practicality. Off Topic but similar thought process abounds Thailand. Ban Vaping for “health reasons and to discourage young people from starting to smoke” AKA Protect the Tobacco Authority of Thailand, which is a Thai state enterprise and the sole legal entity permitted to produce tobacco products in the country, thereby creating an inadvertent revenue stream for extortion by corrupt officials of law enforcement. Banning of alcohol on all of the State Railway of Thailand due to a drunken employee who performed an act of rape. If a "Hotel" bartender (or any employee) gets drunk from covert supping and then performed an act of rape upon a guest, should all Hotels then be alcohol free. Perhaps you may wish to add to the hypocrisy without incurring the wrath of moderation
  23. Vietnam is definitely off the cards, being a side tour from Thailand in our last SE Asian excursion Dec/Jan 2022/23, I liken it to "Hell in Paradise". Kuala Lumpur would be the preferred hub, easily accessible to Thailand if we actually need to see family without having to go through Bangkok.. Also, direct access to many other areas of SE Asia via Air Asia. Have been to KL a couple of times and I have been quite impressed.
