  1. The events that they didn't mention are;

    • Getting stabbed in the heart for your hand bag
    • Getting ripped off by your friendly neighborhood taxi driver
    • Getting robbed by the local druggy
    • Getting beat up by the local pimp for not spending time with one of his ladies
    • Getting drugged and robbed by a pretty thing you met at the bar
    • Getting pushed off a balcony

Coming to a Phuket event near you, blink and you will miss it.

  2. BANGKOK:-- Don Mueang International Airport's newly-opened Terminal 2 was busy only hours after the opening.

They thought that they would let everyone know that the international airport terminal was busy, just in case people who live in a cave didn't know that, international airport terminals are busy.

I wonder when they will let us know if the major shopping malls are busy too facepalm.gif

  3. Doesnt reflect the temperatures down near CM city.Currently 3pm and its 31 degrees.

Last night I doubt it got down below 20.Still sleeping with a fan until 2am and barely neeeding a t shirt on getting out of bed around 8am . How many people can we fit on Doi Ithanon ? wouldnt mind sharing some of the cold air.

That's what you should expect, The higher you go the colder it gets compared to the lower regions.

So the moral to this story is don't forget to protected you susceptible lower regions

  4. This site used to be a Saturday night flea market, mostly attended by Thais. It featured vintage motorcycle parts and car parts, as well as antiques and clothing.

Of course, the land was way too valuable to continue that, so they fenced it off, and started digging. The flea market moved across the street to a vacant piece of concrete in front of the Ladprao MRT, about 1/4 the size. Some vendors went to the Railway market east of Chatuchak, before that closed. No momentum, kind of lost its charm.

I used to go every Saturday to see the bikes, and pick up stuff for one of my enduros. GF liked the shoes and girly stuff, but, really, she liked the custom bikes...

The odd foreigner showed up, but it was mostly Thais. Very friendly and laid-back, real enthusiasts, no aggro, just fun.

I used to live a little further up Ratchada, and we would walk there and back, unless I bought something heavy smile.png

This new place looked ambitious, and I guess with the MRT right there, foreigners will see it as an alternative to Asiatique, etc., but I don't see the Thai demographic from the old place (which was packed!) showing up.

Also, I really question the choice of name, "Suan Lum Night Market". I would think most people would remember the old one at Lumpini and be confused...

As an aside, the area surrounding, and further up Ratchadapisek toward Chandrakasem is a very nice place to live, if you're on a budget. If you have a motorbike, you're Golden, because there are cheap apartments further into the sois, access to Wang Hin and Ratchada 36 and all the college hangouts and restaurants. Would be best to speak some Thai, but the restaurants just inside Soi 32 (off Ratchada) are foreigner-friendly, and see a lot of foreign business people because of several small businesses there, and the Department of Export Promotion at the corner. Good little food court attached to DEP...

No girly bars, milling tourists, no hassle. A small music pub, good Isaan restaurant. A favorite garden restaurant short distance into the Soi, but you'll have to explore and find it yourself. My bike had it on autopilot, but I could never explain...

    Sorry for digressing..

Don't apologize, I liked your post, it was informative, well put and the digression was more of a P.S

  5. Resource companies that operate in developing countries, are self regulating, as they have already made the required payments to operate as they wish.

The comany is only interested in production and profits, they have no concern in with the environment, health and safety of the local workforce or the welfare of the surrounding comunities and niether do the leadres of that developing countries

  6. So, anyone who opposes this despotism is automatically assumed to be part of a 'movement'? And what's with charging these Facebook users with LM? If any party deserves that charge, it's those who enriched themselves at the expense of charitable donations to honor the monarchy.

They have started with face book, how long before they start on forums like this one?One thing that you may have not concidered, is that when you get locked up or kicked out of LOS, for spouting off about the current Juna ,the first thing your parner will do is go back to his/her old place of employment and pick up a new sugar daddy and won't give you a second thought or your predicament.wai.gif

What makes you think we all met our partners in an entertainment place?

    Get a life.

What makes him think you didn't ??facepalm.gif

  7. No uniforms. Each student chooses the classes they want for their major and not forced to go with the same cohort from class to class. Electives. Lots of electives in many fields and the space to take them. Let students own their campus, their dorms, their selves. Leave them alone and let them explore. Thai professors. Tell the truth about the gameness of the system. Stop telling them to buckle down, behave, study harder, blah blah. Instead, teach in a way that is exciting, inspiring and provocative. Your students are not motivated because they are BORED. Students must pay for their classes so serve them in an honest way. University is where you can try new ideas and really screw up without many consequences, but they learn.

Sigh! nice post, but trying to get the Thais to understand that, will be the same as Galileo trying to tell everyone the world is not flat.

Thailand has a stagnate culture and social system, apart from the western influences, of Technology, capitalisim and comercialism, I don't think that much has changed since the heady days of Rama V
