I have been teaching in Thailand for 20 years and have taught at all levels. I have experience in both IEP and MEP programs. I have come to the realisation that I am philosophically TOTALLY OPPOSED to the MEP system. IEP is much more practically based on everyday English. MEP has “subjects” taught in English, usually badly by Filipinos. This culminates in students spending years half-learning a large amount of useless information in subjects such as Social Studies and Science, while understanding very little. The other day, my M6 students—who are coming to the very end of term—approached me. Why? They are not prepared for their university entrance interviews, which are to be held in English. I only started with these students last year, but they have been in MEP from at least M2 onwards. They cannot answer basic questions about their past, future, hopes, dreams, or why they should be accepted into the program. They are lost. MEP is a total failure in most, if not all, Thai government schools. The focus should be on quality over quantity. Get rid of most non-native speakers. Focus on using native speakers to prepare Thai students for day-to-day use of English, not giving them a whole load of useless vocabulary in subjects such as Social Studies that they will likely never use. They learn these subjects in Thai. Drop many of these kids in an English-speaking country and tell them to find a job, an apartment, buy food, and make friends, and it is TOTALLY above their level. Most of them have had English lessons since they were at least in primary school. The system is f*cked. But… they can’t charge as much for programs such as IEP, so… you work it out. I took creatine for a few months. I do regular weight training at home. Did it help? Maybe....but one thing that made me stop taking it was bloating. I noticed that some days my stomach seemed distended AND my face a bit bloated. I then started noticing it less when I forgot to take a dose. I decided to stop for a while.....within a week or so I looked leaner. Did I lose muscle? Did it affect my performance? I dont care. I looked better when I stopped taking it. Right now I just concentrate on protein and some supplements. I am not sure if others have experienced this. For me its not worth it. Infact the biggest boost i seem to have gotten is adding more protein to my diet through whey powder.

My wife has obtained some pretty valuable coins from her late American uncle. Some are in boxed sets and some not. I have looked into what they are selling for on ebay etc and, its quite substantial. Is there any market at all for such things here? I am going to Australia with my wife in October and am thinking of trying to sell them there, but have limited time. I may be able to spend 1 full day in Sydney and dont want the coin dealers to smell I have limited time........if you know what I mean. Anyone? Coins???

This may or may not be a popular opinion but........ I got addicted to kratom for a while...yeah yeah, I know..silly me. I was given it by my ex wifes dad. He ate it all day everyday. It was a bit of a boost with coffee and I started munching on the leaves throughout the day....bad idea....(bear with me I am getting to ganja) It didnt make me feel out of control or drunk in any way...it was a mild relaxing/ stimulant. Fast forward a couple of years later and i tried to get off it. I had withdrawals and found it VERY hard to sleep. After a week of basically little to no sleep I decided to have a bit of weed to help me. It helped. I smoked every night for about 1 month.....then I decided to stop. Here is the insidious thing about ganja. Yes, it can help you sleep and it WAS helpful for me......BUT!! while I was smoking it every night I started to notice feeling not great during the day. I couldnt put my finger on it. I was kind of ok, functional but there was 'something' there. After I stopped something VERY noticeable happened. I had REM dream bounce back on a HUGE level.....and gradually, I started feeling myself again. I dont care what bong heads say. There is something negative about smoking this stuff every night in that it KILLS REM sleep. I think longterm this must have negative consequences. There is a reason we dream, I dont know what that reason is but stopping it is NOT good idea. I think it should be legal and I still use it on occasion.
