      Operation Hours: 10.00am - 6.45pm
(Monday to Friday, except Public Holidays)

OP - many thanks Gaccha for details.
I found that logging in to my email account via Google browser worked whereas other browsers still give the 403 warning message.

Kino have 2 of the 4 books I am looking for the other 2 are 2nd hand only and may not be available.

Send them the order by e-mail. They will accept it. I've done it many times because I usually buy very rare books that are not in stock.

OP - could you please give me the email address you used ?

I used to have monthly updates of books from them sent to my old email address, I advised them of my new address but heard nothing more from them.
Like you I enjoy old books which are often not in stock

  3. I used to buy books online from Kinkuniya.
I am trying to send them an order as I don't live in Bangkok but get a "403 Forbidden" message whichever browser I use.

Does anyone know why this should happen ?
Does anyone have a contact address for them or a suitable alternative book store ?

i’ve received many domestic EMS parcels/letters as well as EMS/Express international mail at my PO Box (defined here as a box owned by the Thai Post and not a 3rd party or similar) and each time it was “carded” and that “carded” date/time was recorded as the first delivery attempt for things like service guarantees etc.

Naturally if you, the box holder, don’t come to physically receive it within the specified time frame, it will be sent back to the shipper (for domestic EMSs or handled per rules for international ones) but the Thai Post readily accepted such items for box holders.

When you actually submit the “card” to the staff and get the item - that’s when your delivery signature is taken or recorded as “delivered” as the case may be.

OP - Many thanks new2here for your comments

  5. My daughter took a large dog and a cat back to UK many years ago at that time all animals go into special cages, and certainly not in the cabin.

I am sure it is the same now.

You need to check what health certificates are needed too.

Dogs may be given something to help them relax, you need to discuss with vet.

Your GF must surely realise that some people are allergic to animals. what does she do if the dog wants to pee, take it to the passenger toilet or open the door and tell it to pee outside ?

Well you can always stay the night in KK. There are a few cheap hotels directly opposite the hospital, if you look on Google maps you can find them. There are some in the 500-600-700 Bt a night price range, and plenty of eating places in the area.

I take a dog to KKU Veterinary Hospital for cancer treatment including chemo every Saturday which takes up most of the day.
I can ask my friend who drives me to KK to look after the dog Saturday morning whilst I go for appointment but it's a 5 hour wait for the dog which is very tiresome.
    Guess its Friday

You might indeed be able to get a Saturday morining appt with him through the after hours clinic but it might be necessary to make that appointment in person first

Many thanks Sheryl for your comments.
Saturday mornings would normally be great but, at this time, I am taking a 2 year old dog to KKU Veterinary Hospital for cancer treatment which includes chemo so, it takes much of the day.

May be able to get the person who drives me there to look after the dogon their own while I go for my own check and treatment but, it means waiting around for blood test results which means about 5 hours before chemo is given.

Will see if I can get a daytime visit for Friday.

Prof Charoen Choonhakarn  at Khon Kaen Ram Hospital

    http://www.khonkaenram.com/en/doctors/2

He is also at Srinagraind Hospital in Khon Kaen (Khon Kaen University Hospital), you might be able to see him through their after hours clinic. It will cost much less there but entail waits and language issues,    have a Thai speaker go with you. The after hours clinic usually starts around 4 PM and also on Saturday mornings.

OP - Thanks Sheryl for your comments.
I go to KKU regarding my pacemaker every few months.
I use public transport from Banphai - train ( cleaner etc than the bus ) - as dont have a car, this of course limits time I can spend at the hospital.    Perhaps I could get a Saturday morning appointment ?
I have a friend who can come with me.

+1 for Dr. Charoen. I've been regularly having freezing treatments with him for about a year now. I don't live in KK, I'm in Korat but drive up to KK every month to see Dr. Charoen, then spend a few days relaxing & shopping in KK. I see him at Sriagraind Hospital. The very first time I went there and registered I had a Thai friend come with me as it was all very confusing, but after that one first time I go alone. Never have to wait that long, longest been about 1 hour, and my freezing treatments on spots on my limbs and head cost about 1100 Bt each visit. The doctor speaks good English and the receptionists are all very helpful & friendly. I believe the same treatment at KK Ram costs around 4000 Bt. So myself I have no problem in sitting around waiting for an hour at Sriagraind and saving 3000 Bt.

OP = many thanks for your comments.
I use public transport so would be train from where I live to KK and back ( cheaper, quicker, cleaner ).
I have someone who can come with me.
    Big differences in prices !

I've been enjoying a very good terrorist/criminal drama played out in Ireland and Denmark with collaboration between the two police forces. It's becoming quite an intriguing plot.

'Hidden Assets' 6 pts on the BBC iPlayer..

The series I have recommended "Occupied" from Norway with good subs and English when spoken.
It is about an oil crisis in Europe and a new form of energy that is thought to be able to produce in existing systems.

Norway's oil rigs become  taken over by Russia in a roundabout way. etc
    The series is from 2015.

  11. I had skin cancer of the head and was treated many years ago in Bangkok.
Eventually it was cleared using freezing and removal and I had no further issues until late last year.
Signs of possible cancer are similar but not the same as before again on head and also face.
Now living some 50km from Khon Kaen can anyone recommend a good hospital there ( i.e. KK ) ?

'Paradise Now' directed by Hany Abbu Hasad is a political and psychological thriller about Palestinian men  being  prepared for a suicide attack. One of the bombers, Said, has a woman friend, Suha, who is secular and educated and laughs at him for his ideas about accessing paradise via death.
The movie  is a well made, tense thriller that is politically informative examining middle east political  issues and some of the causes of the violenceand turmoil of the area. During the film production the crew experienced violence, shootings, kidnapping and landmine explosions. It received award nominations. I watched this movie for the second time and would recommend  it.

This film if I remember correctly was in the Bangkok Film Festival many  years ago

  13. During hippie trail days of the 60s - 70s books were often exchanged with people you met along the way.

Unfortunately library's in Thailand seem to be few and far between and limited readership.
I offered my read books to the  local library - not interested; offered farming technical books to KKU - not interested ...
Bangkok used to have good book fairs in the years 2000>>> not sure if they still did before Covid.
Back in the 80's I worked in farming in Saudi used to go back to UK every 3 months and pick up books I ordered.
Khon Kaen had a book fair a couple of years ago, mainly school books and just one guy with a hundred or so pretty unreadable old books.

I had the same issue a few times, try another machine, or just (really) make 50 to 100 1 bath deposits so it get full and then you get a new one ^^

OP - tried other machines in Khon Kaen same problem.
Went to KBank in Central and they, with somewhat showing it was difficult/ not often done/hassle did something on their bank systems and printed in the book not using ATM.
    Will try my local bank.
As its the bank deposit for visa dont want the hassle as only use one time a year.
