  1. You should have looked us up - the Ubon Hash, 'drinkers with a running problem' (albeit in our case the running problem tends to be that many members don't run!).

We were a stones throw away from Tohsang at the N-Joy bar for several hours!

Yeh, I am not far away but the athletic stuff is a distant memory except doing a few weights. whistling.gif

I recall your lot were a stone throw from my place last year, l believe. smile.png

Thank you Sir! I really like the comment "athletic stuff" biggrin.png

  2. A big "Thank You" to Flash-Git for organising a successful and fun run yesterday.

The two "Noi"s added the glamour, but unfortunately the circle got out of hand. Jason started doing back-flips down Palochai, Louie was break-dancing in the bar, Mike started up with his Basil Fawlty impression. Luckily a top guy .. Chris I think his name was .. held dignity and sobriety throughout.

Cheers Steve, look forward to the next one.

A great hash, but sad that the gondolier didn't turn up............

  3. Plan B

Can bring you one (or more) from the UK Bergen if you just mean a standard blow-up Chinese-made camping-type air mattress, complete with the warnings that its not made for pools (but everyone uses them in poolstongue.png ). Cheap single would be about 350 baht, better quality about 600. [Happen to have been looking at them when my own camping mattress let me down on UK Nash Hash].

Have sources in my local town here for the camping variety. Running out of time to look for a made-for-pool airbed in the regional city (Leeds) though on this visit, but could do so on returning here in late September. Aunt's house sale still running slow - bladdy lawyers - can't hang around away from home in Thailand while they grind through the contract.

Sounds good SantiSuk, go for the better quality ones! biggrin.png

  4. Yesterday, Tuesday, was Starbeams normal day off. Went to Norbie's had a beer 2 pm. Norbie had 5 customers. Then we went over to FC, FC had 18 customers. Most were eating and just a few having a beer, mixed crowd of farang male and female and farang male and Thai.

This also is the crowd that FC will always get. Mixed crowd of male and female westerners would suggest tourists. Maybe staying in the Majestic, on the way to the Elephant village and maybe Phanom Rung, copy of Lonely Planet tucked under their arm. The oldest, most established places will get custom from tourists.

Western male and female Thai....well I know of a couple of guys that live out in the sticks. They come in on public transport, like a few beers so don't drive, wife goes shopping and hubby "waits" somewhere. After shopping wife comes to meet hubby has something to eat and they go home. A place near the bus station is the obvious choice for this.

To say that the FC's days are numbered I think are a bit short sighted.

Yes FC's location is very good! wink.png

  5. Would you be willing to give a little more info on hashing in general? How long (distance) are the courses? Is it suitable for those of us not used to running much - run a few minutes, walk a minute, etc? How much time is involved?

The Ubon hash runs are usually less than 5 km long. Not many runners if any, we walk and talk and enjoy the scenery.

It is absolutely suitable for anyone who can put one foot in front of the other. Hope you will come and join us! biggrin.png
