  1. I use a guy at a place called Hair Rich. It is located just opposite the east gate/entrance to Wat Nong Bua, on the soi that goes from thanon Wat Nong Bua to Big C. Coming from Chayangkhun rd., turn right at the temple wall, and its around 100 meters on the right hand side. Beware there are a few others as well so look for the sign............

  2. As posted in similar topics, I have used the Aroma Clinic for many years.

It is located just across Chayangkhun rd by the entrance/exit to/from Big C.

Female dentist, speaks English, and explains what's needed before she starts.............

Bergen, post above, were you not impressed with Khao Prah Vihear cliff area even though as you point out you can't get to the temple from the thai side? I was; it's stunningly beautiful there looking out over Cambodia below. Well worth the time and money I reckon.

I do like the view from the Pa Moo E Daeng cliff, and I do recommend it for tourists.

But having lived just 25 clics away for 13 years, and visited the temple more than 30 times before the border was closed, I get quite annoyed when the charge is 400 baht to enter the park, while not too long ago I could enter for 40.

So I guess my post was a little sarcastic, - If you don't get too many visitors - put the price up........:coffee1:

Here are some pics from last week...?

" I got sucked into having a thai girlfriend which suits me just fine for the time being" that's not nice but I guess you're joking.

Why not pick up the car in Pattaya and join some of these dots I've visited in recent years

     Aranyaprathet

    Up to Sakaeo

Phanom Rung n its neighbouring famous khmer neighbour whose name I can't place just now

Buriram...football stadium tour n race track..wat on the big hill couple of kms away

    Millionbottle wat

    Kantharak n preah vihear (spelling)

    Ubon

    Chong mek

    Mukhahan

Prasat Khao Phra Viharn (Thai) or the Preah Vihear Temple (ruins) is not available from the Thai side, but you can always visit the Khao Phra Viharn National Park 25 clics south of Kantharalak and after paying a modest 400 Baht special farang entry fee, watch the temple in the distance through army binoculars............:whistling:

Probably the only quality transmission (infrequent storm/sun signal outages excepted) will be True Visions True Sport HD4 channel 669 (I checked - the on-screen programme guide shows NRL 2016 Storm v Sharks programmed from 2:30pm to 6:30pm).

TrueV HD4 channel shows on TrueV's Platinum, Gold, Super Family and Super Sports packages. The only 'hostelry' (hotel or bar) I know in Ubon that carries the premium True packages is the Fenneman family's Outside Inn. But I don't recall them having a bar screen and normally they (certainly used to) close the restaurant/bar area in the sleepy afternoon hours anyway - but Brent would consider opening up for a special group activity (he always accommodates us on the Hash). That would mean paying for one of their premium rooms at about 800 baht a night unless there is a bar premium-connected screen, which defeats the object of group watching, unless others sign up to share the in-room experience. Also you would be replacing quality N-Joy roasts with quality Mexican (or other quality falang/Thai food).

I'm sure you would welcome other Ubon Aussies kicking in their two pennyworth.

You would be welcome to watch it on TrueV at my home in amphur Kantharalak (I'm more of a union code man myself, despite my UK Yorkshire roots where the 13-man game is popular, but would be easily persuadable to watch a milestone game!). But that's a fair way from Yaso and all my aussie friends/acquaintances down here (two of whom are mad keen on NRL) are probably gonna want to watch it from a bar stool - on a lower quality IPTV feed at 'Black Dog' bar in meuang Khantaralak. I will check that out later today (a Swiss friend owes me a beer consequent on Arsenal beating Basel this week in the round-ball game!) and maybe mosey on down there myself on Sunday - the food's pretty OK, but not quite up to the N-Joy/Outside Inn standard; now has a new pool table too (not full size).

[Outside Inn is the only hostelry in Ubon that does full justice to quality television for expats in my (well informed through 8 years of monthly stays in a wide range of hotels) experience - but happy to be told otherwise by others!].

No advertorials intended here. N-Joy, Outside Inn, Wrong Way (and in Lower Sisaket, Khantaralak's Black Dog and Pizza-4U) are all enjoyable venues in my book!

If you guys decide to gather up somewhere, please let me know and I might join you!  :burp:

    On on

  6. I live on 2248 13 km West of Nam Yuen.

I've got one Aussie mate in Buntharik + one Norwegian, and the same in Nachaluai .

Lots of foreigners around, but not so easy to get them out from their hide.........

But I'm up for a cold one if the opportunity is there............! :)

Btw. Ubon Hash House Harriers are having a run on Saturday 10/9, and they'll normally take care of your basic needs: Chat, laughs and beer............

Wanted to have dinner at Tom's American on Phalochai Road tonight. Couldn't find it. Closed permanently?

Then went to look for Saloon Café and Bar at Phichitrangsan Road. Couldn't find that either.

Finally ended up in Me Bar Ubon. Expected more of that place ...

To find Tom's place, you have to go all the way down to the river, turn left and you'll find it at the end of the street along the river.  Haven't seen much action when I've passed by.

The Saloon is near the intersection with Chaengsanit rd., on the north side of Pichitrangsan and opposite a Vietnamese restaurant/Golfer House. The Saloon is !

It rather depends where you're starting from, doesn't it?

Pi-lok to Nong Khai takes you through Nam Nao National Park.  You can also swing off north through Dansai, Phu Rua and Loei, and then strike for the Mekong at Chang Khian.  The road then takes you along the Mekong through Si Chiangmai (spring roll capital of the world!) and down into Nong Khai.

The route northwards from Mukdahan goes through That Phanom.  Unfortunately most of it is a mile or two away from the river, so you don't get all that much river scenery.

I agree , with the Pi-look choice. From Mukdahan unfortunately you hardly see the Mekong at all...:(

  9. The 24 going from Ubon to Det Udom is now being completed to be a 4 lane rd all the way.

The "new" 4 lane expansion will go over the rice fields on the east side of the narrow Ban (can't remember the name) which starts by the police box and the rd. turning left to Na Yia thumbsup.gif

  10. I don't mind sensible questions but you seem to be the "Normal" Thai Visa individual that is on here. Like I said everyone is entitled to their point of view.

What I have seen having been here a while now is that Me Bar is the number 1 Resturaunt & Bar in Ubon Ratchathani that offers real mash potato and general British Food and award winning Thai food where you can relax in 3 area's and enjoy yourself whether you are eating or Drinking or Both.

If you have a sensible point I will reply but I'm not wasting my time talking to absolute Drongo's
