  1. I don't use GPS in my motor (not generally a Luddite, but I am when it comes to maps and geography - like to know everything that's going on around me, not just how to drive from A to cool.png.

Sorry about that. Never sure about the reliability of GPS on Google Earth so have not used. Maybe John is better at it.

If you have a smart phone, download GPS fix or whatever it is called for your Android or iPhone, for your current position and send it to yourself per email. Using a GPS guidance relieves a lot of stress and gives you more time to look around you. 'In 2 Kilometres, take the exit' is a lot better than 'where's the bloody map, why is it upside down?'

And those who have a private chauffeur, can sit in the back seat and sip wine, whisky or whatever..........

Wonder how we've managed so far? unsure.png

  2. Yes at Beefeaters it was basically a taco bar with many trimmings sadly missing the refried beans and guacamole dip. Still tasty and the hard shell taco shells weren't from a box, not perfectly shaped anyway. The extras like ribs, Mexican spring rolls, twice baked potatoes and beef stew were different.

So it was a small all you can eat rib buffet with a touch of tacos, tortilla chips and Texas chili. The salsa, while not perfect was pretty close. The jalapeno cheese was interesting and the shredded cheese was mozzarella, white cheese. I guess a true cheddar cheese in Thailand isn't popular and is therefore expensive.

Sounds like u think the same as me Maybe that's the best we can get in Thailand

I don't know why all these people are going on about how good Mexican food is in there own country If we can't get it here

Do they think Chinese food is the same in America and the uk as it is in China?

Or do the Indians have a dish called bombay potatoes?

And I herd some where that pizza is so different that in Italy they want 2 change the name of it in the rest of the world

Unless they tell me where 2 get real Mexican food I wish they will stop going on about it

Here you go. 2 worthy places in Bangkok.

LaMonitas has been mentioned and I agree, good stuff.

Adjacent to Ploenchit BTS Station in Bangkok.

Sabroso is on Suk Soi 23 in Bangkok run by a real Mexican, a character named Jorge. Small place with a few tables.

I had Pazole soup and carnitas tacos recently. Yummy.

I would add Tacos & Salsa at the far end of Suk soi 18. smile.png

Sabroso was closed last week , when i went to try the place! sad.png

La Monita can now also be found at the Helix Tower, Emquartier

  3. In stead of driving the boring 24, from Lahan Sai go east following the Cambo border. Visit Wat Laan Kuad/Billion bottle temple in Khun Han and Khao Phra Viharn National Park at the East end of 221 / near Kantharalak. Continue along 2248, have lunch/stay the night at a nearby tropical garden farm stay, As a further detour and just after Nam Yuen, catch a glimse of the land walking shrimps at Kaeng Lamduan, see the Huay Luang water fall near the Emerald Triangle, and then head North to Ubon......................rolleyes.gif

  4. for anyone unknown to Ubon, it's still not a good direction.................rolleyes.gif

    My guess is

going North on Chayangkhun/main road, turn right on to the ring road after Big C, and then after a km or so it's on the right/city side of the road, before hitting the Trakan Puetpon junction? unsure.png

    Not quite, Bergenwink.png

It's on the left side, same as the vehicle licence centre.

Do you think Next will give us a free beer for putting them on to the Ubon expats map?smile.png

    sounds good to me! burp.gifbiggrin.png

  6. It's not a King, and it's not a rat snake . It looks like an Isaan spitting cobra, which I've seen a few times during the years I've been here! blink.png

  7. So enlighten me. What kind of lemons are these?

    post-164212-0-25063500-1433182050_thumb.

I have no idea. It would be interesting to see if they taste like lemons. I know of only 4 varieties of lemons and all look similar to each other, and I've seen them all across the S. US and the Mediterranean, mostly Italy and Spain.

I am still working on a name for this tree but my wife says they are NOT lemons and we had this fruit in Chiang Mai.

Asked my wife today, she says they are called Mafai and are a little like Lychee but sweet and sour tasting.

Mafai is correct, we have several trees in our garden/farm! smile.png

  8. 600 was my last price at T3 and 1600 at Sunee. Closer to ⅓ then any other popular fraction I can think of. wink.png

    Yepp, 600 baht a night, and if you're a regular, you'll get every 10th night free!! thumbsup.gif
