The Thailand Industry Sentiment Index (TISI) suffered another setback after experiencing a decline for the second month in a row, partly due to uncertainties surrounding the formation of a new coalition government. In May, the TISI dropped to 92.5 points from 95 in April. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), cited issues in setting up a government and the political situation as significant factors in the TISI decline. Despite the Move Forward Party (MFP) securing the most votes in the May election and quickly partnering with seven other political parties, doubts have risen over MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat‘s alleged violation of Section 151 of the organic law on the election of MPs. Kriengkrai questioned whether the Senate would vote in favour of Limjaroenrat’s prime ministerial candidacy. The TISI decline is influenced by domestic political uncertainty, an export downturn, and the impact of global geopolitical conflicts on business confidence. The TISI reading for May is based on a survey of 1,327 entrepreneurs across 45 industries. Kriengkrai highlighted that domestic political uncertainties are causing concern among manufacturers and exporters as shipments experience a slowdown. A Thai man suffered from an unexplained rash. The initial diagnosis suspected shingles, but shingles treatment proved ineffective. A second hospital later suggested the cause may be an environmental allergy. Social media users expressed concern and shared their thoughts on the unusual condition. A Facebook page named ‘Ee Sor Ka Yhee Khao 2’ posted pictures of a patient with a severe rash without a definite cause. The first hospital initially suspected shingles, but the treatment was ineffective, leading to a change in hospitals. The post garnered significant attention, with many users expressing concern and sharing their opinions on the ailment. Today, reporters visited Suranaree, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima, to meet with 28 year old Wacharaphorn, the girlfriend of the 29 year old patient, Chanachai. Wacharaphorn revealed that her boyfriend’s rash began on May 4, but they were unsure of the cause. Chalachai usually enjoys gardening, cutting trees, and cleaning their house. His symptoms first appeared after removing wallpaper during a renovation project, which made him believe he might be allergic to the wallpaper dust, reported Sanook. The authorities successfully rescued a lost bottlenose dolphin that had ventured into the Tha Chin River in the Ratsada district of Phuket. Residents, anglers, and fishermen in the district spotted the dolphin swimming in Tha Chin River near Koh Sire Bridge at 8am today and reported it to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Centre. Residents urged the relevant authorities to rush to the scene as they were worried that the river was not fit for the mammal’s habitat as the brackish water might harm the dolphin. Moreover, many anglers fish along the route and several boats travel along the river which was dangerous for the animal. Upon closer examination, experts were able to identify the stranded dolphin as a bottlenose dolphin, measuring approximately 1 meter in length, and that it had likely become separated from its group. While initial media reports stated it was one attacker, the Phuket Express reports that there were in fact, 3 drivers involved in the fracas. It all kicked off when a legally registered, fully-compliant female Bolt driver picked up a foreign passenger from outside a restaurant in Bang Tao, in the northern part of Phuket’s west coast. Three men approached her car and proceeded to hit and jump on the vehicle. Two of the men have been named as Wuttidet Promthong and Udomchai Pengsut. They were summoned to Cherng Ttalay Police Station where they were charged with damaging another person’s property and threatening someone. Police have not named the third driver, but say he has also been summoned to face charges. By Peter Roche Caption: Phuket's finest. A community-based group called Khon Rak Ban Kerd (People Who Love Their Hometown), along with international students from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, school children and teachers from Ban Huai Phuk School and the head of the Khao Luang Sub-district Administration Organisation collaborated to revive the once-thriving ecosystem on the mountain and heal the scars left by mining. The “Reforesting the Mountain for Sustainable Life” project aims to restore the nature and the environment of the community and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. Nature lovers were brought together at the abandoned gold mine in Phu Sam Pha Bon and surrounding area. They planted more than 5,000 indigenous tree species and collected an additional 10,000 seeds of local tree species gathered by the villagers. “I feel like the long-awaited day has finally come,” said Ranong Kongsaen, a 61-year-old member of Khon Rak Ban Kerd group. She emphasised that this activity has been eagerly anticipated by the villagers, who experienced judicial harassment in their lawsuit against the mine and were involved in more than 27 court cases. Their demands were the closure of the mine and the restoration of the environment in the area. In the five years since the court ruled in their favour, no environmental restoration efforts have been initiated.
