  2. There’s a new eco-friendly initiative in Thailand. Thantawan Industry Plc, a leading plastic manufacturer and developer of innovative products, is focusing on producing eco-friendly products in support of the Thai government’s bio-, circular, and green (BCG) economic development initiatives. The company’s garbage bags, made from recycled plastic beads, and straws, which are made from biodegradable materials, are aimed at helping Thailand better manage its plastic waste, according to Ekaphol Pongstabhon, the chief executive of Thantawan Industry. He said… “We are the first Thai company to receive a green label from the Thailand Environment Institute for our Sunstraw Green PE. The label indicates this product supports the campaign to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.” Green PE refers to bio-based polyethene made from sugar cane, a renewable raw material, Bangkok Post reported. Thantawan started launching green products last year and will continue to develop new ones as the world becomes increasingly informed of environmental issues. The development of environmentally friendly products is in line with the company’s business plans. Currently, 80 to 85% of the company’s total revenue comes from exports, while the remainder is generated by sales in the domestic market. 6. The gut-wrenching struggle of a four year old girl and her 68 year old blind grandmother in the Isaan province of Buriram tugged on the nation’s heartstrings leading the good people of Thailand to dig deep into their pockets and donate 1 million baht to help the family. A Thai teacher, Phatcharin “Aoom” Esatee, took to social media to seek aid for her four year old student, Toey. Aoom shared videos on TikTok featuring Toey with her blind grandmother, Sao Jindasi. Despite her young age, Toey managed all the household chores, including washing clothes, doing dishes, and even assisting her grandmother with the cooking. Aoom spoke to KhaoSod after the videos went viral revealing that Toey attends Baan Makham Thantawan Kindergarten, where Aoom serves as her class teacher. Each day, Toey’s grandmother, Sao, accompanies her to school and makes her way back home, despite her blindness. The school’s policy encourages teachers to visit students’ homes, providing Aoom with an opportunity to meet Toey at her residence. Aoom said that she was speechless when she saw the conditions of Toey’s house. There were holes in the roof. The house has a floor of dirt and a wooden bench that the two used as a bed. Aoom said… “Toey’s grandmother told me that she uses a mat to cover Toey when it is raining. I could not ignore them. Toey is very lovely at school. She cannot afford food and snacks like her other friends, but she never cried for them. She sometimes asked for snacks from me and I shared them with her. She never plays with her school friends during lunch breaks. Instead, she would come to me and help me clean the classrooms.” By Petch Petpailin Caption: Photo via Facebook/ เกือบสวย Full Story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/kind-hearted-thais-donate-over-1-million-baht-to-help-4-year-old-girl-and-her-blind-grandmother-video -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-06-13 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 8. Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader and prime ministerial candidate of the Move Forward Party, is currently under investigation regarding his alleged shareholding in iTV Plc. If these allegations are proven true, it could result in his disqualification from assuming the position of Prime Minister and a subsequent ban from engaging in politics. Although the election commission recently dismissed several cases pertaining specifically to holding the shares, the issue now is if Pita specifically ran for Prime Minister while knowingly having the shares and understanding they could disqualify him as Prime Minister, which could even potentially see jail time if convicted. The case of Pita’s media holding came to light after a member of the former government, Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, filed a petition to the Election Commission (EC) calling for it to launch an investigation into Pita’s holding of 42,000 iTV shares, a media company that has been suspended from trading and its shares have been delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand for about fifteen years. 14. BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced a new strategy to expand the domestic Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) market. TCEB President Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya said the organization recognizes the importance of the domestic MICE industry due to its consistent growth rate of approximately 5% under normal circumstances from 2017 to 2019. Observing increased event organization and traveler flow across all regions of Thailand, the TCEB has reorganized its team and developed comprehensive plans to enhance the domestic MICE industry under the banner "New MICE Perspectives - Discover Your MICE Experience in Thailand." The organization is focused on networking to expand market opportunities and jointly drive industry success. To this end, a new Domestic MICE Market Promotion Department has been established to oversee a 360-degree mission, including the development of products, services, destinations, venues, local businesses and communities, promotional marketing, support schemes, and marketing communication. The main approach to upgrading the domestic MICE industry involves several key elements: 1. promoting business growth with measurable results through innovation and new platforms, and developing a sustainable business growth model; 2. strengthening business cooperation between Thailand and international partners through the MICE Development Committee network; 3. comprehensive support and incubation of MICE business to lay the groundwork for a new industry master plan; 4. enhancing long-term economic and societal value by developing the industry’s Ecosystem Architecture and ensuring the sustainability of destinations and locations. Chiruit further explained that TCEB currently operates four regional offices - specifically in the Northern, the Northeastern and East-West-Central regions, as well as in the South. Chiruit said, "The new dimension of domestic MICE plays a significant role in driving Thailand’s economy, particularly the grassroots economy, as it creates jobs, generates income, and improves the quality of life for local communities - all of which are considered the core pillars of sustainable national development." The Cambodian Premier shared his concern-free while holding a get-together with some 18,000 workers and employees in Kampong Chhnang province this morning. “I would like to welcome the information I received from the Kingdom of Thailand. I previously expressed my concern about Thailand’s Move Forward Party’s intention to expel Lao and Cambodian migrant workers from Thailand [...]. Yesterday we have made it clear that there was no such intention, but they will further facilitate [their stay], so we are no longer worried about the repatriation of our migrant workers in Thailand,” he said. There are about 1.2 million Cambodian workers in Thailand. On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reiterated the necessity of his reaction to any expel or dismissal or loss of benefits of Cambodian workers abroad.
