The thief was arrested at his rental room in the Sattahip district of Chonburi. Sattahip Police were notified of the missing iPads from employees at a company named Toyota Pattaya 1998 on February 20th. The company is located in the Sattahip district of Chonburi. The police launched an investigation and found that the company’s security camera system had been disabled deliberately around the time when 8 Gen 7 Apple iPads went missing. The stolen devices were worth about 120,000 baht. The deputy commander of the Pattaya Tourist Police inspected the police station yesterday to assess the station’s readiness to receive more foreign tourists. On February 23rd, deputy commander of the Tourist Police Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongsiam Meekanthong traveled to the Pattaya Tourist Police Station to observe the place’s facilities, equipment, and personnel. The deputy commander also reviewed the station’s standard operating procedures and protocols for handling tourist-related issues. Maj. Gen. Pongsiam praised the station and police officers for being very well-prepared. He also revealed to The Pattaya News that the Tourist Police are ready to welcome incoming Chinese tourists who will soon arrive at the U-Tapao International Airport and then travel to Pattaya. Pattaya Police searched what they said was a suspicious looking man and found a gun on his person. The man was arrested. The man was identified as 35-year-old Mr. Uthit Somwang. Pattaya Police disclosed to The Pattaya News that they ran into him in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district of Banglamung district, at 4 PM on February 22nd. The police stated Uthit was riding a motorbike and looked somewhat suspicious. The authorities then asked to search him and found a hand-made gun on him. Anutin told a meeting of the National Confederation of Networks for Thai Smoke-Free Society yesterday, February 23rd, that it is alarming that more people, especially youngsters, turned to smoking electronic cigarettes nowadays due to a misconception that the device cannot cause cancer or is harmless for health. This is totally not true, Anutin said, citing the World Health Organization’s study which according to them confirms that e-cigarettes are indeed harmful. Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) police in coordination with the U.S. Consulate General have arrested a Vietnamese national suspected of using forged documents to acquire a U.S. student visa. The person presented the required documents including an appointment confirmation letter and a Form I-20 on Feb. 14. The U.S. Consulate General confirmed through technical verification that the appointment confirmation letter and the Form I-20 were falsified, and that the original information belonged to previous visa applicants, the consulate said in a statement Thursday. Department deputy director Nguyen Van Lam said that Pou Yuen, a supplier of Adidas, Nike and Reebok, was planning to lay off workers due to a drop in order numbers. An airport representative said Thursday the monkey was spotted on Feb. 14 and 18 near an airport security booth. When security team members approached the animal, it ran away, the representative added. The monkey has not yet intruded on the runway, but security personnel have yet to come up with a solution to the possible threat. The Ghent court of appeal sentenced Vo Van Hong to 10 years in prison, reducing his original prison sentence by five years, kept his fine at 920,000 euros ($975,000), and said he didn't care about his victims. "He took advantage of desperate people and wanted to make as much profit as possible. The Ca Mau People’s Committee asked for the money in a recent letter sent to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, saying that erosion is a big and increasing threat to local livelihoods. The area lost to erosion over the past decade is as large as a commune in the province, the People’s Committee said. MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Brooke's Point, Palawan and its residents have called on the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to issue a cease and desist order against Ipilan Nickel Mining Corporation for continuing its mining operations despite failing to renew its permit for 2023. This comes after Brooke's Points residents — including indigenous people and farmers — formed a human barricade on February 21 to block INC's trucks transporting minerals and permanently stop its mining operations, which they say have permanently damaged their land and livelihood.
