The girl’s body was found washed ashore this morning, near the scene where she went missing. Rescue teams scoured the sea throughout last night and this morning for Prewwan, who was washed into the sea as she was playing on the beach with two other children. The girl’s parents spent the whole night waiting on Chalathat Beach, hoping for the safe return of their child. At about 9.40 this morning, the search teams found the body of the girl on the beach and sent to the provincial hospital for identification. He said that the procurement of the two hi-tech aircraft is in the process of “coordination” between the two sides, which includes related issues such as inspection, by the US, of the airbase where the planes are to be stationed if the purchase is approved by the US congress. ACM Alongkorn explained that the RTAF has to revise its White Paper on long-term arms procurement every 3-5 years,because of a discrepancy between the budget sought each year by the RTAF and the actual budget received from the government. The death toll in road accidents during the first three days of the seven-day New Year holidays has risen to 146 and 1,182 people have been injured in 1,183 accidents, according to the Department of Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation today (Sunday). 59 people were killed and 467 others were injured in 466 road accidents yesterday alone. 36.70% of the accidents were caused by speeding and 30.04% involved drunk driving. Motorcycles were involved in 82.56% of the accidents. 80.90% of the incidents occurred on straight roads. During the past three days, a total of 424,745 cars and motorcycles were stopped by police and other officials for examination. 67,203 drivers have been charged, including 18,964 for not having a license, 18,116 for not wearing a crash helmet and 8,497 for speeding. Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said that, under the amended traffic law, once convicted of drunk driving an offender faces a maximum one-year prisonsentence and/or a fine of between 5,000 and 20,000 baht for the first offence. For a second offence within two years, the repeat offender faces up to two years in prison and/or a fine of between 50,000 and 100,000 baht. She said that the court may impose both imprisonment and a fine for the offence and may suspend the driver’s license for one year or revoke the license. Sawang Boriboon rescuers rescued a female victim, Ms. Bongkocharat Uamthon, from her white Nissan Almera sedan that overturned beside a white MG vehicle. Rescuers told The Pattaya News that the woman was not injured but was shocked by the accident. Her car, on the other hand, was completely ruined by the collision. Police in central Thanh Hoa Province on Wednesday detected suspicious signs on a truck traveling from HCMC to Thai Nguyen Province and so stopped it for inspection. The police found a styrofoam box on the truck. When the driver failed to tell them what was inside the box, they opened it and found a bag weighing 15kg.
