Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today (Tuesday) that he can occupy the office for more two years only and he promises to do his best so that he can pass the baton to a successor who is “recognised” by the public. The remark, which is the clearest self-declared indication yet of his political future, was in response to reporters asking whether he has made up his mind about his political future. Asked what the target of his work next year will be, the Prime Minister simply said that, if he stays on as prime minister (after the next election), his term in office will expire in 2025. Visitors are now returning to these islands in droves, especially those off Thailand’s southern province of Krabi, after several were reopened to controlled visits, with limitations being imposed to protect the environment and ecological system. Teekawut Sriburin, chief of Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, said that it is necessary for some protective measures to be retained, including limits on the number of visitors each day. MRT-3 commuters at North Ave. station observe the reduced physical distancing protocol by the Department of Transportation on Sept. 14, 2020. The STAR / Michael Varcas MANILA, Philippines — Beep card operator AF Payments Inc. defended itself from accusations of profiteering amid the shortage of Beep cards in stations of the Metro Rail Transit-Line 3 as stressed that it has been subsidizing the cost of cards for years. The stored-value cards for public transportation have reportedly been out of stock in some train stations along the MRT-3 line. Cards, however, are being sold for a steeper P188 through AF Payments' official online stores in online shopping platforms Lazada and Shopee. If bought from a rail station, the card's price is P100 with a P70 load balance. In a statement issued through the Department of Transportation's communications team, the company said that its allocation of cards for online sales was less than 1% while only .08% went to online card sales. Meanwhile, more than 95% of cards went to rail stations and are subsidized by AFPI and the national government. The dugong was female, weighing more than 300 kg, measuring about 3 meters in length, and aged 6-7 years old. Sattahip officials examined the dugong’s carcass but could not identify its cause of death. The officials said it was a shame that such a large and beautiful dugong had died so soon.
