The Expressway Authority of Thailand, or EXAT, has warned of legal action such as lawsuits against any internet users who do not delete what they call offensive edited signs welcoming people to the APEC conference in Bangkok. They have given “netizens” 24-hours to remove the edited signs, stating that anyone who edited the signs in a vulgar way or against morality will face legal action if the images are not deleted. The shared images went viral after an original photo of a welcome sign with a typo went viral, which has since been corrected by organizers of the event. The sign has the EXAT logo and since then the original typo became a meme with a variety of other slogans, images, and messages. BANGKOK (NNT) - Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening of the APEC CEO Summit 2022, emphasizing post-Covid economic recovery through the “BCG Model, Inclusive Growth and Digitalization.” Gen Prayut reveals that cooperation and determination from all sectors, especially the partnership between the public and private sectors, are keys to building a sustainable and inclusive future. The 2022 APEC CEO Summit is one of the most significant gatherings as it is the first in-person meeting after a 4-year postponement due to Covid-19. It shows that the region is ready to reconnect. He added that Thailand is focusing on sustainable development under the BCG model along with the theme “Open Connect and Balance” as a national agenda and strategy to reboot the economy post-pandemic. The three important keys are also mentioned during his speech. The first is sustainability by promoting environmentally friendly businesses and carbon reduction. The second key is inclusive growth by supporting MSMEs and gender equality. And the third and last key is the digital economy by raising awareness of digitalization as well as boosting digital infrastructure. One of the dishes too be served at the gala dinner for APEC leaders and their spouses tonight (Thursday) at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall is caviar from the Royal Project Foundation. The caviar is the product of the Doi Inthanon highland fishery research unit of the Foundation, which has spent the 17 years since sturgeon were brought into the country researching whether the cold water fish can survive and spawn in a tropical environment. After years of trial and error, the Thai researchers have succeeded in breeding sturgeon and producing caviar in commercial quantities. The Thai caviar, to be served to the APEC leaders, comes with an amount of pride, especially for those at the Royal Project Foundation responsible for the caviar project.
