There certainly seems to be a worldwide negativity against Brits nowadays.
I do not know why.
I would suggest telling people you are from Australia. You can probably get away with that.

Well that's true but many like to go out and meet new 'friends'. I do both ????
My experience is more then half the people here take issue with another starting and conversation.
Normal questions like where you from? or how long have you been here? Among others get them on the defensive.

Here’s the thing that gets me. They can put all this effort into enforcing a completely pointless requirement because it means taking money off farangs, but they’re completely incapable of enforcing road safety that costs the lives of at least 60 Thai human beings every single day.
No helmets, no seatbelts, riding in the back of pickups? No, go and spend your time checking where the farang spends every night.
Very naive uneducated comments.
There are many factors related to the traffic deaths here. Few of them are related to the police "enforcing road safety".
The no seatbelt, no helmet blah blah. There are checkpoints set up all over the popular cities enforcing this. It is big money for the Thai police as they get a "bonus" at the end of each month for the number of paid citations written. So in fact, there is tremendous incentive for them to "enforce the law".
But of course, then all the whiners regarding these police check points will complain and cry about why the police are not out "stopping real crime".
But hey, when in doubt blame it on the police.
Certainly a world wide small box phenomenon..,

With no more frangs to finn and fleece then what, back to work in the rice fields?
No.
As there will be many jobs in the future catering to Chinese and other tourists. In fact, a predict a shortage of tourism workers.
Sorry, but Falang priorities and wanting to be "treated like Kings" are a thing of the past.

Have to go and wait 2 hours with a hand full of paperwork just for my friend to stay a few days at your house within 24hours. Understandable to do this if you could do it in English online but the anxiety of waiting and photocopying everything in that small office in Chonburi is just ridiculous.
If the rules are that difficult for you to follow, then I suggest next time he book a hotel.

OP should not worry as the Thai greed will soon put prices around 300 THB for 1 single drink....btw...a whiskey-coke already costs around 300 THB if not a bit more in some Bangkok clubs like Levels or Insanity so others will soon follow...until they will have no customers left.
You are right about the price but I do not agree with no customers left. If people will pay it that is not greed, but what the market is accepting.
These BKK clubs are still very popular and mostly now 2 week millionaires who want to party and hook up.
Mostly now seems low number of falang attendees.
I use to be one many years ago and cared less about a drink price. Most residents however, seem to know better.

They also have a Uni playing field , you can watch the girls exercising at 2.30 PM everyday
They take a shower after as well , you cannot watch, but you can hear the water coming from the shower and just use your imagination
Hmmm.
So that is your thing?
Who would know this unless they had actually been there??

I wonder if a McDs opened, how long would it be before KFC, BK, Pizza Hut et al followed? Be careful what you wish for. I would not like Jomtien to be a copy of Pattaya. I want it to keep a seperate and distinct identity.
It is not a copy of anything. Obviously these are successful companies. There are plenty of space opportunities to open these stores in Jomtien. But it is clear they do not feel a store in Jomtien is a viable or profitable investment.
Why is that?
Same with no mall....
Go to a movie
Go bowling
A decent clothes shop
Great food courts
Better restaurant s
Much better lady hookup opportunities. ????
Yes McD's occasionally
KFC
Starbucks
Go on and on. The Jomtieners will say how much they hate these places. Truthfully, it is sour grapes as they need to come over the hill for a better big picture life variance.
There are really no activities or things to do in Jomtien.
And, like I said these major companies know something about the true demographics so they stay away.
All true....
Most I know that have bought in Jomtien because "it is cheaper" are not happy.
They want out
I know I would....

How was someone aware of this incident, to then have the market check the CCTV?
Did the woman come back, realizing she was a bill short?
Was a surveillance person or a customer watching it occur but doing nothing about it?
Neither of those seem likely.
One thing they invested in some good cameras better then most.
Your question, often security will be looking live. But if not, they will go back over video mostly checking for internal theft. Maybe that cashier has come up short a few times.
Anyway, I assume that may have been the case here then they stumbled upon this moron.

Well Cambodia is buying Thailand time.....The Chinese are keeping pretty busy colonizing Cambodia right now... But one day they will get bored with Cambodia.....
The fastest road to ruin Thailand would be to legalize gambling..Gambling would bring in hoards of Chinese of the worst kind.....
Correct. Sadly, Cambodia sucks and Pattaya is pristine now compared to Sianoukville.
Which is why I hope legal gambling never happens here.

I am wondering what the USA SAT scores are from Thais who attend these expensive international schools.
I ask because sorry, the ones I have met seem way behind the curve.
Parents telling me their kid is going to IVY league schools seems impossible.

Too much nit picking with these machines.
I just spent the past 2 weeks in CM it was beautiful. Played golf just about every morning.
Some rain in the evening, Seemed all clear and fresh to me thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Some need to live their life and move on...

I believe you, don't worry ????
Actually i've been to such a village before, my ex GF comes from such a village in Chiang Rai and i did stay there for a few days.
But since it's not possible to do this as a day trip from Chiang Mai and my girlfriend is not as flexible with her working hours as i am, this needs some planning.
Go without her.
Plenty of girls in the villages gladly will take care. ????

You’re becoming childish sir.
Just factual.
You seem very confused.
You have gone on and on for months how much you hate malls and cannot understand why people go to them.
Many disagreements and your hatred for all of it is well documented.
Now, you want a big seaside mall in your town of Jomtien?
This is all the truth.
So.... what is your deal??

If the choice is Thailand then Jomtien is my number one.
What i still miss in Jomtien is a seaside shopping mall.
At some point there will be a condo developer thinking hey lets built a big fat mall here with a condominium on top of it.
Well, they already have one with a luxury hotel on top. It's called Terminal 21.
But it is a short ( one hour on Friday evening s) baht bus ride to your desired malls all of which are in Pattaya.
They will never ever build a mall in Jomtien.
Sorry.
Maybe even a McDonald's in Jomtien would be joyful for many. Let's try starting with that. ????

Well, there you go I knew your hatred of the Pattaya malls was because you do not have any.
I personally would be depressed in Jomtien.
How long can you stare out at that bright sea before boredom sets in??
