Yes I had a good look at it. does it fit into the laptops USB port? It looks a different shape.

    No.

The HDMI port should look like this.   it's on the back but on some models they can be on the side too.

The Monitor is part of a desktop I bought from JCB and the model no is S20A300B there is no way it is going to

fit in to my new laptop.

On the contrary, it appears that your monitor has a DVI port. DVI ports are directly compatible with HDMI, so you will probably just need a DVI to HDMI adapter; or yoy can even buy HDMI to DVI cables.

It's probably a lot more straightforward than you  think.

  3. I'm not aware of any way to arbitrarily kick a device off a WiFi network from a standard router.  Does the HG8245H allow you to set up a second WiFi SSID?  If so you could set up a second Wifi name for the kids and then just turn that one off when you need to, keeping the main WiFi name available (with a different password).  This would stop all devices on that Wifi.

    Would this work for you?

  4. This may be something you are able to manage from within the router itself.  The tool you were looking at is designed to power down PCs, so not the right way to go.

    More questions...

Do you want to restrict WiFi access to certain times of the day? This could be straightforward, depending on your router?

Or, do you want to be able to force a disconnect as and when you feel you need to?

What is your router make/model no?

Is it your own, or provided by your Internet provider?

Do you know if it has customized firmware?

I know you said you are looking for something simple and it may well be easy to adjust some settings in the router!

  5. What are you trying to achieve?

Do you want to prevent certain devices from connecting or allow only certain devices (blacklist/white list)?

If so. you need to look at MAC address filters.

Or, do you actually want to force devices to power off? If so, are they Windows PCs?  Are they yours?

Need to get a lot more info for people to understand what you want so that they can help you.

Yes that’s correct I recently signed up. So does anyone know how this works? Does the Warner Media Company who owns HBO just play musical contracts every 3 years or what? So now 3BB has the contract, and up until about December 31st 2016 True had the contract then AIS got it in 2017 and now 3BB. So I wonder if we’ll have to switch cable companies again in another 3 years. It seems like this happens here about every 3 years between true and AIS but yes it’s now with 3BB (3 BroadBand). They’re better than True HD or AIS ever was! AIS said they’d replace it with new channels but they’re not exactly new definitely not a replacement.

From what I have seen from my time in Thailand; that's exactly what's going to happen.  It's been the same with the Premier League football contract that gets renegotiated every 3 years.  (And moves to the highest bidder?)

I'm sure IT would only sell computers with an operating system with a genuine license.

Anyway there are ways to check if the OS is genuine in the windows settings - system info and activation settings.

One could also run a simple cmd prompt to check the windows license status

"wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey'' and "slmgr.vbs/dlv"

Even this does not prove 100% that the OS is genuine but It will certainly help show when the installation has been activated by means of a dodgy KMS server or KMSpico hack,

If the OS has been activated by a MAK key or other key that was not intended for a home user, you would need specific knowledge to identify this.  Also, in some circumstances, depending on how the installation was done, it may show a generic product key.

Also, there are crack methods that trick MS servers into accepting W10 as real when it is not.

  8. I've checked, and the transponder changes depending on the channel; so, that's probably not an issue. I'm going to hazard a guess that you simply need a new LNB. You can probably find a local independent shop to do it instead of waiting for True.

  9. Your problem may be bigger than just getting a new LNB.  The boxes also required a firmware update to be downloaded from the old satellite prior to changing the LNB.

EDIT:  If your box was powered on over the last few weeks before the shutdown, then there is a chance it may have been automatically downloaded and applied.   If you can post the model number of the receiver you have then maybe someone can check the firmware revision number you need to be on for it to work.

  10. I did my online 90-day last week.  What I got was a pop-up immediately after I clicked submit.  I very nearly clicked on it without reading it but it's a good job I didn't.  The message actually said that my report was approved and to go back into the system to print out the receipt.  I didn't and still have not got an email.
