  1.  While back in the USA for over one month, I noticed a charge on my Visa card for a Hotel in Thailand through the subject when I am not in Thailand and have absolutely have no knowledge of and at home and never accessed Agoda. Now I am trying to dispute and Agoda says the Hotel will not cancel the reservation saying it's my fault for booking when I did not. Contacted the Bank the hotel debit is still pending so I have to wait to dispute after it is posted. Agoda somehow posted this room for me from a saved Visa card I had on file through their website-Lessons learned. Looks like I am going to eat this charge since I will not be able to prove I did not make this charge via their website. Anyone else had this problem??

  2.  Prices to the USA are high also, just got through paying $851 from BKK to Narita (JAL-NRT) and $1250 on Singapore Airlines from NRT to Los Angeles-One way, where I used to pay $1300 round trip from Orlando to BKK. I do not see the prices going down!! Good Luck to all and "Happy Travels."

  3. FYI from a Facebook Thai Visa posting (2/15/2023):

Today I was at savannakhet thai embassy, got there before 9am.
The line was massive, when I finally got to the counter after being in line for over 2 and half hours they said I needed bank statement and confirmation of booking in Laos.
I quickly rushed across the road got my thai bank statement but on my booking confirmation didn't have my name on it and was told to came back the next day.
I printed out the Visa application and on the form it does not state bank statement or confirmation of booking.

  4.  Yes, last week, my Thai wife and I did the trip on Wednesday. Traveled from Ubon in my truck and parked (250 baht) at the freedom bridge. Took the "Thai" bus over (20 Baht each) paid 1,900 baht for visa on arrival window at the Laos freedom bridge. Wife on her Thai Passport paid 100 baht to enter. Had to hurry due to the bus waiting for us to travel to the Savannakhet bus station. Paid a tuktuk to 80 baht to our hotel Avalon Residence, which was in walking distance-Did not know. Paid hotel 20 USD, not interested in paying in baht. I already had a Thai Non-O Multiply one year Visa so I did not visit the Thai consulate. Took a Tuktuk to the Mekong River boardwalk 150 baht. Found out all Tuktuk's charge 150 for any ride anywhere. Had dinner at the Savannakhet New Night Market-street food paid in baht. 150 baht back to the hotel. Morning hotel breakfast nothing special for me; eggs, hotdog, toast, coffee.  Hotel desk said we could walk to bus station, which we did. Paid 100 baht, 50 each for "Laos" bus back to Thailand via freedom bridge. Bus ticket said 25 baht, not 50. At Laos immigration to get stamped out paid 100-baht, wife on Thai passport paid the same. Got to the Thai side stamped in "GOOD" for another 90 days. Bus ride over and back not full like years before where you had to fight to get on. Both rides were around noon. Trip was uneventful, but we had the feeling of being scammed every which way a few baht here and there. Locals treat you as a Visa run not a Tourist. I think you can maybe just go in and back if your on a multiple entry. Hope this helps, Good Luck and Happy Travels.

  5. I buy all on Lazada Thailand:  VALVOLINE MAX LIFE (10W40) 4Lแถม1L oil and 1042 BOSCH กรองน้ำมันเครื่อง TOYOTA oil filter and do the work myself after some problems with oil change vendors not doing the work properly. Change every year or every 10,000 k's which I never reach.

  6.  Sorry about your condition, BritManToo is right on to go back to the UK. I was very sick about 5+years ago and had a MRI scan at Bumrungrad (Cost $1,200 cash USD) and a Doctor there diagnosed me having a Heidel Hernia and he pressed me needing Surgery "ASAP." Thank God my Gut Feeling was to get a second opinion and left two days later to the USA. Took me about one week to see a Surgeon with another MRI and he told me I did not need any surgery at all.  Good luck!!

  7.   I grew up where alcohol was the only drug in the 60's. Most of my career was in the Government where Golden Flow checks were widespread. I saw a lot of folks get caught and lose not only their TS/SCI clearances but their employment. I was rewarded with a Great Career and very nice retirement by not participating. I consider it a career buster and a gateway to higher usage for some. I am sure their will be a few slams on that last sentence-but that is my opinion. Each to his own.
