This is a really good story with a great ending. (I wish they could find it's family and reunite them).

Free and fair election followed by the military in power for another 8 years.
Nothing free and fair about it when they can buy votes without repercussions as Pheu Thai does every election. (I'm talking hard cash into hands for the vote).

@texanaust I sent you a message. Check the top right hand side of an open 'topic' page and click on the envelope. I've recommended a good driver for you. Have a good trip.
OOPS, I didn't realize you're in Phuket.

I've been purchasing my beef online from a local 'market' in Korat. He ships frozen in a 'styrofoam cooler' via a copy that stores the frozen food between shopping points. I've never received anything that has started to thaw, but that from his place in Korat to bangkok and then to my house. I'll bet they have something set-up in pattaya, too.

I don't think anyone below your comment bothered to read it... or they just had to show their "credentials" of ignorance, except for Crossy. I was waiting for his input.
(I wish he'd line up some good certified Thai "sparky's" he would recommend to fix our problems professionally) Hint, Hint

Embassy/Consulate will no longer issue passport linkage letters with newly issued passports
I've been in Thailand for 26 yrs and including one stolen passport and one that got full of stamps (the latest after 'they' decided not to add pages anymore), I've been through 5 passports. I've never used a "linkage letter" to get my info transferred to the new one. I don't see the problem.

PsyOps... perfect. The insurgents in the South will bomb themselves now because they 'saw' women gyrating and humping. ????

Minister Anutin could become the next Thai PM
After all the foreigners on here lambasted Anutin during the past few years, I think it would be a heck of a fate twist. ???? I've got no business commenting on Thai politics and most of you 'folks' don't either. (In fact if some of those politicians read some of those comments, it's no wonder they don't like us or want to do anything that would make the immigration laws easier or better).

Put me on a flat bed so I can roll onto my side. That thing looks like a torture device to where you'd be stuck on your back.

Maybe you should take a little extra time and read the article a little more carefully.

and buy some freaking modern farm equipment.
No need... The farms around me do not burn their stalks, stubble (stems), leaves or seed pods. They flood the fields and then use a paddle and sled type machine to turn everything into the earth. Sometime during all that process they plant more seeds. 4-5 months later they're harvesting another rice crop.
I'm sure a new method could be implemented cheaply for the cane fields, but there has to be a reason for them to change. (severe penalties for not changing)

author of the first Lonely Planet Thailand travel guide
Darn, I thought that author died in a motorcycle accident near Nana (ref. Private Dancer, by Stephen Leather) ???? (terrible book, actually, IMO. I still haven't finished it.)
Glad to know you're better than the guy in that book. ???? -

I cannot get a work permit on the visa I got, but I could on the marriage extension
Yes, a work permit can be obtained when on a Non-O based on marriage. The company I was working for had a person who handled that.
You may extend each permission to stay by 60 days, so you can go 150 days on one exit. It;'s a little tricky at the end if you do the 15 day options because you'll have approximately 65 days left on the Visa. Manage it as you like. I'm going to leave, return and do my 65 days then leave again. Upon reentry (at or near the expiration of the Visa) I'll receive another 90 days permission to stay, which I will extend another 60. Yep, you can get 17 months out of a one year Non-O.
(Up to you, or not)
NOTE: I am considering an Extension based on retirement this year. I love taking a car and driving over to Ban Phu Nam Ron, but they've been closed for a while, which has really messed up my old method. I hopped down to Singapore 2 months ago. I'm not sure where I'll go for my next trip. Plus, the trip to Savannakhet is a arduous journey; although, I might not drive next time. Retirement extension... maybe.

Good luck on your Visa Exempt run. IMO "Border Bounces" are for people who have a Visa but must leave every 90 days. You appear to know the rules, but here's a statement from 'thaiembassy.com', "If entering Thailand by land or sea, eligible travelers holding normal passports will be granted visa-free travel to Thailand twice per calendar year. There is no limitation when entering by air". Something to consider and Airasia to Singapore is not expensive (or wasn't a couple of months ago).
Happy Trails to You
US defence secretary seeks to hearten Nato relations

Trump was not against NATO. His beef was that the US was supporting it and most of the members were not paying the agreed upon share of their GDP's to support it. Germany wasn't even paying near the 2% it was suppose to pay. I don't remember the other's, but he just called them on it. His calling them out actually saved NATO.
