If it is an UK passport -NO PROBLEM . I have just renewed a British passport this week - Collected Wednesday 26th September. As long as you elect to collect the new passport personally , they give you back the old passport -UNCANCELLED , for ID purposes . You must take the old passport back to VFS when collecting the new passport . You hand in the old passport before they hand-over the new passport . They then cut off the corners on the old passport and hand it back together with a letter to immigration asking them to transfer your extension to the new passport . So , get your application in immediately AND elect to go to collect the new one personally .  I was amazed at how short a time it took to get the new passport ONE WEEK  from applying .good luck .

Where did you apply for your passport? I am running out of pages and will need a new one soon. I have extension of stay for retirement purposes on a non o visa.

You will need to formally change your address to Udon at the immigration office there.

You will need a completed TM28 change of address form and a TM30 form from your landlord.

I went with my girlfriend and had to show her Tabien baan and they filled the form out for me ,all I had to do was sign and pay the fine (prap) of 2800 baht which seemed a lot indeed more than the original extension but they told me it was because they had to contact Chon buri Immigration to transfer my details to Udon Immigration and from now on all my 90 day reports will be done in Udon.

I was encouraged to register to do my reports online.

Savannakhet would be the easiest if you could get an income letter from the UK embassy for any amount or source to go along with the 800k baht in the bank. You can get the income letter by mail. See: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-obtain-a-pensionincome-letter-for-thai-immigration

Otherwise you could get a police certificate to satisfy Vientiane. Info here for getting one. http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/ You can get one by using an agent as well (click the button that says "By Out Source" on the left side of the page). Or you could get one while in the UK see http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx . Then get a medical certificate from any clinic here.

I assume you want to get the Non Imm O for the purpose of obtaining an extension of stay based on retirement.

The process is to convert your TV to a Non Imm O at Immigration which they will only do as a prelude to applying for the extension.

It sounds as though you've twice started this process at Udon, then not proceeded with the extension.

Naturally they feel you've wasted their time and tried to circumvent the system, so you've burnt your bridges there.

One option is to do the conversion at Bangkok, but you'll need a Bangkok address while it's processed.

Once you have the extension you can return to Udon but will have to file a formal change of address in order to make your 90 day reports there.

If I were to apply to change my tourist visa in Pattaya. How long does the contract for accommodation need to be. Previously I asked at Jomtien and they told me 1 month contract would not suffice.

The Police clearance in Bangkok may also be an option. Can I just walk in and apply?

If you are getting a state pension you get a single or multiple entry non-o visa from the embassy in London. If not perhaps you could apply for a OA long stay visa, The OA visa allow unlimited one year entries for a year from the date of issue. You would need a police clearance and a medical certificate plus financial proof.

To apply for a single entry  non-o in Vientiane you will need a police clearance and a medical certificate that you can get here. It takes as much as the 30 days  to get the police clearance in Bangkok.

You could get the non-o visa in Savannakhet. If using the money in the bank option you will need proof you are retired which can be a income letter from the UK embassy. If you can prove a income of at least 65k baht you would only need a bank book showing a small amount of funds in the bank along with income letter.

I have 1.2 million baht in a Thai account and am 50 years old. I previously converted my Tourist visa to a Non O in Udon but that option in Udon is not really viable anymore. I will soon return on a Tourist visa which I received today from London.

I just need to find out the best and easiest way to get a Non immigrant O . Previously all I needed was 800000 baht in a Thai account and a letter from the Bank.

  5. I have successfully applied for and received 2 non O visas for retirement purposes in Udon. However due to indecision and personal problems I have left Thailand with the view to going back to work in the UK before making the 12 month extension.

I know I have been foolish not only once but twice and now need to know how to obtain a further Non O for retirement purposes. I can not return to Udon  Immigration as they were not best pleased last time.

My thoughts are going to Laos Vientiane but am confused about the requirements. Where do I get a Thai Police clearance certificate?

  6. Go to the Thai Immigration website and you can download the form required and you will get confirmation of what Ubonjoe and others have said.

The fee is 2000 baht and for me when I did the conversion in Udon was a relatively smooth and easy process . If you meet all the requirements I would strongly advise you not to use an agent but to do it yourself.

The reason will be retirement and they actually wrote this by hand in my passport in Thai on the change of visa stamp and the newly issued non o.

    Good luck.

  7. I went to Udon Immigration today and submitted my application to change my tourist visa to a non o for retirement purposes.

I was advised to apply in Udon by Immigration in both Bangkok and Pattaya as Udon is where I live most of the time.

It all went smoothly and I have a date to return in a couple of weeks time to have the visa change stamped in my passport.

So just to confirm it can be done in Udon.

    I found these 2 numbers. 042 24 6804 or 042 93 1687

    Also these on immigration website. 0 4224 9982 - 3

    Email: [email protected]

I have tried all of these and each time get a fax machine type noise. before I had no problem calling them but am in disparate as I am in Pattaya  and need to know for sure if I can convert my tourist visa to a non o  in udon or not. if not I will have to stay in Pattaya and get a rental contract for 1 month to be able to convert the visa.

I think the two offices (or officers) assumed they could do them.

If Udon could accept them they would be sent to immigration division 4 in Korat for a approval.

People have asked at Udon about doing the change but were told to go to Vientiane for a non-o visa or Bangkok to do the change.

Perhaps you should contact Udon directly and ask them.

We have emailed udon with the email address that you gave me in another post and will phone them with the number you listed. thanks for

  10. I need to convert my tourist  visa to a non o for retirement purposes. I was told in person by bangkok immigration and also Jomtien that as my girlfriends house is in udon and mostly we live there that we should apply for the change in udon.

I know people  have said here that udon do not do the conversion but if that is so why did 2 immigration offices say to do from there ?

Maybe udon accept the application  and forward to bangkok the same as Jomtien.

Perhaps you talked to the wrong person that told you that. Perhaps ask again and ask to speak to a supervisor if you get the same answer.

It has been immigration policy for many years that if your local office cannot do the change Bangkok is where you have to do it.

I think it would be easier and cheaper to rent a condo in Pattaya and change the visa there.

  12. I have just got back from Immigration at Chaengwattana as I went there to hear from the horses mouth what I needed for a change of visa status tourist to Non Immigrant for retirement purposes.

I live with my girlfriend in Udon and have been led to believe I could not change the visa there. I went to Chaengwattana and they told me I could only do the change if I lived in Bangkok and had rental proof. I told them I lived in Udon and they said then you must do it there.
