Don't you have a large water tank a few metres above ground? The pump fills it so then you rely on gravity feed.
No , our tank is ground level and the pump is after the tank.

At least in the UK I did not need a 2500 litre water tank to be able to shower , do washing ,wash dishes and water the garden .
Everyday here in the village in Issan there is no water supply . All the other neighbours just seem to accept that there is no water at certain points of the day.
Only problem is when we have one of the frequent power cuts the pump will not run and therefore no water!

Sitting here drinking my cold leos and it is a nice cool temperature , however the neighbours are burning plastic and it really is a downer! Fuc#in in stinks !
Just tellin the truth! Real life in an Issan village.
It is too much now and have to go indoors. I miss those clean air days in rural UK.

Pour souls. Though I used to love the snow as a kid in the countryside, sledging down the hills with the feet as brakes. Not so much fun in the city , especially when it turns to slush. And terrible for the old folks.
Still, i would like to enjoy one snowfall before my curtain comes down. That magic of waking up in the morning, drawing back the curtains and there you are!
When I lived in the UK I used to love standing at the window next to the radiator and looking at the snow.

Tell that to my Thai family and in laws. None of us use air-.con, never have.
Many Thai simply can not afford to use air con as the electricity bill is to expensive.
Fans are ok at this time of year but in the summer they are next to useless.

You don't need air-con except in the summer, even then a couple of powerful fans will do nicely if you position them right.
Very pleasant weather in Udon tonight.
When I finish my beer in Udon tonight I will go to bed knowing the air con is already on !

Not used air-con last month or this, I probably average 200bht/month over the year.
Got my pickup taxed, checked and insured last week, 2,465bht, that's about the price of the MOT in the UK.
Are you sure that is for insurance? That is the price for road tax only !

In the US, Florida , me, my wife and 24 year old daughter have three cars, none of as has any tickets or accidents.
We pay a litle over $500 (15,000 bht ) per month. and have a $500 deductible.
Good car insurance in Thailand is expensive as the accident rate is so high!

I managed to see these live at "home " at the Subterranean Ladbroke grove just after I got back
I first saw Killing Joke when I was 14 ,38 years ago , at the UEA back in the day when Jaz played keyboards aswell as vocals. Saw them another couple of times within the space of a year and can say one of those gigs was louder than when I saw Motorhead !
I saw them again in 1990 but have not seen them since. Hope they play Rebellion next year as I have a ticket for the gig and the plane from BKK to Uk.

Well my car insurance was 17 000 baht for first class. I do not know what insurance you could get for that price ?
We use air con a lot ,just the same as in the UK I will put on the heating when I feel a bit cold.
I do not like to scrimp and save and pretend I have acclimatised !

I just paid 275bht for 1Kg American yellow cheddar.
Last month 210bht for 1Kg Danish blue, and 275bht for 1Kg of mature Aussie Cheddar.
I've saved that just on buying 3 bottles of spirits in Thailand, then add the savings by not paying council tax, heating bills, overly expensive accommodation fees, car insurance, MOT, road tax ...... etc.
Not paying council tax is a big saving but my air con electricity bills per month are more here than my heating and electric in the UK.
My car road tax is about the same here for the new car I have and the insurance here is more expensive. Car service in UK is free on new cars but not here. However petrol is cheaper.
I love Thailand ,but also disslike a lot of things about it. I love the UK but also disslike a lot about it.
Looking forward to going back to the UK next month and seeing UK Subs and 999 in concert ! Then again in March returning to see Stiff Little Fingers and Cock Sparrer in concert.
However here I can sup on my cold beer outside every evening ! Maybee Thailand wins after all 555.

Agreed dairy products are generally more expensive in Thailand because they're foreign imports.
But what I save on not paying council tax in the UK, makes up for any and all foreign imported food in Thailand.
Milk is produced here in Thailand and is not a foreign import. However it is 2.5 x more expensive.

supermarkets in the west are generally aimed at the poor.
supermarkets in Asia are generally aimed at the wealthy.
I always wonder at the foreigners shopping in Thai supermarkets that don't understand they are paying premium prices for almost everything. I guess you can't fix stupid!
I pay 150bht for a 70cl bottle of Vodka in Thailand, Tesco UK it's 11 quid (2.5x).
10bht for 4 large bell peppers at my local Thai market, in Tesco UK at least a pound (4x).
How are these UK prices cheaper?
A 4 pint bottle of milk in the UK is a quid ,here it is about 95 baht which is 2.5 x more.
I can buy a big bag of carrots for the price of 4 single carrots here.
Cheese is about 3 times the price here than in the UK.
A case of 20 440 ml cans of beer can be bought for 11 quid.
Potatoes I can buy at the farm shop by the hundred weight. Here much more expensive.
Yes of course their are many things here that are cheaper here but from experience doing a weekly shop in Aldi (not Tesco) I have found I spend less than I do in Thailand.

That goes without saying. Why on earth would a young, bright woman in the UK wake up one morning and think I'll go and live in Thailand. She would need sectioning.
Most of the Thai people that knew my wife when we were married for 22 years much prefered the climate in the UK to that of Thailand.
Us farang seem to think the weather is great but we dont have to work in it.

Food and beer prices are now more expensive than in Thailand. When I go back to the UK and go shopping at Aldi you can really do a good weekly shop for less than it would cost here at Macro.
I do miss the cooler weather ,I have all day all week to exercise ,do gym stuff ,however here it is so hot and I just cant be arsed with exercising.
Back in the UK even on dull cold days I am able to go out for a walk and have more enthusiasm. Here I just feel like drinking cold beer 555.
Now my Mother is on her own I do intend going back and spending much more time with her. I do not want to regret not being there for her .
Have seriously thought after getting next years 12 month extention sending my money back and in future coming for shorter periods on tourist visas.

Some Thai's just prefer to grow up around thai friends, grandparent's, relatives, both at school and near home. Some thai kids just enjoy mixing with their own rather than foreign kids. As a kid, I wouldn't have wanted to move to a foreign place that's for sure. It's just an important issue that I think is priority over health or education because if the kids are not happy they won't care about education or health care.
My step daughter moved go the UK at twelve years old and finshed up going to University and getting a degree.
She is very happy here with a good job,her own home and says she would never want to go back and live and work in Thailand.

Sorry, you assume wrong.
If you are staying at a location that will not be submitting a TM30 on your behalf, you need to do it within 24 hours of arriving at the address.
Again this depends on which Immigration office you use. I always go to Udon office to report my return and everytime they tell me as long as you are returning to the same address you do not need to report your return.
I will still do it though as you never know when they might start enforcing it there.

No a gravity feed would not have enough pressure to supply the water to the our beauty salon which is fed from the same tank.
