Immigration never wants to see the original house book. A copy of the printout will be accepted.
The only reason immigration in Bangkok would want to see proof of address is to confirm you are living where there is no office that can do the change.
You can get the letter from the bank and copies of your updated bank book on the ground floor of Chaeng Wattana immigration. Most banks have branches there.
You go to this office. http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/location1.html
So will I need to have proof of address in Udon ?

I suggest she go to a Amphoe and ask for a print out of her house book registry. She should be able to get one by showing her ID card. Immigration will accept that in lieu of a copy of the house book.
Another option you have is to apply for the change of visa status in Bangkok by showing your address in Udon. Do not make any mention of staying in Pattaya. They are lot friendlier about issuing the visa than Jomtien.
At this time I cannot recommend going to Vientiane for the non-o visa for being 50 or over. There have been a couple of recent reports of them insisting that a medical certificate and a police clearance certificate.
I think I will apply for the change of visa at Bangkok. I have read on the Immigration website that I will need to fill out a TN86 form for change of status and photo copies of my passport personal information page, last entry stamp, visa sticker and departure card. All copies signed.
It also states a guarantee letter from the bank and copies of all transactions and evidence of foreign transfer of 800000 baht.
Along with this a fee of 2000 baht.
I can not see that they are asking for proof of address other than signing the application form with the Thai address that I will be staying at.
Also which address should I go to. I see there are a few. There is 18th floor Cham Churi Square Building.Phayathai Road,Pathumwan and there is the B Building, floor 2 (south zone) Chaengwattana Road (soi7). Laski.

So if I apply for the change of visa status in Bangkok will I need to have the original house book registry (tabien baan) of my girlfriend or will the print out that you mentioned be ok? As we will be in Pattaya for a month before we return to living in Udon where is the Amphoe that you mention to get a print out of the house book registry?

All that is needed is a copy of the house book registry. That would be page 1 and the page she is registered on of the house book. It would be good to have copies of the condo owners house book and ID card also in case thew want it.
Udon immigration cannot do the change to a non immigrant visa.
Unfortunately we will not be able to get the girlfriends house book registry copies as it is locked away in the house in Udon. I will have to go with the original plan of going to Laos,Vientienne for the non immigrant visa.
Could you please confirm what I would need to take with me to obtain a non Immigrant visa from Laos.
Thanks.

No problem to get the single entry tourist visa. They would of even issued another METV if you wanted one.
You can apply for the change of visa status to get the non immigrant visa at any time during the 60 day entry from the tourist visa up to the last 15 days of it or the 30 day extension of it on or after your birthday.
Hours was a typo. It should of been hosue book registry.
I now have my SETV and would like to convert this to a non immigrant at Jomtien if possible. I will have the money in the bank and my girlfriend will go with me and provide a copy of her rental agreement and write a statement stating I am living with her.
You mention the house book registry, do you mean my girlfriends tabien baan or the condo owners ?. I spoke with her and she says it is in Udon as it has to stay at the house.
We return to Udon in April and am not sure if I can convert the tourist visa to a non immigrant at Udon ? I would prefer to do it in Pattaya as soon as possible but am unsure if I would have correct documents without the tabien baan.

that's not quite correct
animal is the classifier but you don't say 'animal dog' but 'dog one animal' (sunak nung tua) but let's not derail the thread into a Thai lesson :)
The word for animal is sat and is not a classifier. Tua or doua is indeed the classifier used in this instance and can be used for people ,animals ,insects and many other things.
Maa tua nung would more commonly be used as sunak is not colloquial.

I have just applied for a SETV in London and the form asked for proposed date of entry into Thailand not a definite date.

I think there will always be corruption when it is coming from both sides. I recently spent a while in Pattaya and spoke with a dozen or so farangs who were all staying on permission to stay for retirement purposes. Not one of them met the required specifications and were all here by using an agent to obtain the extension from a dodgy contact in the bank and the Immigration dept.

I have sent my passport off to London for a single entry tourist visa and am hoping it will be issued as I have only been back in the UK for a few days after spending all but 2 weeks in Thailand since the beginning of July 2016 on a METV.
I will be 50 mid March and would like to convert my tourist visa to a non O as soon as possible. I did not realise I could convert to this at Jomtien. This would be far easier and cheaper than going to Laos.
My girlfriend has a rental agreement for the place and has a contract. What is an hours book registry.

So after being in Thailand since July 2016 on an METV. I am now back in the UK as from a few days ago. I am now applying for a SETV by post at the London Embassy and will then need to convert this to a non 0 in Laos.
I had 800000 in a Thai bank but hastily transferred it back to the UK. I plan on doing things above board and having the money in a Thai bank account and not using an agent.
What do I need to apply for the non 0 in Laos ? Does the money need to be in my Thai bank account when I apply and does it have to be in there for 2 months before ? Do I need proof of accommodation ? If so what ? I had been living with my girlfriend at her home in Udon but now she has rented a condo in Pattaya in her name.
Thanks.

Is it possible to convert a visa exempt or a tourist visa to a non Immigrant visa in Udon Thani ? I would then like to convert this to an extension to stay for retirement purposes.
-
I am now in Pattaya and have spoken with about half a dozen people within the same condo about extension for retirement and am rather surprised that every one of them used an agent and have very little in a Thai bank account.
It seems that it really is common practice to have an agent do a dodgy deal with Immigration.

I recommend Hull for their helpful and quick service.

Hull were very helpful. They answer the phone and when I went there for a METV I was given help with the form and it was all sorted in about 45 minutes.

Earlier this year I went to Udon to get a 30 day extension and they completed the form for me and took photos using there own cam. They made all copies necessary and charged me 2000 baht. All I had to do was sign the form and provide the info where I was staying.
For only 100 baht extra I did not complain.

Others too.
Is it available in Penang ? I am currently looking at the Penang website but having no luck finding the visa section.

Thanks for all the replies so far.
Is a Non o visa only available from Laos or is it available from other countries close to Thailand ?
-
I entered Thailand again on 11th December (My visa last entry before date is 29th Dec 2016)and the 60 days take me to 8th Feb and then another 30 extension take me to 10th March.
I would like to get the leave to remain in the country for retirement purposes as soon as possible so that I can visit elderly parents in the UK again.
Does a Tourist visa need to be converted to a non - o and then converted to 1 year retirement extension or can I convert straight from Tourist visa?
-
I am currently here on a METV which after the last 30 day extension will take me up until 10th March 2017. I am not 50 until 15th March and wondered what my options are ?
I am living near Udon.

My Thai girlfriend will be going with me. She has a passport but seems to think she will have to fill out paperwork in Thailand before we cross the bridge into Laos.
-
I am here on an METV and soon will have to leave Thailand and re enter. I live in Udon and have a family member who will drive me to the bridge at Nong Khai. When I arrive at the bridge is there a bus or taxi service that I can use to cross the bridge and enter Laos?

I am from the uk so it is 35 dollars not much different from 1500 baht
Address reporting
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I will arrive in Bangkok next week on a tourist visa. I will put the Bangkok hotel address on my landing card. 2 days later I will go to Pattaya where I will stay for 3 weeks. I will also in this time be appyling to change my visa status to non immigrant for retirement purposes. The address I will be putting on the form for this will be my permanent residence in Udon.
I am confused as to whether I need to report this all to Immigration.
