It wasn't so long ago that it was reported insurance companies requested they be allowed to cancel covid policies because they had already paid-out I think it was 38m Baht and only had about 100m Baht left in the kitty.
So, what was the pm's answer? Does the current situation hold any clues? I wonder.

Do the sensible thing - Open up the borders, let the party begin and stuff the covid! It'll only beat you if you let it!
More deaths on the roads in 1 year than deaths from covid in 2 years!

How about a crackdown on crackdowns that don't crack anything.

He recommended putting on a coat if you're cold or doing some exercise.
I do exercise at home, but would love to get out of the village without the motorcycle or car.
If the good doctor could recommend how to avoid the soi dogs, I could interact more with the local community.

Prime minister urges Thais to make more holiday trips in aid of economy
All that's going to do is generate more tax revenue for the government with money already in Thailand.
What's needed isn't going to happen. Until tourists feel that they can enter Thailand without the worry of unexpected quarantine, they'll just go elsewhere; just like some expats have already done.

If you go to Naklua with a flight ticket, you'll get the vaccine book the next day.

But, there would still be the risk of a positive test, or sitting next to somebody on the plane or in a taxi that has tested positive.
Most tourists don't understand the possible implications; they're like lambs to the slaughter.

Because Covid is an issue in rural areas? I don't live in Bangkok but hard to believe they take it as serious as rural Thailand. It is extremely rare to see Thais not wearing a mask in groups in all the places I've been. You can drive down a road and see what you want and not sure which one of us is delusional. We see what we want to see is what this pandemic has taught me.
You either need to get out more, or your lucky to live where you do.

The wearing of masks seems only to be policed (Pun) in Bangkok and the other tourist areas. Yet, only a few kms outside these areas, it's quite obvious that the usual percentage of Thais think laws don't really apply to them. I suspect that the real risk to covid spreading is in these outlying areas.
If this mask rule is going to work, perhaps it would be a good idea to include everybody.

actually he is correct in that every child should learn to swim, it should be mandatory .... as for the language I have always said schools MUST make english a requirement. A child that can speak English has a far better opportunity to travel and advance in life through career prospects, than one that can't.
I think the second language he was referring to is Chinese.

Only sex education!
How about a completely new education system. It'll take 50 years to filter out all the dross, so better start now.

Yes, mandatory mask wearing. However, in my village, I'm the only person wearing a mask outside a property, but then, I'm a foreigner, abiding by the rules of the host country.

The 1,534 might have been transit passengers! Who knows!

Neither reminders nor orders have worked in the past! So, how on earth is it going to work now!

The article reminded me of the 70s. But, it was more like, "Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow" then!
It's so difficult to enjoy life now!

Open a country with many schools still closed and add insult to injury by continuing to deny the livelihoods of those running small businesses, bars/pubs to earn a living.
It was announced that the 500 Baht entry fee will be used to help businesses that have suffered due to Covid-19. But of course, "......small businesses, bars/pubs....." will be at the bottom of the list, probably just below soi dogs.

Death among motorcyclists is also as a result of lack of helmet wearing, riding while drunk and poor riding standards, of course. Not to mention lack of enforcement by the police and riding by young, untrained teens contrary to the law.
Paragraph #23, above, is the only one that avoids all the bulls**t! The first 22 were just the introduction to the truth.

- Have written/electronic confirmation of hotel bookings in Thailand.
So, if a tourist is booked into a hotel on day 1, and gets a positive pcr test, does that mean that everybody in the hotel will have to quarantine for 14 days?
A recipe for disaster! But, what else is new!

Well, it had to happen!
First, introducing a 500 Baht tax to enter Thailand, which allegedly will be used to compensate businesses that have suffered due to the pandemic. Now, stipulating that all O-A applicants must have an insurance policy covering 3M Baht for inpatient treatment, which allegedly is to ensure proper medical treatment in case they fall ill. The latest criteria is being contactable for the first day until the rt-pcr test result is available. Imagine a family of four who test positive, and are told they have to quarantine for 14 days at their own expense, and it will happen. Most other countries in the world have also suffered, but haven't introduced draconian entry requirements; they are just too happy that tourists still want to come.
Why don't they just announce that foreigners who don't own a villa in at least 5 countries, have a garage with a different car for every day of the week, and their own private jet, are not welcome here!
The damage has already been done. Fifty million tourists who have saved for their annual visit to Thailand will be better than two million "Well Healed" tourists whose visits to the tourists areas won't be at the top of the agenda.
What's next! Who knows!

I renewed my passport whilst stuck in The UK last year. At that time, there was no option for a visit to the passport office, only by post; no doubt due to the covid situation.
I suggest you check before you go because 3 weeks probably won't be long enough for a postal application.

Campaign needed to educate Thai drivers about stopping at red traffic lights
in Bangkok News
Posted
Let's start with stopping the young kids riding motorcycles, stop teenagers riding motorcycles with wheels as thin as a condom packet and make all adults learn to drive with a government approved driving school.
The only worrying thing is, who the hell is going to train the driving instructors!
