Trump Tariffs Threaten Samui's Tourist Influx
RandolphGB replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Perhaps she should stick to promoting Pad Thai and elephant pants instead of commenting on the economics of global trade. -
Thailand Urged to Form ‘War Room’ in Response to US Tariffs

These corrupt b******s have been lining their pockets with taxes on American goods for years, now they cry when their rice and coconut milk is whacked with similar fees. They deserve ruin. -

Those tattoos are horrific. Looks like a cheap Nana Plaza dancer. As for the contact lenses.. Thais really have no idea about beauty or style. -
Thai Govt Frets as Uyghur Issue Jolts EU Trade Talks
RandolphGB replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand took cash from Japan for them to build the Death Railway while smiling to the West, lined their pockets with money from the Americans to aid their slaughter of innocent North Vietnamese, helped the Khmer Rouge commit genocide then stole international aid intended to rebuild Cambodia, sold arms and loans the Burmese junta... who knows what else. Selling a few Uyghur down the river is nothing new for what is the most duplicitous, two-faced, morally empty, avaricious country on the planet. -
Pattaya Awaits Decision on Fate of Controversial Waterfront Condo
RandolphGB replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
The only kind of demolition possible for that building is top-down deconstruction. Basically engineers working from the top floor to break down the building piece-by-piece, floor by floor. It doesn't look sturdy or safe enough to get large machinery on top and there would need to be a supporting structure built around it. Thai companies do not have this kind of expertise. It would require a Japanese firm, or at the very least, extensive consultation and a partnership with a Japanese engineering company. The costs would be astronomical and with the amount of scrutiny now involved, no kickbacks for any Thais in positions of authority. In conclusion, nothing is going to happen.- 63 replies

Bangkok's Free Transport Initiative Sparks Criticism Amidst Haze Crisis

It's a shame they didn't elect him. Oh, wait.... they did. It's actually pretty surreal that the election was stolen, a convicted fraudster was able to return from exile and assume power, before legalising casinos to make himself even richer. All done in plain sight without anyone being bothered. -
Bangkok's Free Transport Initiative Sparks Criticism Amidst Haze Crisis

Thais: 'Stop the air pollution!!!' Sensible people: Ok, sure, stop fueling the food demand by constantly adding sugar to meals, drinking bubble tea, eating sweets, ice creams and endless processed stuff from 7-Eleven. Oh, and also pay higher taxes and prices for food to enforce laws and subsidize farmers who will lose out with less profitable but cleaner methods of crop rotation. While you're at it, establish a political union with the poorer neighbouring countries to subsidize their farmers to do the same. Thais: .......*silence* ....*looks confused*.... *grunts*... 'Stupid farang!' -
Anutin Orders Stricter Measures to Curb Burning and Reduce PM 2.5

Here comes that 'law and enforcement' again. Just like helmets, street food carts, noise pollution, street prostitution, smoking cannabis on the street are all enforced. -
Minister launches emergency plan as deadly dust chokes Thailand
RandolphGB replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Nobody will admit the real cause - a selfish, ignorant, lazy, vain, low IQ people, who are more concerned with money than their own health and the health of others. The government does not want to fix the air pollution, the farmers, small scale land owners, the every-day residents burning their home and garden waste, the street food vendors belching out clouds of smoke from barbecues, do not care to fix it. None of them want to fix it because fixing it would seriously harm their own pocket. Most of all, it would take effort, evolution and change. Further, the government would have to decimate the agricultural industry and spend vast sums putting in waste collection systems across the country. They'd have to pass laws and enforce laws. That costs a lot. It's a lot of effort. It's not ever going to happen. Thais are as corrupt as they come - they see money, they keep for themselves. They don't think 'let's improve the country'. It's impossible to teach a pig to read. You will never civilize and develop this country. -

Does anybody have experience of where to find a tradesman for condo repairs / redecoration and renovation in Bangkok? It seems the market is very fragmented and mostly independent Thai guys or large companies that only take on big projects. I'm looking for basic things like new kitchen, new bathroom and redecoration. Not a full-on renovation from the empty shell. Can someone who has experience of this advise? Is it better to use one company that can do all of the tasks or find individual tradesmen for each speciality?

Bangkok Braces for Rising PM2.5 Levels Amid Cool Weather

I live here for work. Unlike people like you who came here because they can't get laid at home. I don't drink and I've worked with more Thai people in a year than you will meet in your whole life. -
Bangkok Braces for Rising PM2.5 Levels Amid Cool Weather

This exactly. The goons in charge are the Thai people and the Thai people are the goons in charge. Nothing will evolve because it is, and always has been, a nation of low IQ people beset with laziness, greed, vanity and selfishness. -
Bangkok Governor Supports Congestion Charge to Curb Traffic
RandolphGB replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The difference is that London and Singapore have people with an IQ above 60 managing the roads. Thailand is a country that can't even stop motorcycles from riding wherever they want to or keep food stall away from blocking pavements. They will never be able to introduce the level of technology needed to enforce a congestion charge. -
New Bangkok Rules Limit Street Vendors to Designated Zones
RandolphGB replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It would be nice if these laws were enforced, but they won't be. Street food stalls add to traffic congestion, create safety risks for drivers and pedestrians, damage pavements, add to pollution in the drains, spread unhygienic food, are untaxed and other issues.
