    Thonglor Pet Hospital

    It's private and expensive

True.  Also, one needs to be aware that it has a number of branches.  In my experience, the branches are not all as well equipped or staffed as the main branch.  Specialists may only be available a couple of days a week.  Whilst one branch is close to where I live, I've stopped using it and now go to a couple of vets quite a bit further away.

  2. One of the most highly regarded vets for dogs is Supasek Sarachitti at Crystal Pet Hospital.  (He's its owner.)

Appointments are not available - you have to turn up and wait.  (I've never had to wait more than an hour and a half.)  I think his normal working hours are from 2 p.m..  You'd have to 'phone them, however, to check whether he's working or not.

The hospital is not easy to find.  It's in the backstreets to the north of Crystal Design Center (CDC).

Unless the government introduces some sort of rebate system, everyone will end up paying 1,000 baht - everyone pays 700 baht now (I think the domestic PSC is 100 baht). This includes thai citizens.

Nonsense.  This isn't the airport Passenger Service Charge, it's a new tax solely upon foreigners.  Airlines are expected to add 300 baht to airline tickets of non-Thais - something that's pretty straightforward since airlines already gather passenger passport information.

    But ..

"The new THB 300 charge will be incorporated into airfares, government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said in a statement."

That's only part of the story.

From the article linked to in the original post, "In addition, there are still question marks about how the fee will be collected from tourists who arrive in Thailand via a land border, with the Tourism Ministry still to determine the collection method for people arriving overland."

Here is an interesting article with more than anyone wants to know about vitamin D.

"Dovepress" is a pay-to-be-published site, with pretty much zero scientific credibility.

The article you link to, according to that site, is described as "Review by Single anonymous peer review" - hardly an indication of a quality publication.

The editor who apparently approved it is an eye doctor, so has pretty much zero expertise in this area.

The corresponding author uses a hotmail email address, which is hardly reassuring.

In short:  rather than being "an interesting article", it's not worth reading.

  6. If looking to draw up a shortlist, I'd suggest start looking at the holdings of funds here such as K-PROPI, TMBPIPF, SCBPINA.  One would like to think that the fund managers have chosen sensibly.  (Note that the holdings for these are not all in Thailand.)

I saw this one a while ago, quite original and well executed. Of course, loved the shocked faces of the audience

Uh, you do realise that the audience is actors? Pretty sure they weren't shocked, but rather paid to look so.

And the only thing that came close to being "well executed" is the poor cellos, and in particular their bows which are nigh on massacred.

    CHOPIN

Reminds me of Emperor Joseph II's comment to Mozart about The Marriage of Figaro, "too many notes".

(Another peeve about Chopin is his obsession with key signatures with large numbers of sharps or flats, making stuff that much more difficult to play.  In the example above, the key signature (C# minor) as four sharps.  It could just as easily have been written in A minor, with no key signature.)
