Way too many Walter Mittys here, both online and offline. Another true story (no really), I was once drinking in Patpong in the mid-2000s with an old member that no longer posts here (hi elsie). It was something like 04:00 HRS. We stumbled into one bar and wound up sat next to a European that claimed to work for the Singha beer company and he said he was at work right now. His role is just just drink in bars and monitor the quality of the beer. . . Now, when I post it here, it sounds like he was joking, but he was completely serious. I could tell you all kinds of stories like this, and it's one of the reasons I avoid foreigners in Thailand. Bangkok is a different matter these days, there are many foreign professionals in the city and the pretenders are easy to spot.
i actually know you are not kidding because i have a really good friend in Penang who does the same job but for carlsberg.
his job is literally to make sure everyone is having a good time and help the bars sell more (carlsberg obviously) beer. he has this pass that gets him free beer in any bar in penang that is supplied by carlsberg and he's expected to sample, entertain and advise. literally a professional party pass lol.
back in the day when the visa run to penang was very much a part of life here we had some very wild afternoons and nights with him and his friends.
good times.

i left school at 16 and worked as a broker in the city of london for a couple of years. but i just didn't see the point, i had all this money and no time to spend it. meanwhile my friends didn't have a pot to <deleted> in but all the time in the world.
to me that seemed wrong and a waste.
so much to my parents horror i took my 4th summer off, bought a flat at the seaside and jacked it all in! and i've never worked for anyone else since.
it was the best god damn thing i ever did. that little property was the seed that flourished into 30 years of hedonism for me and still going strong.

QuoteA Thai man cut off his penis with a pair of scissors during a frightening cannabis-induced psychotic episode.
The life-changing injury occurred after the unidentified 23-year-old smoked 2g of marijuana – the equivalent of six joints – in two bong rips.
Prior to his self-amputation, the man had quit using cannabis use for three months after being a frequent user for two years.
Two hours after smoking the drug for the first time in months, he began to have a painful erection unrelated to any sexual stimulation, which can be a side-effect of smoking cannabis.
During his hallucination, the man grew paranoid that the head of his penis looked 'distorted' while examining himself to identify the source of the pain.
In an attempt to eradicate the problem, the man decided to use a pair of scissors to 'trim' the skin of his penis before amputating it completely, leaving a 2cm stump and a 5cm laceration in his scrotum.
drugs are bad 'mmkay... ????????✂️????????

These people have mostly gotten their wealth from sheer hard work, and being savvy about the World in general.
They will not want to put all their hard work at risk with an Investment that could highly likely turn very sour very quickly, in a Country run by Tin Pot Soldiers with little or no idea about the needs of Investors.
Dream on Prayut, and the rest of the rabble. When you can run your Country like professionals, then maybe try to entice the people you seek.
If you can prove your ability to run the Country well, the Investors will naturally come, and with them, their Money, which, when all is said and done, is the only reason you seek these people in the first place.
not to mention, even if the country was stable and well run, you can get a PASSPORT from some nice caribbean islands for HALF what they want you to invest here. own as much land as you want, and pay 0% tax with no need for work permits!!

The number I can recall mentioned is 478 baht per month. They will debit your bank account for the payments.
if you don't mind me asking how many months do you have to be working (paying in) before you can stop work and carry on with the scheme?

the first question you would expect a competent government (who is serious about legalisation) to ask is "how do other countries such as canada and germany get around their commitments to these UN treaties?"
if they are not asking this question and/or having a team of lawyers crawl over the answers/edicts then we can safely assume they are one of two things:
1) not serious
2) incompetent
i'm going with option one, not serious. this is all political theatre with the aim of fulfilling anutin's election commitment without actually fulfilling it. because without him, and thamannat and prayut both dead in the water they are TOAST at the next election

what i don't understand is why thailand tightens its policy when numbers are high in country and loosens when the numbers go down!
shouldn't that be the other way around? i mean keep covid out when thailand is very low on cases not let them flood in.. and vice versa lol
or maybe this whole policy is nothing to do with health at all and more about optics.. ????

I normally make the non o visa because of being married, now I'm on covoid extensions, I assume we will be ok to continue on covoid extension untill the borders open and we can obtain another non o visa , always baffles me why we have to border hop every 90 days though instead of going to Thai immigration and paying them every 90 days, Thailand must lose out on lots of extra income not doing that
if you could go to immigration to extend a non-o every 90 days why would anyone bother with a full extension, intrusive interview, 2 folders of documents and putting money in the bank!!

I wouldn't call cannabis harmless. It's habit forming. It makes the user lazy and therefore affects their families. Some users develop psychosis, schizophrenia and other nasties.
yes some do..
most turn into really nice, chilled people to hang out with.
thats my experience anyway.
so much nicer than the average sexpat alcoholic monger who hasn't showered for 3 days ????
