so you are saying that if you take an average beach city with average beach and get rid of the sleaze.. the rich will flock there?! hmmmm..
maybe they not so crazy after all ????

if they really want rid of the bar scene then go after the supply.. it could be done today, with the stroke of a pen.
all bar licenses revoked, no new licenses to be granted.
much more efficient than trying to tamp down demand with endless hoops that upsets every tourist who wants to come here.
lets see if they have the balls..
(they don't)

and the people who voted for them.

This is an improvement but won't satisfy those who want the pre-COVID "experience"*.
COVID $100,000 insurance? CoE?
they already have a system for that.. COE
which will likely now just require upfront payment for the pcr test, 1 nights ASQ and insurance (in case you test positive).
so same old same old.
its a step in the right direction, but not much of one unfortunately and i think unlikely to move the needle much.

Thailand v Singapore!
That's like Zimbabwe v Monaco. Talk about delusional.i like KL too, it's a much nicer, more modern city than bangers + can party all night too if thats your thing.
if i was still a businessman i'd be there or singapore for sure - my "serious" friends live and do business there & i've visited them many times. always shown a good time. far better than a cringey tour around lower suk, brushing off freelancers all night.
thailands only positive over those 2 cities is the visas are easier and its cheaper..
but you do get what you pay for.

The UK and the US are high risk but also qualify because of the number of vaccinations done in those nations.
bull <deleted> - this is just an excuse not to shut out major tourist sources.
even if only 1% of the population were vaccinated you still can't enter thailand without being vaccinated.

once the locals start moving around then the real trouble will start. double tested, vaxxed & tracked foreigners will be the last of their problems.

The only way he could have a non-o visa would be if he left and re-entered the country with a non-o visa.
As said it is not possible to change non immigrant visa categories within the country.
The immigration order only states a non immigrant visa is needed the extension application based upon marriage.
Same about all extension applications. Not needed for a extension of tourist visa or visa exempt entry and few others that do not require any specific visa type.
so in this case the extension based on marriage to the original non-ed was valid?
that would mean he paid the 20k bribe last year for the IO just to do his job.
oops.

You didn't change anything, you are still on a non-ed visa, you just applied for an extension based on marriage.
So last year you paid 20k for the marriage extension, this year you want to do the same, so the IO expects the same 20k.
thats what this is about.
to the OP do you now have a non-o visa in your passport?

my reasons:
1) would rather be hot in a £200K villa than cold in £1M UK one (like for like)
2) kids will grow up with way more opportunities (class wise) than being bullied back home by chavs
3) prefer to pay no global tax but "go private" than pay big tax and "go public" (schools, healthcare, etc)
i actually love it here, great family, top weather, easy system, easy life.
thailand has been very good to us both emotionally and financially. and the longer we live here the more contacts we make and the easier it gets.

his high electricity bills gave him up. He should go for solar panels or generator.
although I don't understand why small plants had to be kept in a cold room or why he needed so much light for 20 large plants (proper energy saving lights would be just max a 1k/month)
wouldn't the 150 or so solar panels on the roof and the industrial generator chugging away all night been a bit of a giveaway though?!
those lights get thirsty ????

Bangkokians are also running away from the treat and seeking shelter ( as they see it ) from potential Covid Infection.
Not all the blame can be squarely placed at the feet of Migrant Workers.
my brother in law has just returned to Udon after his factory closed following all the migrant staff doing a runner at the weekend! they got spooked and collectively decided not to chance being locked in lol.
he's not complaining as all the Thai workers got a healthy severance package but he did say the problem is widespread (and under reported)

It's true, I'm not denying the 1 year extension option is available.
But as far as she and CW are concerned the number of times you can use the extension is up to them on the day.
She and her manager made it clear to my partner that no farang is "stranded" anymore.
i can see how they would come to that conclusion considering phuket sandbox opens in 2 days.
not saying its right (i'd base it on local borders being open) just saying i can see how they could justify it.
