not sure about pattaya, but in hua hin it's between 2500 and 6000baht per meter, depending on how many cracks you want to fix over the coming years.

Of the 97.5% employed, how many of them work? Went to Powerbuy on Saturday. Walked all round the shop surrounded by TVs/kitchen white goods. Decided on my purchase. My GF & I walked all round the deserted shop shouting for service in vain. We left emptyhanded.
count yourself lucky i can't walk past a TV in one of thise places without being ambushed by 10 of them.. "discount na khrap.."

The only thing I take from this story is that Manuel Simon is too stupid to be allowed out on his own. No wonder he doesn't want his real name used.

Even the most well to do persons, especially if older would baulk at having to pay the rates being charged. I understand much of this began due to unpaid hospital bills. But any international insurance meeting the required levels that are also applicable in Thailand should be acceptable for short or even long stays. Perhaps charging every man, woman and child coming from an international destination whether by land, sea, or air, 1000-2000 baht on arrival and 5000-10000 baht for in country extensions of stay to be deposited in a fund for unpaid medical services at any hospital would be more acceptable and equitable for everyone.
but it gets worse..
imagine paying said high premium, then getting forced to pay extortionate costs upfront for treatment that 1) isn't needed and 2) is unlikely to be paid by insurance anyway.
thats the fate waiting the unlucky asymptomatic who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and spun the covid roulette wheel in thailand

Yes, good idea. However doesn't the more often you access your accounts the more often some hacker type may intercept your id/password ?
even with id and password they'd still need to clone your sim card in order to setup a new payee/transfer (to fill in the one time password) and get the money out.
if the hacker had the capabilities to set all that up there are far safer and more lucrative targets to go after (crypto exchange accounts for instance).
easiest hack is still skimming debit cards and thats why thats so prevalent. best way to combat that is have 2 accounts and only transfer into the "live" account what you intend to withdraw.

So what kind of dubious ATK test kits are they using and how many false positives will there be? I expect they will get a nice commission from the private hospitals in the event anyone tests positive.
There is also a nice fat profit margin from the ATK tests that probably cost them 40 baht or less.
i'm sure they will try to deny a second test for as looooooooooong as possible.
just to be sure ☹️

its ironic that my friends & my 'plan B' funds are much much bigger than our 'plan A' investments in this country.
if thailand ever wants to see some (or all) of that plan A mana they sure as <deleted> won't be doing it by force.
you catch more flies with honey thailand. jus' sayin.
